Domain authority is primarily a function of the number of links that your site has. Since links from Facebook are nofollowed, it won't have any effect on your DA. Getting more likes on your site can get your site ranking higher in personalized Bing searches, but that's about it.
It can be a good way to drive long tail traffic to your site, it can risk a Panda penalty if you generate too many pages. Many sites allow their search pages to be indexed, and it comes down to your domain authority, number of searches being done, amount of unique content you have, and your risk tolerance. A safer approach is to simply log all searches done on your site, then create unique content around the terms that come up often, this can be a good way to identify good keywords to target.

The issue could also be that there is some plugin that you have installed that is causing the problem. Try disabling all your plugins and see if that fixes your problem. Then re-enable them one-by-one to determine which one is the culprit.
Ok, I don't really see any problems in that instance then. It's nice to provide content every once in a while that's only available on one network or the other though. Don't just always post the same content on both sites.

The answer depends on what you're trying to accomplish with the posts. Are you trying to get them to rank in Google? In that case, then publishing the same content twice would be duplicate content, and likely only one of the posts will show up in the search results.
From a social media perspective, if there is a large overlap between your Facebook audience & Google+ audience, then your users may see the same content twice, which most users won't mind but some could find annoying.

First of all, nofollowing your links will not prevent you from losing link juice. In general, you do not ever want to nofollow your own pages.
If you really want to prevent link juice from going to your Contact page, you could use Javascript instead of an HTML link. However, this will break if the user does not have Javascript enabled.
In the big scheme of things, it is probably not worth your time worrying about linking to your Contact page. Link juice that goes to your Contact page is not lost, since the Contact page itself also links to your homepages and other pages, and thus keeps the link equity flowing.
As far as site architecture goes, just link prominently to your most important pages and less prominently to your secondary ones. Then focus your efforts on acquiring more links, because that will have more impact than fiddling with some links on your page.
If you're based in the UK, .co.uk is the best way to go. I would avoid hyphens as they can be seem spammy and can be hard to type out. If you're in the US, .com is the best bet, but .net and .org are also fine from an SEO perspective.

Doing SEO and trying things out is definitely the best way to learn-- it's the way I learned and continue to learn. You can read about different SEO tactics all you like, but unless you've actually implemented them you'll have no idea if they'll work for you.
Definitely, if you are experimenting with risky tactics or trying out new things, it can be helpful to have a throwaway site or two so you don't risk your main business by getting penalized.
Unless you are planning on becoming a developer, the best coding to know for SEO is HTML & CSS. These are the languages of the web, and being comfortable with them will allow you to dive into your site's code to make any on-page enhancements. In my experience, Google still treats subdomains as separate sites in many respects (I work for a large ecommerce site with 30 different subdomains). It's also how large webhosts like wordpress.com & tumblr.com can get away with having so many people creating poor content without being penalized-- each subdomain is treated as a separate site.
If you want your site to get SEO benefit from your blog (and vice versa), I would stick to subdirectories. Why take the chance on a subdomain? They certainly don't provide any benefits above and beyond a subdirectory.
Were the articles transferred over to the new domain? If so, then they'll still be passing link juice. Otherwise it's a lesson in not investing too much in other people's platforms.
One thing to try testing is to have your product at the top of the page, with all your content below it utilizing tabs. A great example of an ecommerce site that does this (that's killing it in SEO) is Overstock:

See how they have the product at the top with a short paragraph and a buy button, but below it they have a bunch of tabs with content on them with additional info such as product details, reviews, q&a, etc. This is a great approach for balancing sales conversions and having more content on the page.
If there are links pointing to your old pages, whether on your site or from external sources, Google will continue to try to index them and return 404s. The best way to tell Google that these pages have moved is to add 301 redirects from your new content to your old content. This will eliminate the 404s and help you retain and link juice the old pages had.

So getting multiple guest posts on the same blog can still be beneficial. Also getting multiple posts on the same blog may be more beneficial than getting posts from different blogs if there is a disparity in domain authority. Getting multiple links from the New York Times is better than having links from 10 random blogs.

Hey csblev, like I said page authority is largely determined by backlinks, both internal and external. If you run your pages through Open Site Explorer you will see that there are more links going to the higher page authority page compared to the lower ones.
Again, if you want to increase page authority, you can either link to the products more prominently from your high authority pages (like your homepage) or get external links to them.
The best way to improve page authority (and rankings) is by getting links, both external and internal. For internal linking, highlight your most important/popular products on your home page and other high page authority pages. For external links, try to get people to link to your inner pages & product pages, not just your home page. That will improve the page authority for those pages.

If you're actually looking to get news coverage, go to the websites for all your local newspapers, and look for their e-mail contact for tip submissions. Write a customized press release tailored to them, and try to come up with an interesting angle that might get them to cover your story. The easier you can make it for the journalists, the more likely they'll bother to cover you.
