Do we need to worry about internal duplicate content?
Something of a sticky one, because Juhn Mueller said: “We don’t have a duplicate content penalty. It’s not that we would demote a site for having a lot of duplicate content. So to answer your question: I was wondering if there are actually any penalties for this No - there isn't one. This doesn't mean that duplication is not going to result in a penalty for another reason though. Too much duplication may result in a page quality issue that triggers a different penalty. Too much is also not good for a user experience, but that all depends on where / what content is duplicated. Spell Check Crawler
Andy have you had any issues with CheckDog slowing your site down? We've had site speed issues as they are resource intensive. But I'm wondering if it's just us. We don't have that many pages...under 1,000. Caro

Outside Top 10 Even though - Higher Domain/Page Authority/Higher On Page Grade
Andy sums it up perfectly. It is very easy to make any "SEO checker" give you top grades for a page. Likewise it is very easy to manipulate individual metrics to be higher. For instance, I could write 2000 words of useless content on wedding DJ's in perth, insert a few keywords in the right places, make sure my taggings is correct and i have the right number of tags and title text etc... Moz gives me an A for optimisation... but my content is crap. If you have ticked all the boxes for on page optimisation (if you have more than 1 h1 tag like a previous poster said then you need to look at this at start with the basic step) then its time to look into what andy suggests, the quality of your content, your website trust and hunt down that reason.

Wordpress Old Articles date - Update or Not
Maybe I will leave the date as it was then... Based on minimal changes, I would do this. A minimal update doesn't need to sit in the background though. Remember to get busy and let everyone know when you update something -Andy

Update old article or publish new content and redirect old post?
I have lots of articles that are updated with I get new info. Some started out as very short pages with a photo, slowly they have grown to 2000 words and lots of photos, graphs, data, sometimes video. It is much more efficient to update an article than it is to create a new page and set-up redirects. Those redirects place a small load on the server that can add up over time if you accumulate a lot of them.

Squarespace or Wordpress for a Photographer
Wordpress tries really hard to be a CMS but it's really not much more than a blog with some page management thrown in. The only advantage WP has here is that it's free. If you're a professional photographer then you need a photographer website. Don't try to cut corners. if you were a woodworker I would tell you to buy a circular saw over a hand saw. Get the professional website that is built to showcase your talent.

Whether or not this informational niche has promise for ads
Hi Bob, In your second reply you mentioned " I have a second idea that has lots of ads in the niche but a lot of the suggested bids in Google Planner are dashes. A few say $2.50 Should I stay away from keywords with dashes?" Dashes only means that Google does not have enough data from the last 12 months in your selected location and language, in short low traffic keywords. AdWords has no fixed price per click it is a dynamic bidding system and the price per click depends on many factors. You can read more from here : How costs are calculated in AdWords If you really want to reach more audience and try to find search volume IMO you should start campaign with BMM keywords only with very low budget like $10 per day and just bid that much that you can appear on first page not on top so you can avoid more clicks. By doing this you will get an idea about keyword search volume by spending little and if you think impression is enough you can raise your bids and include other match types to get goal conversions. Hope this helps. Thanks
