Google Adwords Offered to Redesign My Website & A/B Test... Thoughts?
It's Google. I've worked with the AdWords team before and they are verifying/accessing back end AdWords & Analytics data that only they would have access to. Still curious though... has anyone ever taken them up on something like this? Did you have a good result?

Which keyword for title
Hi Clay, Welcome to Moz! Have you checked out the Beginner's Guide to SEO as well as our other guides at http://moz.com/learn/seo? I totally understand if you've instead been enjoying the weather! I see you're in AG/SLO. I grew up in Santa Maria, and really am only now (after relocating to Seattle) appreciating the weather we had there in the winter.

What tool can I use to evaluate the domain authority of a competitor?
Derrick, "Domain authority" is pretty much a term that Moz coined back around 1995 as an alternative to Google's term "pagerank". Essentially the two describe the same thing and Moz's tools evolved since then as a means to quantify the factors that make up pagerank/authority. Moz's tools are a good place to start wrapping your arms around the strength of a competitor's site as compared to yours.

Strategy for writing meta descriptions and titles for case studies?
I would also make sure to include generic terms for the industry or type of company that is in the case study. So if someone was searching for "saving money in the widget industry" you might show up because you included the term "widget industry". Just a thought.

Using keywords for e-commerce SEO / marketing
Good question, I do see this one a lot. I have built a "few" ecommerce sites and can tell you that following SEO basics is a must. From there it is all about the product's page content. This can be a huge challenge because often times you have very similar products. In a case of multiple colors, you want one product page with color option selection. Multiple sizes can be tricky, for clothing Amazon is a good example they list a drop down. But that may not apply to somethings like screws, piping, and in our case O-rings. My last project I had many different sized o-rings, in many different materials, some of the different materials had the same sized o-ring. The first thing I had to do is familiarize myself with the industry. Learn why there are so many different materials, durometers (hardness), certifications and sizes. After I ingested it all and got a firm grip I moved on to a basic overview. I took a hierarchical approach. Broke the o-rings out in to material type, durometer then finally listed each size individually. The next challenge was how to I make unique content for a same material same durometer o-ring with out risking duplicate content penalties? This is where Excel saved me. I listed out some standard information and broke out size information, everywhere possible. Then populated cells with unique information and finally in the last column did a concatenate to produce the final description. You can see an example on our site here: By listing the sizes in metric, inch, and fractional and referencing the part number, model number as many times appropriately I was able to avoid duplicate content problems even though this o-ring description is fairly similar to the next size. I will admit with about 8000 different o-rings this was a very long and tedious task. But thus far has proven to be a nice feather in my cap. Another tip that I am a fan of is user reviews. Not only can you integrate a microdata schema that search engines can pick up on, but it also gives the site the ability for customers to create content for you. On the referenced site we don't use reviews but in future sites it is something I am definitely going to be implementing. Hope this helps and if you have any follow ups on what I showed you I'd be happy to respond. good luck, Don

Migrating a website
This is mostly a factor of time since the 301 redirect was implemented yesterday. With any change that affects domain names you can expect to wait a while for propagation to complete (like how your hosting setup typically warns that it may be 24-48 when creating or modifying things like CNAMES). Your new site appears to be indexed in Google https://encrypted.google.com/search?q=site:modli.co so that's good and leelach.com is redirecting properly, also good! Now it's just a matter of waiting for a bit. One thing you might consider as design elements would be the text one modli.co that says, "Formerly LeeLach.com" or something along those lines. Just so people know what to expect. Cheers!

ADA, WCAG, Section 508 Accessibility and hidden text
Wow, interesting question. I am with you I would definitely worry about obfuscated text penalties (keyword stuffing) employing that particular method. I have no experience with these guidelines but I am interested in what others have to say about the matter. My initial though would be something like Directions [image: Directions-5th-Store.png] Under the assumption that a speech reader would read alt text since users wouldn't see the image. And of course the image could be something completely simple like an arrow or bullet point. I will wait to see what others may say, Good luck, Don

Under-performing blog as part of main site
I think that the blog has nice content. Many of the posts are competing for queries where there is very little search volume. Go to this page... http://www.naturalworldsafaris.com/blog.aspx?destination=india read the titles of the posts. Are people are searching for those topics? I think that the blog posts will get more traffic if their titles align with search volume or if their topics align with search volume.

Cross-domain Canonical for the full site
Nah, I don't believe its risky and wouldn't be considered bad practice. Just be sure to remove the noindex tag on each page.

Subdomain Severe Duplicate Content Issue
If the admin subdomain is used for any testing purposes, then I wouldn't redirect it. If there is no specific use for it, you could do a 301. If it is used for testing purposes, then you could: block the crawlers noindex the pages (as Ryan mentioned it above) use canonical to the www. version I hope it was helpful. Gr., Keszi

How do I code SEO for a secondary site without impacting the main site?
Yes, presenting the reasons you should keep it on one domain [duplication of effort between two sites, splitting up potential links, duplicate content on the sites, possibility of Google thinking you are creating a link scheme by linking between the sites] might convince the decision-makers. If there is no way to convince them, for the magazine site I'd optimize for long-tail search terms relating to "magazine" or "travel" or whatever is unique to the publication's content. [And from reading the media kit, it sounds like luxury lifestyle content is an intended focus, so I'd probably emphasize that.]
