  • Patrick nailed it, but I'll add that when you see a drop in DA, the first thing you should do is look up your competitors in Open Site Explorer. If they've dropped too, then it's very likely you're just seeing the effects of an index refresh.

  • Hi There, Thanks for writing us and I hope this message finds you well! Unfortunately, Yahoo is not one of our current partners so in order to claim and update a Yahoo listing you will need to go through some of their existing channels. I have attached an article on how to claim a listing for reference: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN15966.html. Our partners are: Infogroup Acxiom Nuestar/Localeze Factual Foursquare Superpages Best of the Web So anyone not on this list you will want to manage manually. Hopefully this helps and if you have any questions for me let me know. I wish you a magical day!

  • Hi Toby, A couple of months ago, I switched my site over to SquareSpace and had the same problem:  Google was able to index my pages, but was not indexing my images.  I contacted SquareSpace Help about this and here is their answer: "I've spoken to our advanced testing team and we believe that your images are indeed being indexed, although they are not being linked to your site within Google Search Console. However, they are being linked to your site in Google Search results. I'll explain why we believe this below: The reason for this is that Squarespace images are on a CDN which has a separate URL (static.squarespace.com). While Google can find, index, and correctly associate the images with your site, they can't report this information back to your via Google Search Console as you are not a verified owner on eitherstatic.squarespace.com or static1.squarespace.com (the URLs on which the images are stored). As long as images are being indexed and associated with your domain, there's no issue or cause for concern. I have done some digging and on my end can see that your images are being indexed and associated with your site correctly." Hope that answers your question. I would be interested to know if you are still using SquareSpace for your website and how you're doing with SEO, as I have encountered a number of problems, especially around meta-titles and meta-descriptions. Thanks, Monica

  • Very simple, Your old site http://www.instantissuance.com uses a 301 redirect which can be seen here http://www.internetofficer.com/seo-tool/redirect-check/ It then redirects to http://www.datacard.com/instant-issuance-solutions which is the exact page you mentioned above. In tools like Majestic and MOZ you can see that the most common term used in backlinks to the site apart from the domain name is "dynamic card solution". When you perform a 301 redirect all the positive signals that a site has are passed to its new home. This is a clear indication of that happening. I hope that makes sense!

  • If all the links are from 200 different domains i would skip the step of contacting the webmasters and go straight to the disavow, its often very time consuming and i would suggest that time could be better spent elsewhere. I swear by this guide for a disavow http://moz.com/blog/guide-to-googles-disavow-tool Good luck

  • Hi David, sorry i only check the forums on weekdays. I don't use wordpress on a regular basis so my knowledge to hand isn't the best. But everything you need to do to set up yaost or most other SEO plugins have really good tutorial videos on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=seo+yoast+tutorial+2015 The top few hold  your hand through the basic installations and set-ups and should take you 90% of the way. Sorry its not a direct solution.

  • Competition does matter, and the landscape does change based on different keywords. Most head terms don't have significant amounts of competition because they are too vague. Something like Wedding Cakes is not a good PPC term when you are looking to make money on your money as fast as you can. It's always best to try bidding on the term (especially on Broad Match Modified) to see how it performs for you, but it is highly likely you will receive a low QS and a low CTR and higher CPCs which make it not as important of a term when you are looking at everything from a returns or profits perspective. As far as low v high volumes for keywords, it's not something that I take into significant consideration unless my client is trying to get close to a specific number or is very concerned about a specific keyword. PPC is about throwing out a wide net for low, mid and high volume keywords, bidding on all of them, and learning over time what creates good return for your particular niche. What works for my business might be a horrible strategy for your business.

  • Backlinks from DA 21 sites are nothing to sneeze at. I'll take them all day long. Moz actually just rolled out a great tool called "Spam Score". The lower a spam score the better. It will show you the spam score for any links that Moz has found. Spammy links can affect your rankings, so spammy links should be investigated and possibly disavowed. If your site's own spam score is low, I wouldn't get my panties in a knot.

  • That is actually a good thought, but Kolea 10A is a little below average in traffic compared to the others.

  • Yes, it is as simple as www.rootdomain.com/blog - here is an example of a fashion retailer site doing it right for you to review http://www.cottonongroup.com.au/news/featured-news Yes, rootdomain/article - The content transfer depends on how content is hosted, structured etc. but it is straight manual labour moving the content across. Hope that assists. The positive is once you can dedicate all resources to building the domain authority in one domain - you usually get greater reward for effort.

  • Go to one of the image SERPs that used to bring you traffic.  Scroll to the bottom of the first page and see if you find a notice like this.... In response to multiple complaints we received under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have removed 3 results from this page. If you wish, you may read the DMCA complaints that caused the removals at ChillingEffects.org: Complaint, Complaint. That is what occurs when people use my images.

  • If it is a drop in organic desktop traffic, then that won't be caused by the mobile change (as Andy said). Out of curiosity, what are your percentages of organic traffic by device? Does mobile account for a sizable amount of your organic traffic? I'm wondering if mobile is being mis-reported as desktop? While I'm doubtful that mobile usability issues would cause a drop in desktop traffic (assuming it is legitimately desktop traffic not being mis-reported), one easy way to test this would be to take a page that get lots of organic traffic that has mobile usability issues reported, fix those mobile usability issues. This ranking factor is real time and page by page (see Search Engine Land), so you should see some results quickly if that is the factor. Another question for you - what exactly did you change about your product descriptions? Meta description, on-page text, both? Are those the pages that lost traffic? Maybe try reverting back and see what impact that has. I'm guessing you don't want to share your domain here, but feel free to connect with me privately with the website URL and I'd be happy to take a look at your domain more specifically to see if I can spot anything else that might be causing this issue.

  • Hi Nathaniel, Sorry to be late to the party, but I just noticed this because I was doing some research on Prestashop and SEO. (Considering helping a client on that platform.) I came across a person who might be able to help you - Lesley Paone. Lesley is "an expert in PrestaShop development and is also a PrestaShop certified developer. He is also one of the global moderators of PrestaShop's e-ecommerce forum, which is one of the largest e-commerce forums on the internet. He is also an SEO relating to e-commerce sites and is very active on the SEO forums for Moz as well."  You can find him on Twitter at @lesleypaone, on his site at dh42.com, and by private messaging him here on Moz. Good luck! .

  • Hi there I guess I would ask why you're taking the news on one domain and moving it to another? I would think you'd move it to a directory of abc.com? Is there a reason why you're doing this? Check out Rand's post on Subdomains vs. Subfolders, Rel Canonical vs. 301, and How to Structure Links for SEO - it's extremely helpful! Hope this helps! Good luck!
