The keywords you enter into SEOmoz are the words and phrases you'd like to track your rankings for on the various search engines. You'll ideally want to include them in your page in some fashion.

I would suggest you run a few custom On-Page report cards for your sites. That will show you a break down of how well your page is optimized for your keywords and help you avoid keyword stuffing.

Thanks for the question. Unfortunately there is no way to just pause your subscription.

The good news: All your data will be safe if you cancel and come back. Your data will be in an archived state and can be reactivated when you sign back up. So if you need to take a few months off for whatever reason, we'll keep your campaigns warm for you.
I'll even have my cat sleep on them just in case.

Hi there,

I checked it out and I don't see your site linked to from the RCI page. It's possible that if they do link to you, it's something generated from a search string, which is often not indexed by us so the link may not have been found.

Our Crawler (Roger) is real good about finding the deep pages as long as there is a thread to them. If there are no links or it needs some sort of Java, it probably won't be found, sadly.

You may want to see if you can arrange to have them put a link on a static page.

Thanks for the question!
The way to do that would be to actually set a robots.txt file under that subdomain and block the user-agent: RogerBot with a Disallow: /

That will let our crawler run loose in your site without touching that subdomain.

Hey,

I took a closer look at your page and it looks like what's happening is that you had a Facebook Script snippet in your body.

I used Chrome's Dev tools to move the script from the body to the end of the head and Mozbar is showing proper words now: http://goo.gl/Zpcwme

It's important to note that I'm not a Javascript developer, so I don't know if there was an explicit reason to have that code there. Generally scripts will need to go in the head tag or on a separate page and referenced. You'd want to confer with your dev team on this to make sure that's a viable solution for you.

But that is what's going on.

I'd have to know the keywords you were using to see for sure. But I just tested a keyword from your campaign and saw similar results. It's most likely because When you run the report without the http you aren't getting the credit for the canonical tag you have.

When you run it for https, you are getting the credit for appropriate use of the rel canonical tag.
That's why you're seeing two different scores.

If you imported the information you received from a request to our API into a spreadsheet, you would have rows of information. The number of rows depends on the request you make. If you ask for 200 links from our Top Back Links API, then you’ll get 200 rows of information about backlinks. If you submit a single URL to our Page Metrics API, then you’ll get one row of information back from the API. That row of information would include page metrics about the URL. If you do a batch request to the Page Metrics API and submit 5,000 URLs, then you’ll receive 5,000 rows of information about the URLs you submitted. The number of rows you get back from your request depends on which API you’re using and the amount of information you ask for in your request. You only pay for rows of information you actually receive.

I replied to your ticket but wanted to reply here as well to make sure you got your answer and in case others had similar concerns.

I've looked at your CSV and there are no images being flagged as duplicate. Roger (our crawler) does not see images so you shouldn't ever see images in your crawl.

Hey Jonathan,

Thanks for the question. You'll want to keep in mind that OSE doesn't know what your official Facebook or Google+ pages are. So when OSE reports those numbers it's URL specific.

For example: Moz has 135,040 likes on our Facebook page, but in OSE it only sees 2,162 because that's how many people liked the url moz.com as opposed to our FB page.

I hope that makes sense. You can try adding your social networks to a campaign to get more in depth social metrics.

I see those on closer inspection. I know it looks weird, but that's accurate. Your server must be UNIX or Linux so they will actually treat case as a different word.

For example: banana.com/pancakes.html would be treated differently than banana.com/PanCakes.html.

So if you have any pages generated dynamically or otherwise that differ only in case, then they will be tagged as duplicate.

In your CSV file you can see the duplicates being caused by case. I'd also be happy to help provide a few specific examples but would want to generate a ticket for you so we don't divulge any private information.

Thanks for the question, and thanks for jumping in to help Bryan.

Your On-Page reports are generated automatically from any URL on your site that's ranking in the top 50 for any of your keywords. If you no longer want it to track a certain one, you can click the "Stop running weekly" button on the report itself.

As for tracking your own custom combinations. you can do that from the Report Card itself. When you're in your On-Page section you'll see two links on the top left: Summary & Report Card. Click Report Card to run a custom On-Page report for whatever URL you wish and what Keyword you wish. Then, if you want, you can choose to Run that report weekly.

Thanks for the question. If you have some old deprecated URLs that On-Page is still trying to check, you can get rid of them by click the Stop Running Weekly button as seen here: http://www.screencast.com/t/r7HO1zkuS

You can then either wait for them to automatically be generated for ranking keywords or manually enter them into your On-Page Report Card.

The On-Page reports are generally automatically generated for any keywords rankings in the Top 50.

If you want to change the Keyword that it grades for you need to push "Run This Report Weekly" after changing the keyword.

When you select your keyword and enter the URL just click "Run This Report Weekly"

Any reports you no longer wish to see you can click "Stop Running Weekly."

Unfortunately though, there is no way to have one campaign specifically ignore a single subdomain and still crawl all other subdomains.

It would be possible to set two subdomain campaigns if your site was set as such:

www.example.com
blog.example.com

But anything outside of either of those subdomains would not be touched.

Good question.

The On-Page report actually utilizes Broad Keyword Use in it's grading. For situations just like you mentioned. Not every keyword is utilizing proper grammar so we've padded it out a bit to allow for extenuating circumstances.

Google will do similar with their rankings unless someone uses quotes to ask for an exact match (weird, but it happens).
