I'd say that SEO skills allow you the segment the customer base more effectively, by understanding different customer groups, what keywords they use, and how they interact with your content. A social media campaign needs to be targeted at a particular customer segment. The deeper your understanding of that segment and their information/entertainment needs, the more effective the social media campaign will be.

If your client shops local universities for interns and/or employees, those universities will link to your client's jobs page from their careers page(s) as a resource for their students.  It is quite a relevant link and there are quite a few universities or colleges in OH... I'd hit them up as well as taking the on page advice that has been listed by Kade and Jesse (and anyone else that chimes in)

My problem is that I do have the referrer, it's an internal page, often the page that is creating the duplicate content.  I keep searching for links that are generating the discrepancies and can't find them. I've run a report using xenu, but now I've got even more wood (can't see the wood for the trees). Can you recommend any good resources for using xenu? That would be a big help! Thanks Catherine

Go with a sitemap. Hint it via robots.txt and use a Gzipped SitemapIndex (not a plain sitemap). Make sure that your index files do not contain more than 50,000 URLs. Verify that whatever you submit in the sitemap-index files is not blocked by robots.txt or onpage noindex-tags.

Hi SEOKeith, In the US, I've never had a problem with GetListed.org being down. What I really like it for is a quick glance. For example, if a local business owner phones me for the first time, I can punch in their URL and zip code and, right there while I'm on the phone, I can get a very quick idea of whether they've done any Local SEM or not. I find that very helpful.

Thanks Rand, I needed that.  I've just been informed by my son's school that the council want to withdraw his funding - the UK is pretty dire at the moment.  He has SEN.  Still puts things in prospective.
