How we can rank two keywords
Too many worry to try, because the changes might completely destroy the SEO, or may benefit SEO. But there is no sure answer. So I will try to gradually make the changes to see what happens, rather than a sudden change. Thank you for your reply. I will also try long tail keyword and more content on the marketing end. And for sure I have tons to talk about the app.

Adword San Francisco Reach number
Hey SirMax, AdWords reach numbers have been known to be a little wonky, for another good example of this look no further than Central Park, NY (Zip code 10024, AdWords Criteria ID #9004077) which says the reach is 10MM, but we need to realize that there is much more than just census data factoring into this number. Google also uses: Number of accounts used per person Number of temporary visitors to a geographic location. Length of time each person spends on a website. Number of signed-in users. (Full Documentation) So using the above + census data is how Google came to the 7,220,000 number. It's also important to realize & remember that positive location targeting has 3 options: People in my targeted location People searching for or viewing pages about my location People in, searching for, or viewing pages about my targeted location (Default) Remember these and use them to more accurately target your campaigns. TL;DR: I wouldn't sweat the size of your 'reach' number. Monitor the campaign, specifically on the Campaign>Settings>Locations>View location reports>Where your users were (user locations). This will give you a feel for whether your targeting settings are where they need to be. Hope that helps, let me know if you need any additional information on this one. Trenton

Ranking drop
You don't have to agree. Music production companies (for artists like Adele, Bieber, Drake, etc.) don't make mp3's so easily available. The site has almost no unique content and the music is illegal. I don't like intellectual property, I don't think it should exist, but it does, and this site is lucky it indexes at all.

Is it Bad to Break Up A Site into Multiple Sites?
I agree with Jared that generally splitting up the site can lead to drop of SEO results. It will also increases your work load since you will have to work SEO on 3 sites instead of one. However, it seems that you are concerned with usability of your site and in my humble opinion that should take a presence and should be addressed. I would suggest splitting the site under a single domain. You can have essentially 3 sites with very few crosslinks (so users would not get confused). www.mydomain.com/patients www.mydomain.com/doctors www.mydomain.com/researchers On each of the 3 home pages, you can have a cross link to other two home pages. E.g. on www.mydomain.com/patients page you can put link like Click here for the medical professional to route user to www.mydomain.com/doctors

Breaking a Big Website into Multiple Unrelated Sites
Really great question and there really isn't any one right answer here. In general, from an SEO perspective, I lean toward one consolidated website that is really well organized. That way all of your SEO efforts benefit one domain. For example, instead of building links to three sites, you can concentrate on building links to one website. Even if the content for patients gets more links (let's say), if everything is on one domain those patient oriented links will still help the content for therapists earn rankings because they'll contribute to overall domain strength. Along with the SEO though, my other question would be if there is any great harm in having one website serve multiple audiences? There are numerous examples of companies who are able to do exactly that with their content. Doing so requires a strong information architecture to clearly define what each section is, who it is for, how sections are labeled, how you navigate to various sections, etc. Totally doable, and good IA tends to also be good for SEO too. That said, in some cases one audience group might be distracted/offended/annoyed by content that is intended for another audience group or maybe there is just one set of content you'd rather one group not see. Do you have any situations like that? Have you surveyed users for their opinions about the content to identify these pitfalls? Of course, the other question to ask here is if there is a strong business case for dividing the sites apart? It doesn't sound like it based on your question, but I want to throw that idea out there. I've worked with some organizations where they have one department focused on a certain audience group. To simplify dev and maintenance, the business case is pretty compelling to split the sites apart. Still though, in a lot of cases it is easier to have one website because then all dev, design, branding, etc. budgets (of time and money) can be focused on the one domain vs. divided across multiple domains.

Should I Use WooCommerce Tags & Attributes?
Hi Justin, Sorry for the late reply here. Yes, I likely would do that. As long as the site categories are set up properly, you shouldn't require any product attribute pages to make a product discoverable for Googlebot. And the pa_ attribute pages tend to make for a poor landing page experience. If a product/attribute combination is especially important or profitable, I'd usually set up a custom landing page for that, rather than rely on the product attribute archive pages.

Website rankings, OSE and Backlinks
Okay so you gave me a long winded answer about how OSE doesn't crawl all the backlinks and I should use other link analysis tools, some of which are paid when I choose to go with Moz because of your reporting system and it's tools you guys provide... So there is a possibility my competitor Excel Driving could have a decent linking profile. I'm still baffled how this site which is a pagerank 0 compared to my pagerank 2 site is still doing better with no onpage optimization and just 1 3 star google review. Can you explain how their Google Business listing is ranking better than mine in the search as well?

Redirect for Soft 404 or 404?
That's a good point about keeping the page indexed if it's being 301 redirected. There are approximately 900 properties listed with maybe 50-100 leaving the site each month. Would it be best to give a 410 HTTP response code? There won't be a lot of direct traffic to these pages, the main issue is with how Google sees the page. Users will search for it while it's listed but we're not talking about a large amount of traffic.

Multiple Google Business Pages/ Backlinks for Google Maps
Hey Mike, In a nutshell, you can have: 1 GMB page per staffed physical location and, if you choose, 1 GMB page for each of the lawyers in the practice, but be sure to follow Google's conventions as to naming practices for practitioners (detailed in Kristen's response) and definitely provide a unique local number for each attorney that directly connects to him/her. Be sure all citations for the attorneys are consistent across the web and all link to a unique landing page on the website for the respective attorney, which features their complete NAP at the top. I'm not sure I understand what you mean about backlinks to a Google Map Location URL. Can you provide an example or further explanation of this? The decision to use Google as a social medium has become quite controversial in past months due to the removal of Google+ links and the disappearance of owner posts from any highly visible display. I recommend reading the comments discussion here for more info on this https://blumenthals.com/blog/2015/07/23/google-removing-all-non-verified-local-pages-from-plus/. While GMB is still vital to a local search campaign, Google+ as a social platform may be of questionable value.

If I optimize for a long tailed keyword, will I also catch the short keywords within it?
I usually optimize mainly for the short tail keyword, and try to include lots of diverse content that will also qualify my page to rank for long tail queries. Why? Because many of the long tail queries contain the short tail keyword within them. I will make an effort to place my most important long tail queries in the title tag to give the page extra ranking strength for them. If you have really strong content that is competitive with what is ranking on the first page of Google for a short tail query, you should not hesitate to go after the short tail query. If you can produce competitive quality content - Do Not Fear Competition - because where you have heavy competition there is also lots of traffic and lots of money changing hands. Optimize your page, make sure that is as good as you can make it, toss it up, and you will probably connect with traffic. Promote it as you feel necessary. Although I currently don't believe anyone who claims to understand RankBrain, I believe that it is going to strongly favor long tail content that is highly competitive.
