Thanks for the quick response.  I've been reviewing the rules and some incentives are allowed and others are not.  For example, I think you can reward likes but not posts though I'm not yet an expert on what is and is not allowed.

I've used several contest apps in the past (e.g. WildFire and SocialAppsHQ).  Would be interested to know if MOZ users have experience with other similar apps or have rolled their own apps.

Right, I was commenting on your use of the word bleed, which refers to the affect on the page with the link, not the page that is linked.  I agree, nofollow does not transfer PageRank; it just bleeds to the dirt below.  At least, that is my understanding.

Is there a Facebook app that will monitor an incentive program.  For example, suppose a company will provide credits towards free products for each image and comment posted to an FB page.  Is there an off-the-shelf app that will do that?  If not, is it relatively easy to create such an app using the FB developer tools?

It is my understanding that follow and nofollow external links bleed the same page rank.

I've been using SocialAppsHQ for social monitoring but I think that feature is going to become more expensive.  I've been testing Raven Tools for social monitoring and will likely transition to RT.  Either one of those will likely provide the features you need.

Thanks, David, I've been testing Raven Tools for the past month.  I really like the ability to not only monitor many types of social accounts, but the ability to post to a variety of social accounts from within one centralized tool.

I don't know what Moz has in the automated email responses that is causing Outlook to freeze for more than a minute, but Moz needs to contact Microsoft.  This is a serious defect in Outlook.  Can you imagine if someone discovers this defect and starts blasting large amounts of email to unsuspecting users?  What a waste of time that would be.

I am using Outlook 2013 on Windows 7 Pro.

Will rel=canonical do what you need?  In other words, the user with ID 1234 would post the link http://www.domain.com/page?ID=1234 where page contains the meta tag

Unless they have released a recent upgrade, xml-sitemaps does not generate proper video sitemaps.  If you have a Word Press site, you should consider Yoast.

We have been using both their Apps and Social Monitoring.  The Apps has worked pretty well for us and the revised pricing will actually be cheaper for us, so I'll likely continue with that feature.  As for the Social Monitoring, perhaps I'm not using it effectively, but I get notice of social traffic too late to be really useful.  To help generate viral lift in Twitter, for example, I need to be notified within an hour or so that someone has mentioned our product.  If I am notified eight hours after the original tweet, then many on the east coast are already asleep and I can't retweet effectively until the next day, and it looses impact when the discussion is cold.  Also, the revised pricing makes this feature much more expensive for us.  What services can you recommend that will give us rapid notification of search phrases on FB and Twitter?

a link from every page will discount all of the links by a big margin (as of July 2013)

This is a different but related question.  Suppose I host the suddomain www.mydomain.com on one server and the subdomain shop.mydomain.com on an eCommerce server.  There are no duplicate pages but there is more detail and articles about products on www and customers can purchase the products on shop.  Is it OK to have a link from each product on www to the corresponding product on shop?  Please note it is the same domain, only different subdomains, and it is my understanding that Google has started treating these more like one site, in which case, these links are virtual internal links.

I use LastPass so it's not quite as frustrating, but I do have to login frequently.

Of course, far more frustrating is the extremely long period that Outlook hangs due to an apparent Moz image that will not load.

I agree.  Each should target it's purpose.  If they are the same, fine, if not, fine too.  My excerpts are usually longer than my meta descriptions and for that reason alone they are typically different, but it's not my objective to make them different.
