Is Link equity / Link Juice lost to a blocked URL in the same way that it is lost to nofollow link
Hi Andrew, That's a pretty interesting question and quite difficult to definitely answer (hence a lack of replies I'd guess.) Just to clarify, which rule in the robots.txt are you referring to; Disallow: / or Noindex: /? So if the page is disallowed from crawling then my best guess is it would have the same impact as a link being no-followed i.e you are saying to GoogleBot please don't crawl or count this page...you're not vouching for it and perhaps don't want it to be indexed. If you are saying you are linking to a page which has a Lastly, specifically with regards to Link Juice, you might find this old post from Matt Cutts interesting: https://www.mattcutts.com/blog/pagerank-sculpting/ It was written in 2009 about the idea of "PageRank Sculpting" or Link-juice funelling. The official line from Matt back then was that it wasn't really a thing, and as he says, Google will have got a lot smarter about assessing the value of internal/external links 10 years on whether they have a nofollow property or not. He also advises that you don't worry about it and in his own imitable way, focus more on creating great content Belated happy new year, and I hope this sort of helps! Nick

Duplicate Titles being shown for rel=prev / next paginated pages
Thanks for your response. Blocking Roger-bot looks like it might be a good idea. Will this affect the DA calculation?

Misbehaving Robots
Hi Paul Thanks for your response. I'm always happy to hear your advise. I've been through the page code line by line. I've also fetched in google and the HTML does not contain a URL without the SRC value. I'm really stuck

Paginated List Links
Andrew, If you are asking your question in terms of SEO (vs usability) keep in mind that when there are several links on a page to the same external resource, only the first one of those links carries any SEO weight. Also, if a page contains important info for the visitor, it should be linked to from numerous pages on your site.

This page should be ranking but it's not even in top 50
Hi Thanks for your response. When you mention products, do you mean the accommodation search? Yes that's correct. The products are unique to the site but they also exist on trip advisor and pull through the reviews. Do you think all the external links make it look like trip advisors content? What is the main term you are hoping to rank the page for? Hotels in Manchetser Are other pages like this on the website ranking well for their most important term? Yes, Things to do in Manchester and whats on in Manchester are all fine. There is something wrong with this page. The mobile view isn't very user friendly - i'm having this changed to a list view to see if it helps - but it is not flagged as non mobile friendly so I'm just doing this as a test When did you publish this page? Over a year ago. Thanks again. Any help would be most welcome Andrew

Internal Linking Conundrum
The number of internal links you make to a page shows the level of importance you place on that page within your domain. Fact check first sentence - https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/138752?hl=en That's the lesser point here though. There's a bigger issue I need to resolve. My most important pages are the ones google perceives to have far fewer internal links and these pages are not being shown in the serps, instead the lower pages are showing. I will progress with checking the js and robots to see if I can get this crawl sorted.

Only half of the sitemap is indexed
Hi Andrew Here a few things to check or rule out: Are those pages accessible to be crawled (not blocked with robots.txt etc) Are they also internally linked? (ie;s crawl with Screaming Frog, starting at the homepage and see if they turn up) Is the page actually indexed (search the URL in Google) but just not showing up in Search Console? How long are you waiting before resubmitting - also does it literally get half way down the list, or do you mean 50% are not indexed? Overall, I would just submit the sitemap and you don't need to keep resubmitting. I would rather do some crosschecks to make sure the URL is accessible (crawlable) and even maybe indexed already, just not showing in the report. Usually, there's some other issue with the URL besides a sitemap issue - and like you mentioned, I'm not sure how long you're waiting, but it can indeed take weeks for them to show up.

Drop in Domain Authority across 20 sites
Hi Andrew, Yes DA scores change a lot over time. I have noticed more changes this month than usual though. I was a little concerned when my scores went down one (1) on average, but it looks very widespread. Moz may have made some changes to their scoring model or something. We like most people have been working hard to get our scores to go up. Best Regards

40% Drop in Traffic since redesign
It a really low portion of the sitemap though. It's of concern. I work with around 20 sites and the rest are indexed fully. This one used to be indexed

Internal Clicks and CTR. Is REL=canonical better than Noindex in this case?
Thanks James this has been so helpful. I've searched all matter of search terms but hadn't come across "dwell time" before. It's amazing how one search term can open up the internet for you. I learnt another relevant search term in this article - "Unicorns" are apparently high performing internal pages. http://www.wordstream.com/blog/ws/2017/01/25/dwell-time-seo. Thanks again

Should this site be using Rel=Canonical VS No Index
Thanks for this. I will set up the canonicalisation accordingly. In regards to the internal clicks. I guess I was hoping that all the clicks would essentially be added together. As in - All of the actual page clicks and all the clicks variations with URL parameters. But as internal clicks are not a ranking factor it doesn't matter. Are the links to the page with parameters the only way the 'source' page benefits through using a cannnonical?
