URL loss

Hi,

Our site contains some subsites in subdirectories. One of these sites, joins content from our partners' blogs. Now we have about 51.900 results on Google for this subsite.

We are thinking about change the format of this subsite, but we are worried about the number of URL's that will be lost.

The question is, the search machines will "punish" us for these losses and affect all domain ?

If you use 301 redirects you shouldn't lose any results.
