RE: How much difference does .co.uk vs .com for SEO make?

RE: Keywords that are bold in text
Size can matter in a H1 - i have seen some minor effects there.
However if you are asking for general usage in articles/editorial - then no it does not matter is the answer, from an seo perspective.

RE: Recovery Question
Firstly when you say your site was hit by a google update, what was the date/time of the decrease? and how much of a decrease? The below link may assist.
It is important to know which update has effected your site. But as importantly you need to verify it has actually been hit. As it will depend on what "rules" you have breached to what actions you take.
If I was you I would first work out where you sit on the penalty scale and what needs to be done before approaching anyone. Be appropriately armed with the right information.

RE: Where is it appropriate to use a .eu domain?
Url's are not the be all and end all. However for global .com is the safest and best choice. An eu is not overly exciting to anyone, I think a turn off to many americans. A .co would be better. That said you can make any domain work except ru !
Good luck with it.

RE: 95% of organic traffic lands in my homepage, despite having a 250 page website with a "seo optimized" hierarchical structure. Any suggestion as to what might be happening?
Juan
Thanks for providing the URL. The website is in Spanish which slows me down.
The observation I would make is that though you have some great back links - according to Semrush you do not appear to be ranking in the first few for high volume keywords in your customer category. I do not have time to review your backlinks but I would review them and see whether you are targeting the right anchor text.
Then secondly I would consider becoming more page focused for the keywords you are targeting. So get backlink anchor text specific with pages you want to rank for.
ie The below words you do not appear to rank well for. (not sure what any of them mean!)
Keyword Volume CPC SERP source flores 74,000 0.95 rosario flores 33,100 0.11 flores de bach 27,100 0.39 lola flores 18,100 0.09 florida 12,100 Finally if you have time I would do a competitor analysis - maybe a keyword density check on the keywords you are targeting - see if anything is drastically different from your competitors. Maybe they have great content blogs etc. I am not sure. I wish I could understand Spanish though!
All the best.

RE: Google not using my meta description nor my meta title
In some cases you do not need brand in Title - but in this case it looks like google wants it. So perhaps try a title no more than 512 pixel long, with the brand included at the end. Then use Fetch for google to get it indexed asap.
In the interim, we can look at some more technical possible issues. As Andy indicates any translation would be of assistance and Patricks link is worth a good read - to cross check a few items.

RE: Image Titles and Descriptions Question
Also remember the basis for it. The underlying principle is it can help the visually impaired read your site and understand what it is about.

RE: Migrating to a tag-driven global website - Need opinions!
Hi
Am a little unclear on your query but it seems you are moving to a single page - per article platform and trying to rank internationally. So for one unique page you wish or expect that same page to rank for example in the USA as well as Ukraine.. is that correct? Assume if they find the page from Ukraine they use google translate... etc.
To be clear is that what you are asking?
If that is the case it will not work. Effect digital sums it up pretty well. T

RE: How to measure traffic for a keyword
The easiest way is as Patrick states below. Use www.semrush.com. They scrape the data from search analytics anyway and then put it in an easy format for us!
You can get some free searches on Semrush before they close you out. So make sure you change the search to the right country before you press enter. I think semrush is gold. It should be the easy solution.

RE: Brand name as H1 on every page
H1's in my experience are influential in the seo armoury. Ideally it should be above the fold, a good sized font and identify what the page is about.
Here is a previous post setting out some discussion on H1's. .
https://moz.com/community/q/are-h1-tags-important-or-influential
You will have an easy seo win by fixing up the H1 on each page. Hope this assists.

RE: How does the suggested website functionality work in Safari?
In short it pops up as it is based on search preferences. The algorithm behind it is complicated however primarily it is based on search history and data or inputs you (or someone else) has made into your safari search preferences pane.
If using Chrome - and undertaking keyword research it is a important method into collating keywords. The suggestions are usually in some form of popularity...
Hope that assists

RE: August 3rd Mozscape Index Update (our largest index, but nearly a monthly late)
I had to re-fresh a few pages, a few times, but all the data has come though now. Every website up, though a few by only 4, but I am still hopeful that is not noise but the result of hard work.

RE: How to check competitors' strengths/weaknesses?
Landon
Patrick has answered the primary question above. We do alot of work on competitors strengths and weaknesses. My primary job is to take clicks away from competitors. Not that hard. The best overall tool I believe is www.similarweb.com - though not 100% accurate is comparatively accurate. Semrush useful, I also like Alexa - and the new Moz product in reviewing links and status of same.
In Semrush you need to go to the domain v domain sub heading. The graphs & spreadsheets is a beautiful and easy way to interpret where you sit on keyword status with competitors. On similiarweb - I look at overall traffic, where a competitor is getting traffic from. The referral tab is gold. You can really understand a business and how they are run, by using a combination of the tools above and referring the link Patrick has sent through.
Let me know if any questions.

RE: New site - http or https?
Https - google has been warning us - https is preferred over http. At the moment if two sites are equal https will prevail. Alick is spot on.
However google is conditioning us at present - so that when it amps up the power for https we will be prepared. I have no doubt google will amp up the power of https in 2-3 years if not earlier - significantly more juice will be given to https sites over http. https hurts PBN's and impacts many black hat practices. The sooner you do it and bed https down the better. There maybe a slight loss in page loading speed, which should be monitored.
Hope that assists.

RE: Dividing a website into two websites
Generally a bad idea.
If the two websites are totally different then do it. If they can feed off each other - then one website. It is the equivalent of having two houses... two sets of rates, two sets of bills, and two gardens to clean up. One house is easier, but sometimes it is best to have another to put the inlaws in another house away from you.... it is your call, but if there is anyway you can put up with your inlaws then one site is teh way to go..

RE: Find out how much competitors spend on adwords
Agree with Moosa, I am also unaware of a tool.
I prefer Semrush and also like Similarweb to make intuitive judgments. I think at best you can get a feel for it via those sites, but also if you know whom your competitor uses as an agency you can find a mutual friend and often they volunteer their spend... especially in Australia.

RE: August 3rd Mozscape Index Update (our largest index, but nearly a monthly late)
It is working on most sites, but a few I have just checked have changed, ie one started at 27 - 5 hours ago was 32 now 30! So might give it another 24 hours to settle down.

RE: Site Rollback for Careless Website Design That Caused Rank Drop
No, I cant see any concerns. If re-directing should be no issue with duplication. Sounds like a good plan. Shame about the content deletion hopefully there is a back up.
