That's fine. Thanks.

RE: Open Site Explorer's delayed update
Is it re-scheduled? It's 6:30pm (in L.A.), 25th July and it still hasn't been updated.

RE: Open Site Explorer's delayed update
Hi Lauren,
Thanks for answering. An email notification about delays would be great, so I can re-schedule the reports.
Cheers

RE: Open Site Explorer's delayed update
No worries, mate.

Probably I'm getting too much stress from some of the enterprise level clients and this 3rd delay put me in a difficult position.
Anyway, hope the update will be done next week.

RE: Open Site Explorer's delayed update
Neither can I, that's why I started this thread.
"Do you realize that it only covers the top 25% of pages from the web?"
Yes, I'm aware of this. This isn't what I complained about.
"With the above understood, you are making a mistake if you are presenting this report to clients with any level of significance."
What other tools would you use for a link building report? YSE? Majestic? Webmaster Tools? Clients pay for link building and we had to choose a tool that will be used as reference.
"This is not some simple program running on 1 pc..."
That's quite obvious.
"...their tools, as imperfect as they may be, are still great"
I didn't complain about the tool, I complained about customer support. I pay for a service and I expect some reliance and feedback. Many SEO agencies use OSE for benchmarking and for monthly reports and if the update is delayed then we want to know about it, so we can prepare.
SEOMoz probably knew that the update is late. I'd really appreciate an email notification when a delayed update is further delayed. I checked the updated and it was scheduled for the 20th, now it scheduled for the 25th.

Open Site Explorer's delayed update
I checked Linkscape's scheduled update and the already delayed update on the 20th was moved to the 25th June. Normally the index is updated during the first two weeks of the month but this month's update is very late.
Our monthly reports are based on the link data of OSE, as well as the PA and DA values. It's very embarrassing because I can't finish the monthly reports and my clients are becoming impatient. It's a very inconvenient excuse that a 3rd party tool developer is the reason for the delayed reports, clients don't care about SEOMoz.
Lucky I found that Facebook post about Linkscape's update calendar and I can at least refer to something. SEOMoz' monthly fee is not cheap and as a customer I do require a bit more communication and support.
Why is the update delayed? Should we ignore June's update and wait for July's update? If June's update is on 25th then when will be July's update?
I'd appreciate an email to PRO users about this situation.

RE: What countries does Google crawl from? Is it only US or do they crawl from Europe and Asia, etc.?
I found an article from 2008 that shows Google data centre locations: http://bit.ly/mONhf9
Your other question is a bit confusing. Why Google wouldn't see the UK site?

RE: Google local listing
Yeah, simple text is OK.
There's new YOUmoz article about this: http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/increasing-your-local-search-presence-through-regionalization
..and a Search Engine Land article too: http://searchengineland.com/what-not-to-do-on-local-business-websites-81650

RE: Google local listing
Do you mean presenting the phone number on the website? Yes, it is very important to present the phone number on the website. You should use the same phone number when you register in Google Places (Maps) and other business directories.
Phone number is a primary key in local SEO and if you want to go further, visit schema.org/LocalBusiness and you can find information about implementing microdata.

RE: Is there a better keyword tool than google's adwords keyword tool?
Are you checking broad or exact match phrases?
car insurance and insurance car are equal because these are broad match types
[car insurance] and [insurance car] are very different because these are exact match types
Numbers are rounded in order to make them easier to read and manage. 195,000 is easier to read than 194,793 and that slight difference doesn't really matter. Same with 590 and 587.
The "reliable source" you linked is a forum where an unknown person posted a message. That is not something I would rely on. Read more about SERP CTR and check your website's data and you will see that the numbers are roughly correct.

RE: Is there a better keyword tool than google's adwords keyword tool?
There're researches about the SERP CTRs and sometimes I compare these research values to my websites' traffic data. I haven't experienced major differences between the Keyword Tool's and my websites' results, it seems to be accurate.
Can you give us a reliable source of information for these claims?

RE: Is PPC worthwhile for a product with no search volume?
If your ads have a lot of impressions but low CTR then your keywords will end up having very low Quality Scores. I would try using keywords that are relevant to your business even if they have low search volumes. The AdWords keyword tool is not 100% correct and your business needs only those few who are looking for these special services.
Maybe a more thorough keyword analysis would reveal keywords that have slightly higher search volumes.
If you use more generic keywords and your ads show that your service is special then:
- your ads will have low CTR
- your keywords will have low Q.S.
- if users click on the ads but realise the difference on the website then your landing pages will have high Bounce Rates and we're back to low Q.S. again

RE: IP Location at a glance - Moz toolbar
The tool is not working correctly because I'm having the same problem with two different computers. Both running Firefox 4.0.1, Win7 and OSX Snow Leopard. Australian and European domains show the USA flag.

RE: How do I get the SERP overlay tool to work?
I'm in Australia too. Maybe try re-installing Firefox from scratch. Delete cache, uninstall Firefox, download latest version, install and download seomoz add-on.
try contacting seomoz support...

RE: How do I get the SERP overlay tool to work?
I had a similar problem with Firefox 4.0.1. I had to log out from SEOmoz & Google, clear cache, cookies, remove the SEOmoz add-on from Firefox, then reinstall and log back in. After that it worked perfectly.

RE: Should I repeat keywords at each folder level of my urls?
I'd use the ski-goggles.aspx because that page is about ski goggles, not any kind of goggles. It's a clear sign about the sort of goggles the page is presenting. Ski category / Ski goggles
A quick search in Google revealed that the 1st SERP shows both solutions:
/ski-goggles/c1000003457/
/ski-goggles.asp
<cite>/ski-goggles/c42/Catalog.aspx
/ski-goggles.htm</cite> -
RE: Should I remove my footer? and criticize my website
It won't hurt but your pages don't get too much link juice from the footer links and visitors probably don't read it either. It looks like keyword stuffing so I'd remove it and also because it has no benefit for your website's performance.

RE: 301 redirect from domain to home.aspx
I have a similar client or even worse. The domain is 302 redirected to the default.aspx. It's a super dodgy CMS implementation and no one could answer the question. It's been months and the dev team still hasn't fixed it.

RE: Geolocation has changed targeted domains, or has it?
Didn't they implement a cross domain canonical tag? I had a similar client that has .com.au and .com too, and started ranking better with the Aussie ccTLD after the Panda update but recently they implemented a cross domain canonical and the Aussie ccTLD disappeared from the SERPs.
