RE: Why google index ip address instead of the domain name?
Hi Frank
Yes sorry that was my mistake - I think all the japanese writing confused me

How long has it been sicne the 301 redirect was implemented? This should solve your problem once the site is re-crawled.

RE: Why google index ip address instead of the domain name?
Hi Frank
I've tried your keyword in Google.com and I see the site and URL ranking second - I don't see an ip address in the SERP though.
Perhaps it's something on your side?

RE: How to work round issue with SEOMOZ not supporting SSL?
I do believe seoMoz now supports https -> http://www.seomoz.org/blog/new-seomoz-pricing-plans-more-keywords-for-everyone

RE: How to work round issue with SEOMOZ not supporting SSL?
Personally I'd only have secure pages for actual payment pages - the rest of them I'd have normal pages since the only time a visitor is really going to worry about SSL/secure pages is when they go though to the payment section/page.
'Continue to secure payment' or something of the sort

RE: How to check Page Authority in bulk?
You can do a linkscape backlink analysis on a site and get 10k backlinks and export to excel - can also use OSE(open site explorer).
I think you're going to need to be more clear as to what you want to check on mass - serp's for a specific keyword perhaps or do you mean backlinks for a specific site/domain?

RE: Possible penalised website, with PR6
Jack
That's because using the toolbar PR number is not a good metric to go by. seoMoz provides way more accurate data.
As a starting point(please note there are more metrics to look at than just these) their domain authority is 63 vs your 39 , total number of links is around 2.5 times yours, but you'd need to look at where the links are coming from. What I suggest you do is use the linkscape tool or the Open Site explorer and take the top 5 results for 'web design' on google.co.uk and do a full link analysis into excel spreadsheets and then sort by domain/page authority and start going through all that data and see where they are beating you.
It's not a simple quick process but it's definitely worthwhile

RE: Possible penalised website, with PR6
Stop worrying about 'PageRank' - I put it in quotes because the only PR we can see is what the toolbar says and it's normally not close to the real PR. http://www.webdesigncreare.co.uk/ ranks first on google.co.uk and has a PR of 0...
What you need is quality links from strong domains that are relevant(think technorati and the like) that are not on your server!

RE: 4xx (not found) errors seem spurious, caused by a "\" added to the URL
If I had to have a guess I'd look into any javascript on the page that is perhaps adding or pointing to the URL with backslash.

RE: How can I check if the FOLLOW,NOINDEX tag is working?
The code is correct and I see that there are 0 links to that results page - the only thing I can think of is the search engines indexed the page before you added the tag!

RE: Should I Use City Name in URL?
Is it going to have dynamically created pages and URL's or are there going to be static pages? Personally I would include the city name in the URL (eg www.cars.co.uk/london-car-hire.html -> if it's going to be dynamic then you might do it like www.cars.co.uk/carhire/london)
You could seperate your content by city and then town or if the company leases cars too(or might do lease to own option or maybe even rentals in the future) then it's a good idea to think about the scope so that it will be easier in the future when expanding

edit : I realise my example is car hire and not sales but the same principal applies

RE: Is it OK to repeat the Meta Title as the H1 - word for word?
Just remember that the H1(and other header tags) should be descriptive for/of the content that follows them too

Edit : typo

RE: Consolidating 3 regional domains
Redirecting each and every page using a 301 redirect to the most relevant new page is the best way to do it in my opinion. It's a time consuming process but it is worth doing this rather than a whole domain redirect.

RE: Content served in javascript
http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2007/11/spiders-view-of-web-20.html
Basically there is not a yes or no - but with this sort of thing it's best to err on the side of caution and make sure you have static links too just incase.

RE: Has anyone created a top (Insert # Here) list of local business listing sites?
There is a tool(that I was offered) called NetTrakz (http://www.nettrackz.co.uk ) that does this - but I'd love if seoMoz created a tool that served the same purpose. One thing to note is that some of these directories change databases sometimes so you'd need to keep track of all your listings so that your information all aligns together(which is good for becoming a 'brand' on the internet)

P.S - I'm not in anyway affiliated with the above company and link.

RE: Do "big" SEO companies remove links after termination of service?
One would think that they have paid for those links to be built and thus own them, but I guess it's all down to what it says in the contract at the end of the day. I won't even touch on the ethical aspect of the whole question.
