  • Hello Oksana, The context matters. So if the page Title, textual body Content and Images or other media are all about the same topic you should be fine. Additionally, you may want to make sure that the keyword for which you want the image to rank is on the page, preferably in the paragraph next to the image, and perhaps repeated in the image caption. This should help, when not overdone. Other things might be whether anyone else is linking to that image file, or the page/s on which the image is used, including the domain/page authority from the linking site, as well as the text used in the link. Social shares like Pins and Tweets may help. If you're using a content delivery network (CDN) to host the images there's an additional set of issues to think about.

  • Typically, no. You can see a discussion on this on another Moz Q&A here. There are exceptions to this rule, like when you're using AJAX and have a #!, but in your case, I'm pretty sure Google would ignore the filtered version of the page.

  • Hey Oksana, Over the years, google's algorithms have been quite matured to understand the web content according to the user's intent, thanks to Semantic search behaviours and hummingbird. The terms like "Keyword density" are no longer valid in today's SEO so now craft your content by keeping the visitor's perspective in mind. If you think, using "24 K" or "24 carat" is really necessary and you do not have proper synonyms available, go ahead use it whenever it's required but use it smartly and properly. Do your Keyword research and come up with long tail phrases that your visitors would search. Hope this helps! Have a great weekend, Umar

  • Hi Jolie! Thanks for posting a good question. Moz Local guarantees your data on 7 specific platforms, which represent the 5 major US aggregators, plus 2 other important sites. These 7 partners are: Infogroup Acxiom Best of the Web Localeze Factual Foursquare Superpages We do not control the push beyond these 7 partners. That being said, it is typical for our partners to then push to their own partners. You can see an illustration of how data is typically shared in the link Patrick included in his reply. But, again, it's important for me to clarify that the movement of your data beyond the 7 partners is not part of our service. So, if there are specific non-partner platforms (like Yelp or TripAdvisor) that you want to advise your client to claim, you are free to do so.

  • Hi D.R. To answer question 3, I just realized I sent you Classic GA setup - my apologies. Here is more information on how to set these up: Cross Domain Tracking - Web Tracking (analytics.js) Set up cross domain tracking Cross Domain Tracking (Google Tag Manager) To answer your questions: 1.) Yes, you can do that. Or you can break it down by hostname as well in your GA data if you don't want to create multiple views. 2.) I would keep it under the same property. It makes it easier to consolidate your data and you're not clicking back and forth. Hope this helps! Good luck!

  • Thanks Patrick. Appreciate the encouragement. I will provide a service that is above board and ethical. I know that there is a lot of interpretation on things and I would rather take the high road then get stuck in the mud over a few successful, short term leads. I am going to get back to the "other" guys and challenge them on their practice and try to encourage them to change practices. Doesn't matter what their response is, just my actions. Thanks again. Really appreciate it. Gary

  • You're very welcome. When I'm auditing links, I don't pay huge attention to DA and PA. You can still have unnatural links on a high DA site. But, it's often harder for a site owner to axe those links because if you're wrong, you're going to end up losing some PageRank. With that said, links on resource pages can often be ok. If your link is relevant to the page then it may be ok. But, let's say you were a realtor and you had links on the resource page of all sorts of casino sites, baby apparel sites, exercise equipment sites, etc. then it's pretty obvious that you were just getting links wherever someone would trade a link. The other thing to consider is scale and whether there is a link scheme going on. The Google Quality Guidelines tell us that creating resource pages solely for the purpose of linking is not a good thing. So, again, if you were a realtor and you had links from 100 other realtors and all of those realtors were linking with each other, there's a good chance that Google will see this as a link scheme. It may or may not be picked up by Penguin but I've seen sites get manual penalties for link schemes like this. It's hard to answer the question without seeing more of the link profile, but in general, if you have a link on a resource page and it legitimately makes sense for them to be linking to you and it's not part of an elaborate link scheme then I'd keep that link. Sometimes the decisions in cases like this can be hard though.

  • Your misspelled domains should 301 to the correct domain. You can make any subdomains redirect to the proper TLD as well.

  • Yes those tools are good and the comment about intent is right on the money too. [Apple might have a high search volume, but that's not necessarily as helpful as you might think, if you are a fruit seller.] One thing I like to do when looking at various keywords is to put them in Moz's keyword tool and see which sites are ranking. This tells you something about intent (the sites that rank highest for a search term are likely to be the most closely aligned with user intent) and about competition (the tools shows you some metrics about the ranking domains). It doesn't help to pick a term with a high search volume if the competition is way out of your league.

  • Hey, Yes, it may impact. Here I mean, if it's creating crawling & confusion for search engines and readers then you might see a drop. Always make sure, the important HTML tags that are crucial for SEO like meta and header tags are properly placed and not repeating, canonical issues are addressed and unnecessary scripting is not there.
