RE: Google Adwords Minimum Bid
Yes AdWords average CPC tool gives inaccurate estimates for keyword bids. My guess is that it has to do with how Quality Score effects cpc. Determining average CPC without knowing the average Quality Score is not an accurate measure. If your quality score for the keyword is low, then you need to bid much more than the average CPC to be on the page. Of If your Quality Score is high, then you wont need to bid as much. I also have noticed that AdWords estimates seem to be a longer trend..for both volume and CPC. I guess they are using a yearly average, not the last 30 days

RE: Using Google Adwords is good?
There is no relationship between AdWords and organic. I've spent over $30MM in AdWords, and have several relationships with dedicated AdWords reps, and have never been able to get anything special from the organic team (I've tried several times, with 0 success). I could not even get the organic side to expedite a reconsideration request.

RE: Tweaking Adwords
Yes its ethical...and highly effective.
you just need to use punctuation at the end of line 1 description.
look at your example...there is a period (.) at the end of the long headline.

RE: Good Adwords resources/ Guides
I use accelerated ad serving for all clients campaigns. It's the only way to get 100% impression share. For example, a campaign set to standard ad serving, with a daily budget of $240, will stop serving ads when you spend $10 in an hour. $240 daily budget is really $10 hour.

RE: Social Ad Extensions
I have recently been using social extension for my clients Adwords campaigns. I havn't noticed an increase in CTR, but my clients have been receiving more google plus 1s, which will help with the new Google Map results.

RE: Advertising on Bing...
I run PPC campaigns on both platforms. Bing's CPC is cheaper than Google, and will result in lower CPA / CPL. However Bing/Yahoo only have 20% of the volume that Google generates. I recommend just taking your AdWords account and upload it to Bing. Same campaigns, ad groups & keywords. The only thing you will need to change is the text ads...different structures between the platforms. Other wise its definitely worth it. Bing is less competitive and produces cheaper leads & sales.

RE: Anchor Text Guidelines
Here's an good article on anchor text & over optimization. ... exact match vs partial match.
I have a client that has been penalized for over optimization. We've been focused on partial match links for a while. We've even used a few links that were the actual url, and 'click here'. Anything that makes your link profile look natural.

RE: Does sitewide SEO affect PPC Quality Score?
From what my dedicated AdWords rep tells me, Quality Score is PRIMARILY based on CTR...however there is a small weight to text ad and landing page relevancy. My rep has told me that if my landing page meta title, H1 & content use the keyword, then the landing page will have a good relevancy rating....beyond this, don't worry about it.
I've asked him several questions about improving On Page SEO items to improve my Quality Score. He told me to focus on CTR, since this is primarily what determines Quality Score.
I recommend optimizing your text ads to increase CTR, which will result in a high Quality Score....use the keyword in your text ad headline, line 1 or 2 ad copy, and the display url. I also recommend using dynamic keyword insertion...preferably in headline.
Also go through your search query reports, identify keywords that generated lots impressions & low clicks, and add these keywords as a negative keywords. This will increase CTR & Quality Score...especially for your broad match keywords.
You can even go a step further in your campaigns to ensure high quality score... Stop using broad match...just use exact, phrase, & broad modified match type for every keyword.
Also remember that Quality Score is a long term metric, Google is looking at the CTR for the week, month & year...so don't expect changes you make today to impact your Quality Score tomorrow.

Advertising Agency Directories
I have been looking into Advertising Agency directories recently. I've found a few that are big in the Advertising Agency world, but are quite expensive.... Ad Age, Red Books & Agency Compile. Each directory costs $1k - $4k / year to be included, so I'm hesitant to fork over several grand.
The 'sales people' at these directories tell me that their directory will promote us to prospective clients, so there is more value than just a link.
I was wondering if anybody has any experience with these directories. Did you get any leads from these directories? Are they worth it? Are there any Advertising Agency Directories you would recommend besides the directories mentioned above?
Thanks in advance

RE: Do you need an on page site map as well as an XML Sitemap?
yes you should use both.
You should also have an xml sitemap for video. I recomend using Wistia if you have a good budget, since they automoatically create video xml.....otherwise use Vimeo Pro, if you are on a budget. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/hosting-and-embedding-for-video-seo
And an xml sitemap for your blog (Google News xml sitemap) ... if you create lots of articles and want your articles included in Google's news feed. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-seomoz-gained-1000s-of-visits-from-google-news

RE: Article submission web-sites and SEO
Yes they have an impact......less of an impact from years ago, but they still have an impact
Heres an article from a test ran on Matt cutts blog. Somone published an article pointing to mattcutts.com. Anchor text in the article was "Leasreepressmm"... A few days later Matt's blog ranked for this keyword. Proof that article submission still carries a little weight

RE: Do organic penaltys affect paid prominence?
Ppc and organic are completely seperate. I have a client that got hit really bad from panda, so they started ppc while they cleaned up their website content...their Ppc ads were in position 1, while their organic listings were below page 5. I didn't notice low quality scores, or high cpc, from their Adwords campaigns, so I don't think ppc and organic results are related at all

RE: Boosting Organic Search
While many SEOs focus on rankings, looking at Click thru Rate is essential...(a major focus in PPC).
Create a compelling description that will get users to click on your link. Test out different descriptions and measure CTR to evaluate what works best. People like FREE stuff...so place "FREE Shipping" or some other compelling offer in the description. Is this item on sale? Did this item win an award? Is it ranked "Best Product" by consumer reports? You can also search for this product on Google...look at the PPC ads on top of SERP...do the PPC ads have any compelling text? You can also change locations, to find different PPC ads.

Animated Favicon... Good or Bad Idea?
I'm about to create a favicon for my company and noticed an animated favicon option. I can't remember a major website using an animated favicon, but I use Chrome, which doesn't support them.
Are animated favicons visible on many browsers? Do they have any impact on SEO? Does anybody use animated favicons? Is it worth my time to create one?
