Thanks for your response. Blocking Roger-bot looks like it might be a good idea. Will this affect the DA calculation?
Hello
My duplicate titles report is full of paginated pages eg
www.roger-bot.com/rogers-diary/sites-ive-crawled
www.roger-bot.com/rogers-diary/sites-ive-crawled?p2
www.roger-bot.com/rogers-diary/sites-ive-crawled?p3
www.roger-bot.com/rogers-diary/sites-ive-crawled?p4
www.roger-bot.com/rogers-diary/sites-ive-crawled?p5
www.roger-bot.com/rogers-diary/sites-ive-crawled?p6
This would create 5 duplicate titles in the moz report
Is there a quick way to filter these out?
Hi Paul
Thanks for your response. I'm always happy to hear your advise.
I've been through the page code line by line.
I've also fetched in google and the HTML does not contain a URL without the SRC value.
I'm really stuck
Ok the URL looks like this
www.site.com/engine/referrer.asp?web=http%3a%2f%2fwww.example.co.uk&src=3078c98d2da385d5468f562
However google moz and ahrefs only get this far
www.site.com/engine/referrer.asp?web=http%3a%2f%2fwww.example.co.uk
Could it be because there is a domain name in the paramater
Could it be because they cannot pass the ampersand
Could it be because src is blocked in robots.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
I have gone into search console > crawl > URL parameters.
I have found the SRC parameter and told google to crawl it. (as opposed to "let google decide")
Google has been indexing the pages without the parameter so I think it chose to ignore it. (because it doesn't alter page content)
Google now states. "This will be crawled unless overridden by other commands". So robots should kick in now and stop the URLs being crawled.
Why Moz and AHREFS are also ignoring this parameter is beyond me.
I have a disallow entry in my robots file which is
/*src=
So I have urls that look like
www.website.co.uk/example?value=1&src=2
I would expect these URLs to be blocked.
However both Moz and AHREFS have these in the crawl logs
www.website.co.uk/example?value=1
It is as if the bots are reading the first parameter but being blocked when they reach the second and logging part of the URL.
Is this standard behavior for Roger (mozbot) or Ahrefs bot. Does google act in the same way?
In a rel=prev rel=next set of paginated pages. Is there a benefit to have prev and next links in addition to the numbered links on the page. Or will the numbered links suffice?
Any help would be most welcome.
Yes including copy would be beneficial. Plus Title and H1 obviously.
You could write an additional blog post about it and internally link to it with decent anchor text.
A social media drive would also help an infographic to rank. If you can post it in relevant facbook groups and google groups and get it to be shared by interested parties on twitter and facebook (include some good text) then this will also help it to rank.
Put The Page URL into ahrefs
Click organic keywords
Actually if you click all the items in the Google Snippet. You will see that they all have very well populated google business listings. lots of reviews, lots of web results referencing them, lots of dated events, populated information, etc etc. This may be a factor.
Google is listing these as the 50 top tourist attractions in the city. It will probably be based on search volume along with mentions online. If you look at the list they are all well established long standing assets of the city. I'm not sure the escape room has much of a chance.
Fair enough. I just wanted to play with my new toys! Thanks for the response.
You need to identify were the links are coming from.
Is your competitor forging online relationships? Do they have an active blog. Do they have active social media. Are they part of online communities.
Is their domain authority increasing i.e. are the links they are generating good quality? Or are they potentially damaging in the the long run? Don't emulate them if they are not engaged in high quality link building.
You can increase links by generating high quality content that people want to link to. You can also be active on social media. Social Shares are just as important. There's no easy fix here. A solid content marketing strategy backed by a solid social media strategy will naturally expand your backlink profile.
Hello again. I hope your week is starting out ok.
Is there anyway to correlate the lost links report with the c-blocks report. Is there any extra useful information to be gained by combining these sections?
Hi Thanks for your response.
When you mention products, do you mean the accommodation search?
Yes that's correct. The products are unique to the site but they also exist on trip advisor and pull through the reviews. Do you think all the external links make it look like trip advisors content?
What is the main term you are hoping to rank the page for?
Hotels in Manchetser
Are other pages like this on the website ranking well for their most important term?
Yes, Things to do in Manchester and whats on in Manchester are all fine. There is something wrong with this page. The mobile view isn't very user friendly - i'm having this changed to a list view to see if it helps - but it is not flagged as non mobile friendly so I'm just doing this as a test
When did you publish this page?
Thanks again. Any help would be most welcome
Andrew
The reviews are powered by tripadvisor but the products are owned by visit manchester. Are you seeing trip advisors content in the product descriptions?
Please help! Ive been trying to rank this page
It appeared on age 2 for a day and disappeared again. It's like it's being algorithmically kicked out. Can anyone see why?
I've often heard that google favor their own products. I'm not honestly sure.
But this was asked before - https://moz.com/community/q/seo-vimeo-vs-youtube
