Plenty of coding errors - get your developer to go through this list and make sure it's W3C compliant. Then I'd advise you show less latest essay additions since it ruins the look of the site(in my opinion).
It means that Google will clear your browsing history and, in theory(since I have my doubts about this) it would then offer you unbiased results and advertisements. The part about 'google can add the firefox' just means that they detect the user agent in the browser and know which browser you're using.
Personally I'm not convinced that doing this will simply clear their little pocket of info that they have gathered though - but that's just me haha
Me too - perhaps a staff member can look into this and give us some insight?
That's bordering on cloaking - rather go ahead and bold your keyword within the content, but just do it once. Try pick a spot in the first paragraph too
Hi Jason
That's perfect(and working) for redirecting all non www pages. You still need to decide on your original question regarding the index page!
Add the following to your htaccess file after the code you've already added :
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /index\.html\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^index\.html$ http://www.keystonemortgages.co.uk/ [R=301,L]
Hi Jason and welcome to seoMoz!
If you do not have a rewrite in place(in your htaccess file) then both the www.mydomain.co.uk AND www.mydomain.co.uk/index.html will resolve in your browser. I suggest doing a 301 rewrite and while you're at it make sure you also rewrite all non www varients -> eg http://mydomain.co.uk 301 redirect that to http://www.mydomain.co.uk
You can then go set your preferred version in your Webmaster Tools.
This would be the code for apache(check with your host/developer if you're unsure) :
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^example.co.uk
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.example.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L]
I think a controlled test is needed since I've also been looking for this answer!
Ideally you would like to have one keyword focus per page with the very relevant unique content on said page and inner linked correctly. Of course when the keywords are similair then you might stray towards having very similair pages which can lead to duplicate content/keyword cannabilism.
Think of it from a users point of view - would the 2 keyword's content make more sense on one page or do they need their own seperate page?
Your goal should be to create a page/site that would be the authority on a given subject/keyword and I believe that if you think of it from the user/visitors point of view first you can't really go too far wrong
Something that I also look at when checking rankings for different keywords(the very competitive ones esp) is to look at when google last cached each of the top results - I've found that this can sometimes lead to changes in rankings since our page has not been crawled in a few days and the few above ours just got crawled.
Just a thought
The benefits of having it in the subfolder when the the topic is relevant to the main site are clear - another thing to remember is in terms of your marketing/link building work it's much easier to get strong links to your main site and then inner link to your blog/blog posts.
I like this suggestion - I've never landed on a site for the first time, had a look at the logo and menu and thought I'd share it - that comes after I've a reason to +1 or 'like' it such as a funny or informative post/article/image/concept etc etc
I think it depends on the niche and the target audience. Another point to note is that one can use heatmapping software and test out where most of your visitors hover their mouse over and click and then place your social 'tools' in accordance
Could I ask how many linking root domains out of the 40k 'high value' links?
Mike is right about the shared hosting - just make sure that there are no outbound links to the affected site. Shared WMT account won't matter. You can always use a different Google account if you're still worried
What you could try do if the link means that much to you (judging by the steps you've already taken I'd say it does) - is to try contact the webmaster and pitch the concept of the importance of their site being indexed so people looking for their family services will be able to find them easier. Offer Jame's solution which any webmaster would be able to quickly correct.
This would be best done over the phone though.
Good luck
It looks like an ad extension - I've not done this with just text but I have put multiple links below my ad.

I'd say you're going to have to get your site redone in php with wordpress and then either purchase plugins that perform the functions you require or have a developer custom make and integrate them. Your other option is you get a custom made CMS done in asp.net and then build from there - but the problem with this is you're far more limited than if you went with say a wordpress base and then expanded from there.
Let us know what you decide in the end!
You might want to also consider using the 'NOODP' and 'NOYDIR' meta tags if you have listings on Yahoo Directory and Dmoz.

Keeping the 301's in mind - I don't think you'd lose any rankings by changing the theme/colorscheme etc - provided all the new pages that you are redirecting to contain the same content. I would like to point out that enhancing your site for your visitors is always going to have a positive effect since that's what Google likes
