webfeatseo is correct, don't try to stuff the keyword as that used to work a long time ago however things have changed a ton in the last few months. Jump out to Google Keyword Suggestion tool and pull a search up for that exact keyword you are wanting to try and rank for and then build a list of other related keywords that you can pull from to build with that you can build a theme based article that readers are going to understand and want to read.

Don't worry to much about how many times you use a word focus on the content you are writing. another good tool I found when writing articles is inboundwriter also SEOMOZ has a great tool that can help you analyze the page for accuracy called **On-Page Report Card **found on the http://www.seomoz.org/tools page.

Links can be a tricky thing however SEOMOZ really has some cool tools to figure this out such as LinkScape and others to determine where your domain is currently compared to your competitors. However that being said, I would not just focus on the links.. There are so many other aspects to getting good traffic and rankings, such as good content and a good product or service. Without those it is hard to get good quality links that will mater. The number of links used to matter and still have their value however if you focus on your core business and develop a quality site that keeps visitors engaged you will succeed much more than just looking for links.

Watch your bounce rates and your content find out what is working and what is not. Finding that perfect number will make you pull your hair out and will waste time when you could be doing better things for your site and company..

Wil Reynolds offered up some really good ideas as well down at the Affiliate Summit and its work taking the time to watch his seminar on YouTube.

First off, you have a very nice website as I am also an avid angler. I do agree with EGOL as you can build unique content for different cities, for one of my sites I promote the bass industry however I can target areas via lake location in different metros. Do you have only one launch point for your service or many? another thing you could do is partner with tackle shops within your target areas and the reference them in your article with the metro making that page include that location you are targeting.

Or you could develop a contest for the best fishing photo in that metro all in all there are many ideas on how you can get listed for these types of metro keywords related to your industry..

I read in the Google+ Guidelines that running a contest, sweepstakes or other forms of contest is against the rules for Google+

However I have seen a few contests going such as share this with your friends to get entered to win.  How is Google enforcing this rule?

My company runs product giveaways each month on Facebook but I did not know if I would get banned for posting a link to it or building content around it on the Brand Page.

1. Setup a Google Account with marketing@domain.com
2. Setup Google Webmaster Tools
3. Setup Bing Webmaster Tools
4. Upload Google,  MSN verification HTML Code
5. Build a Google /sitemap.xml  file and upload then submit it to Google
6. Signup for Google Analytics and setup tracking code on each page for tracking
7. Setup Funnels within Google Analytics for tracking conversions
8. Run a Server Check to test headers to make sure that the server is not a virtual server, blacklisted server
9. Run Xenu for Broken Links, work to get any links fixed
10. Web page title, description and heading tags.
11. Develop a list for where the Company can improve content based upon the discovery of low hanging fruit “keywords”
12. Run Competitor Analysis Reports to help understand how to improve rankings
13. Build a robots.txt file to put in the root of the website
14. Run keyword list and find other opportunities for rankings
15. Run Reports to determine back links
16. Run Reports on competition back links and look for areas we can leverage for expansion of external linking
17. Add to Google Maps
18. Add to Bing Maps
19. Test with SEOMOZ Tools
20. Run a report to find possible industry related forums as well other sites to post on for driving more traffic and related links
21. Setup 301 redirect for website to go to www
22. Setup Twitter profile
23. Setup Facebook Page
24. Setup Youtube Channel
25. Setup a Google + Page

This is just a Phase 1 List there are so many other things to think about, focus on your visitors and content, watch your visitors and tweak it based on behavior. Look at your bounce rates, Time on site, ETC.

I can see where the writer is going however Google will crawl anything it just not rank it unless it has relevance enough to push past the freshness algo, if that was true how could some of these basic social posts rank with little content. Thin content is only one of thousands of parts to the algo.

A few weeks ago Susan Moskwa and Maile Ohye spoke about this exact topic and Google's response to buying links... Their Answer was "YES" you can go ahead and purchase links from many of these agencies however it will not inflate your PR nor push any Juice to your website. The reason is because Google cannot shut down these companies however they can control the link juice from those links and downgrade the authority of the link at the same time it identifies new signals making Google aware of new branches of the link buy.

Personally You really do not want to get caught up in that Mess.

Link Building is a tricky thing these days since Google Caffeine as well as other Google Updates,  They are always getting smarter.

That does not sound fun at all.... So you just changed the server, complete copy?

My first question would be other than the server did anything else change? Copy or URL's

This is a tricky thing as we see the SERP Landscape change with Panda and other future updates. My rule of thumb has been to stay under the marker. When writing the Title and Description I see it going more of the direction of a Google Adwords Ad ...

Deliver a proposition to that customer just the same way you would in an Adwords Ad taking into consideration the landing page copy and bounce rate you see from that page. Fine Tune the Visitor Experience and it will return a gain in the future.

Quick Question, We all have heard that outbound links for affiliate marketing will be filtered via Panda however how does this work when using the Google Affiliate Network URL's?

Has anyone found different signals with using Google vs. Another Network?

We are in the process of building out a new website, it has been built in Drupal.

Within the scan report from SEOMOZ Crawl Diagnostics and it look like I have a duplicate content issue.

Example:

We sell Vinyl Banners so we have many different templates one can use from within our Online Banner Builder Tool.

We have broken them down via categories:

Issue: Duplicate Page Content

/categories/activities  has 9 other URLS associated this issue, I have many others but this one will work for an example.

Within this category we have multiple templates attached to this page.

Each of the templates do not need their own page however we use this to pull the templates into one page onto the activities landing page.

I am wondering if I need to nofollow, noindex each of those individule templates and just get the main top level category name indexed.

Or is there a better way to do this to minimize the impact of Panda?
