How can I add another Google Places listing to my existing business?
Yes, the dashboard you mentioned is for 10+ locations. Larger clients generally keep a spreadsheet or database of locations and upload it every time it changes or periodically. You can still manage and upload with the tool, but you'll probably be better off managing the locations individually. https://www.google.com/local/business/?hl=en Click "get your page" and create a new listing - from the sounds of it, it'll be a new storefront. Managing the pages separately shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

Home Page not ranking?
Hi Matthew, I would start with a simple one, and fix the Title tag. At the moment, it says "Gerald Miller Super Lawyer: Minneapolis DWI Lawyer & Attorney". I would change this to something like "Minneapolis DWI Lawyer & Attorney | Gerald Miller". I would drop the 'super lawyer' in favor of something like "professional". That said, if people search for the phrase "Super Lawyer", then you need to re-think this. I would also drop the Meta Keywords as Google doesn't use them at all, and worst case, they could be seen as an attempt at keyword spam. In fact, if you have these when doing a page analysis through the MOZ page grader, these come up as a negative SEO point. Something to get you started -Andy

Looking to create a Press Release - Any decent sites out there?
There are two ways to go about this project. 1. Send out a press release and do no further work. This, I assume, means you just want the press release duplicated, syndicated, and just basically reproduced as you wrote it for the purpose of getting links only. That's all sending out a press release will do without a good person with good contacts to follow up with key journalists. There are no more "major" PR news wires that are not having their link equity stripped, due to the fact that they are paid services. Any others that might be free would be smaller scale. I am sorry to say I know of no such places. But once Google/Bing find them, I am sure their ability to pass link equity will diminish as well. That update was not about the newswire services, but about press release syndication. If you just want your press release published, it will do nothing for the company. Press releases are not read, stories are read. There will be no link equity, Google is removing it from any syndicated press releases. If this is really the route you want to go down, just avoid press release sites altogether like you mentioned before. 2. Now, if you mean to get coverage for the company on this story, which is what you should be hoping for, a story, not the publication of the press release, then yes, you will need a PR person. You might not need someone who identifies themselves as that, but you need someone that can talk with journalists, pick out people who might be interested in the story, and talk to them about covering the story, This is the right way to do it and what will produce the most benefit. The only benefit of a press release at this moment in time. I hope that clears up what I mean.

Someone has built low quality links to my site - what should I do?
If you've deleted the URL, you'll be in good shape. A gazzilion links to a non existing URL won't do anything to the domain that URL is on-figuratively speaking. If you 301'd that url with all those spammy back link to the the site that belonged to the owner of that post, they'd might have to come crawling back to you in the hope of getting the 301 removed. Not sure I would highly recommend that though.

Redirecting Pages from site A to site B
DO NOT interlink your sites with dofollow links, Google hates this kind of activity and can penalize both sites for this. It is a blatant attempt to self promote your own site and will be seen as a paid link. If you have a good site, I would not mess with it. I would look at better ways to integrate the eCommerce site into the current existing site, why do you need a new site with a new url?

Can I only submit a reconsideration request if I have a penalty?
You CAN submit a reconsideration if you want to, but in the case of purely algorithmic non-manual penalties you will just get a response that says, "there are no manual penalties on your site right now" and no change to your rankings. My opinion is that it's pointless unless you have a manual penalty OR honestly think your site has been unfairly impacted or attacked.

What is the best tool to track US positions from the UK?
I agree with Jesse you are already a Pro member and the ability to track keywords in the SERPS comes with your complete package. I would use http://moz.com/researchtools/rank-tracker or This is a fantastic tool it allows you to check almost every country on the map except for North Korea and even get as granular as by zip code This link will take you to the free check however you will have to enter it manually and you must sign up for the trial and then pay for the software after 30 days to continue tracking rankings all over the world. https://serps.com/tools/rank_checker this is free You can also use the trial versions and keep in mind you must pay after 30 days both of the tools here https://serps.com/ http://authoritylabs.com/ can give you the zip code level searching. I utilize Moz, SERPS & AuthorityLabs I find it very comforting to have that ability and honestly most of it was from interest in which was better at what and what made them different. I would recommend connecting Google analytics to all of them The only time I would not use Moz is an extremely rare occasion where local matters a lot for instance you want the zip code of whatever country or state has the answer you're looking for lies in whatever countries Providence, broken into zip code via state or Providence I would then consider using SERPS.com they have a free tool as well that will allow you to check your zip code rankings in any country for free however you must sign up and use the trial than pay if you wish to track them. I also agree search metrics & sistrix are outstanding tools and unfortunately is not free but will do the job as well. Great answers everyone. Sincerely, Thomas

Are localised results affecting search query volumes?
Thanks for your input guys. In addition to this, say a keyword has a national search volume of 1,000 exact match searches per month, as my client has. The client ranks, nationally, at position number one. However, the traffic the website receives no-where near matches the available search volume, we are talking less than 50 visits from a keyword that Google says has a search volume of 1,000. So, is this a direct result of localized results? IE a user types in the search query and contributes to the 1,000 monthly search volume Google says it has, but is then served a local result so the clients site doesn't appear. This would mean that any given website, would never achieve the expected volume of traffic from Google's estimated monthly search volumes?

Would it be possible to setup multiple PPC Campaigns across multiple sub folders?
Unless your using two different accounts google will only show 1 ad per keyword. Double serving only becomes a issue when you are serving 2 ads under the same keyword and location etc. Are the local franchises in the same area? If not no issue- Google is trying to prevent you from filling up the page with the same companies results.

Site-wide Image Backlinks - Are they bad?
I think I disagree with a couple of assumptions: Saying that 5,000 out of 7,000 links isn't a huge number seems unrealistic to me. Over 70% of a link profile being any single link type is too heavy, IMO. 80% of them from one site is definitely concerning. I'd suggest some immediate diversification/pruning efforts to achieve a better balance. I agree that nofollow is certainly a good measure, though. In fact, I'd put that at the top of my ASAP list.

Creating 20+ websites with links back to central site
I would agree also. Creating Sub-Folders is the best way to go. I would add just a few quick points: 1. Include schema.org geocoordates to your pages: http://schema.org/GeoCoordinates 2. Sign up for Yelp if it is applicable for your client's business locations. 3. Make sure your Meta Description for each page mentions a city/town name. 4. Pretty simple one but more related to the site overall - Setting Geographical targeting in Google webmaster 5. Sign up for Google+ Local (mentioned above), Bing Places and Yahoo Local 6. If your business is related to Yelp, your most likely able to handle other review sites. Submit the business to reviews sites which will help generate more exposure for the brand. The reviews can also be used in Google - increase CTR% (if you have good reviews) Good Luck!

Duplicate Content?
There is a way to check. http://www.w3.org/WAI/RC/tools/complete http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/intelligent-site-structure-for-better-se/ http://yoast.com/articles/wordpress-seo/#permalink-structure http://yoast.com/wordpress-seo-theme/ http://yoast.com/articles/wordpress-seo/ http://moz.com/learn/seo/url However like the others I agree completely. If it is pointing at the same URL you should not have to change anything is simply navigation. I hope this is going to help, Thomas

How on earth is a site with ONE LINK ranking so well for a competitive keyword?
Hey Matthew We have some sites in similar fields ranking highly in local and organic and have done no link building at all. New players, outperforming established players, in organic and local and no links have been built. Times are changing and whilst links (the right kind) are still powerful, there is a multifactorial way of doing things that in many cases is more powerful when going up against folks who have just tried to heavily go after one aspect. I tend to think and our recent experience shows this that search has several factors and the effectiveness of each factor is amplified to some extent when they all work together. Brand, URL, Local, Citations, Links, Content, On Page etc. The keyword in the brand / URL is a great example of this where it can still seemingly help as long as it is not abused and forms part of a larger cohesive strategy. A recent client starting out was advised by us to add the location they serve to the company name and it has worked out fabulously for them. This is a local client ranking in organic and local well above the competition with only 8 weeks or so of very light local SEO (and again, whilst it was one of my guys that did the work, I am sure there was no links built as it was just a whole lot easier than that). Still, there is no better tool than an experiment so try adding some citations and see if you can influence your clients listing as performance for every keyword in every market is different so only through close analysis and tinkering will you know exactly what will move the dial for your client.
