Thanks, am using it through Password Protected & meta noindex tag
Its been kept out of search engine crawl !!
Canonical page is for search engines and implies the 'best url to index in basis the page content'
So - if there is this url you are on to and also has canonical tag attached to it - Its no harm. Generally, its been used to avoid duplicate pages by marking canonical url in header on the duplicate pages. In event of doing so, even if original page has same canonical url - its no harm.
Hi, First my apologies, i missed ur last reply
Below are screenshots, see the keywords been striked out
Yes, if you change the path, then 301 redirect are the best way and indication to search engines that the blog path has changed. You may use a single liner code through htaccess to add blog in url
Check on Stackoverflow - if you need the code. There are possibly hundreds of questions like this been asked.
I have an 'under development' site hosted, (which is an exact replica of live site as working on to add new functionalities & modules) - but its password protected, excluded from robots.txt (Disallow) & also marked noindex on all pages in the index - so that Googlebot & other Search Engines can not crawl the site
At present the development work is almost 95% completed., Now - feel like to crawl the site through SEOMOZ Roger Bot - to know the errors and all indexed urls by Rogerbot.
What's the best way to get Moz Bot crawl the site - but simultaneously continue it blocking its access to Search Engines
I have gone through - https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/93708?hl=en, it says
a) Save it in a password-protected directory. Googlebot and other spiders won't be able to access the content- But this way Moz will also not be able to crawl the site
b) Use a robots.txt to control access to files and directories on your server - However it also says - It's important to note that even if you use a robots.txt file to block spiders from crawling content on your site, Google could discover it in other ways and add it to our index.
c) Use a noindex meta tag to prevent content from appearing in our search results - It also says that a link to the page can still appear in their search results. Because we have to crawl your page in order to see the noindex tag, there's a small chance that Googlebot won't see and respect the noindex meta tag
Password Protected thus seems the best way to continue blocking. However, continuing with it will also block Moz bot to crawl the site. Any suggestions
Thanks
Hi Jesse,
Will recommend :-
Hostgator - Shared Hosting. They actually allow you to burst upto 25% of Memory Limit (which is massive at 12 GB) for upto 90 sec, no capping on Bandwidth, HDD. Servers are recently upgraded too. Very cheap at just 50-60$ a year
Knownhost SSD VPS - The best and foremost leader in VPS now comes with Cloud SSD Plans. 1.5 GB Plan stars at around 50$ / mo with VPS
Rackspace Cloud - Undoubtedly - the best in cloud hosting. Cloud Server for 2 GB starts at around 87 $ / mo
Liquid Host for Dedicated - Most Powerful Server in Dedicated Hosting. Dual Core Server starts at around 299 $ / mo
May check on your requirement, if you need any assistance in setting up server. do let know !!
To the best of my understanding about seo, i consider applying the best practice. If you have a choice of applying best practice by avoiding nofollow from internal links then to my view you should apply that
Refer case study from Tedster on :- http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/4161726.htm
Sure, you can get the crawl anytime in between subject to cap of maximum 3000 pages been crawled -
http://pro.moz.com/tools/crawl-test
As a PRO member, you can schedule crawls for 2 subdomains every 24 hours, and you'll get up to 3,000 pages crawled per subdomain. However, you may have to manually identify the error in excel sheet
Rather to my view, no internal link should be nofollow. At best - if the page is of low authority you may noindex the page. Nofollow are good for external page or domain. However, In Internal links - There is no additional value to mark nofollow - this is what been categorically told by Matt Cutt - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVOOB_Q0MZY
Trust - will assist with what the webmaster guidelines says - no internal link should be nofollow
Hi Angelos, Wondering - Did you went for RSSEO component, has it worked for you !!
Thanks
Sure, thanks. But am surprised that why the spam links are not referred in complete by Majestic & Open Site as against Google Webmaster - which has much more comprehensive data.
What i observed through Open Site - around 4 to 5 spam domains
Majestic seo - added another 4-5 domains
Google Webmaster - was biggest surprise, when found even porn sites linking. Have never checked latest links from Google WT - infact have explored all links created in last 2 yrs. Has spent good 4-5 hrs checking page authority, domain, relevance and came to conclusion for some 55 spam domain linking to site (of which 15 do not exist as on date or url been nofollowed) - which were not mentioned in both Majestic & Open Site Explorer
As advised - Have disavowed all of them !!
301 redirect transfer almost 90%+ authority to the new page
Moz fresh index will take time. Till time, you do not need to worry. If 301 redirect is done correctly - sooner or later - the page will get its due authority in not only Moz but bigger canvas of Google too.
Suggest to keep an eye on Search Rank rather !!
Am finding some very low authority sites (recently picked our articles from ezine and other article sites - written over a year back) and pasted on to there site. The number of articles copies are not 1 or 2, but more than 10-12 in all these domains
This has also led to our anchor based url - backlink to us from them (a part of article). Have Wrote down to remove my author profile and articles - but there has been no response from webmaster of these sites.
Is Disavow a right approach. The number of such sites are 4 or 5 in nature !!
Hello Sir,
My point of view for #1 is - I dont think that there will be any drop in SERP position of the existing article.
This however is based on presumption of Search Ranking of News based articles. Herein, Search Engines shows an article both in news snippet and as standalone article. Implies - An existing article is shown 2 times
So, on similar lines - if the article is picked as Indepth Article, it ideally should continue to show - once on its existing rank and second under Indepth Article Snippet
Point # 2 - Unaware off. Have not seen it !!
Lets not be hypothetical. If the exact url is shared, may be you will get a concrete and exact reply !!
You can mention the name of website simply as:- http://www.domainname.com
One can not use any 'anchor text url' or 'keyword friendly url' in Moz Profile. Its the plain domain name which is allowed to enter in custom Profile Url.
So in Profile, you can write
Title - Refer 'Title Name of your Website'
URL - http://www.domainname.com
Description - A short description about the blog or site. (Does not shows in Front End Profile page though)
Dont make them noindex, rather use canonical tag.
Using noindex - will make the page out of search engines index. But using canonical - It not only gives a strong indication to search Engines that the canonical page is the best page and rest are duplicates, But, it also passes on existing page Authority from duplicate pages to the canonical page
Trust it help !!
Thanks Christy for following it up. Appreciate much!!
But did you notice - that certain keywords are striked down as shown in example search or even below one.
**Look at the keyword been striked down_. _**Now - who will write keywords like
"Tata Nano: Prices, Specs of Nano with Safety and Style Features Posted by Gagan Modi " or
"mycarhelpline ford ecosport gagan modi"
I have also seen this earlier - but hardly in 1 out of 1000 queries.
Baffled why is Authorship not showing !!!. Refer keywords like in Google.co.in - where site coming without authorship photo
- major rto forms - https://www.google.co.in/?gws_rd=cr#bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&fp=92ef3bb12eec5b6c&q=major+rto+forms

Hi Brian,
Sure. Thanks. However, We tried this earlier. Will do it again. Infact there are other sections like News & Reviews too - which has only single link to Google+ Profile - but unfortunately doesnt work to show author photo.
