Author Byline Question
In addition to what have already been said, I would consider adding rich snippets such as schema.org/author http://moz.com/blog/a-visual-guide-to-rich-snippets

Over-Optimized Website
I would start with keyword research and come up with a large bank of alternatives for the "dog training" keyword. Look for synonyms, alternate word endings (train, trained, trainer), and co-occurrence terms. Then rewrite the content with these to be far more natural. It may require some heavy rewriting, depending on how bad it is. Definitely get rid of the over-optimized footer links. If you do all of this, you shouldn't have to worry about the banner in the header. Header content is often the same across an entire site. The hard part may be explaining to your client that on-page optimization isn't so much about exact-match keywords as it is about topical authority.

Redirect Question
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain.domain.com RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://domain.com/subfolder/$1 [R=301] Something like the above rule may be what you're looking for. This would go into your .htaccess file and redirect all the subdomain urls to the new url with the sub folder. Make sure to check with your development team for any special considerations.

Is Google creating rich snippets for you? Example inside
I believe it is because Sephora is using a recommended 3rd party product review aggregator, Bazaarvoice. They most likely share their product reviews with Google through a data feed file and Google understands enough to implement the reviews in the Organic search. I've only seen reviews shared this way for the purpose of includes reviews in Google Shopping (previously, PLAs), but not organic search.

My Google business show up on map but does not show up on list and local search on Google.com
One of the basic tools SEO's use to determine the strength of their website's rankability and trust on behalf of Google is a website audit. This process effectively gives you an outline of your ranking factors and potential issues that you can fix such as 404 disconnects, incorrect 301 redirects, improper heading usage or missing meta tags, among 100 other factors. This is what I think you should have done for your website. If you want a DIY method, several website audit tools include: SEMRush (semrush.com) SEM PowerSuite (Website Auditor) WooRank (woorank.com) If you want someone to go over the results of the audit with you, it would be a good idea to consider hiring an SEO consultant who will be able to make sense of your audit and help you reach your SEO goals. From the sounds of it, my gut tells me it has something to do with a 301 redirect error or set up errors with respect to your site. There is a small chance it's related to your Google+ profile or perhaps to duplicate content or your link profile, but these are less likely.

Lower quality new domain link vs higher quality repeat domain link
I would forget about Domain Authority -- it's about as useful as PageRank. On which of those two sites should you get links? The one that is more prominently read among your target audience. If I have a website about basketball, I'd prefer a link from another big basketball site with a DA of 20 over a site on, say, cooking that may have a DA of 60. In the age of "earning" links, the best links comes as natural by-products of just doing good marketing and public relations. And involves the process (which I outline here and here on Moz) of KPI setting, audience identification and research, messaging and positioning, channel research, content creation, and campaign execution. Do this process well over and over again forever, and the best links will come your way without you even needing to think about it.

Re-Launching Old website with New SEO Friendly Features - What should I track?
An aspect of the software people do not utilize enough is the key word tracking combined with the page grader. If you look at the keyword tracking you may notice a URL on the right hand side to some of the key words. That is the specific URL that is ranking for that key word. I use this to see what key words I have ranking and then use the page grader to optimize pages for each key word or key word set and make sure that each key word I care about is ranking on a specific URL. just keep going through this process until you are ranking on all the key words you are targeting. As SEO is a "no one thing" art form you need to fix all the crawl errors on the site as well as build up your domain authority in the background. An aspect people often do not think about on the front end is bounce rate and conversion. Right away I would set up conversion events on the web site itself and tie these to Google Analytics. I would also add Crzyegg heat mapping software to your pages, While tracking the traffic to your web site look at what that tracking is doing once they are there. i

Reciprocal links now cancel out any benefit say Google. But what about if one of them is nofollow?
Here is Google's definition of bad linkbuilding: Any links intended to manipulate PageRank or a site's ranking in Google search results may be considered part of a link scheme and a violation of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. This includes any behavior that manipulates links to your site or outgoing links from your site. Google sites this an example: Excessive link exchanges ("Link to me and I'll link to you") or partner pages exclusively for the sake of cross-linking. So, basically, if you arrange to get clients to put links to you in their footer in an attempt to increase your search-engine rankings, then you are violating Google's guidelines and risking a penalty. (Nutshell: Google doesn't want to give you credit for a link that you give yourself.) So, I'd make sure that those links are no-followed AND that the anchor text is your brand name and not any desired keywords. The value from those links is the referral traffic, not any help that they give for rankings.

301 Redirect to external site
Thanks Erica, I have seen the Moz recommended list. As you suggested, maintaining the old URL and creating a recommendation link will be a better idea than 301 redirect.

Can one retrieve past campaign performance data from an Archived campaign without reactivating it?
Thanks for reaching out to us! Right now, we do not have a way to view data in an archived campaign without reactivating the campaign and then viewing the previous data in that campaign. My Google business show up on map but does not show up on list and local search on Google.com
Hi Sassy, When I look up the main term you've stated 'nail salon in Sevierville tn' I see your website coming up #1 organically. While it is sometimes possible to appear in both the organic results and the local results at the same time, it's not terribly common. If you have an outdated Google+ Local page representing an old location (Pigeon Forge) , here are Google's official instructions for getting rid of it: https://support.google.com/business/answer/4569146?hl=en Hope this helps!

More guest blogging penalties coming?
I can only hope that we'll see more penalties for guest posting. It's a tactic that I truly want to die because "guest posting" is just an amateur form of marketing and public relations that deserves to get penalized. It's trying to shortcut the traditional marketing process in order to get higher rankings quickly for a brand that probably doesn't deserve them in the first place. Nothing good comes quickly. Why do I mean when I say "guest posting"? As Jen Jopez wrote here on Moz, it's "trying willy-nilly to get your posts on every blog for the sole purpose of building (probably bad) links." Google, after all, doesn't want to give websites credit for links that they build themselves. In this and this post of mine here on Moz, I outline the proper process for obtaining the best links naturally through the traditional practices of public relations and publicity. Two of the parts are audience and channel research: determine the websites, blogs, and news outlets that are read by your target audience, and then aim to get news coverage from them or quality articles published on them. One of those links is better than 100 or 1,000 links on random guest-post websites that no one even reads. Just do good marketing, and the good links will come just as natural by-products without you even needing to think about it. EGOL, thanks so much for the kind mention -- you've got an upvote!

Competitor ranking well with duplicate content—what are my options?
Yeah, I don't really like the 'theory' I listed, but sometimes you aren't left with very many options. If a business has been trying to go out it organically for as long as the OP has, then maybe it is time to consider something farther outside the box.
