Interstitial Penalty?
At this point the interstitial "penalty" only affects mobile sites that show a full screen interstitial to readers. It's not really a penalty, but rather, what Google says is that it can cause a site to lose its "mobile friendly" label which could result in a reduction of rankings. What you are doing is pretty common and wouldn't result in a penalty. However, if it is really annoying to users and causes a lot of people to immediately click away and go back to the Google results then this could possibly negatively impact rankings. This would be a good case for A/B testing to see if you get significantly better user engagement when they don't see the popup. If so, then that's a sign that the popup is too intrusive.

Our satellite office isn't showing up on Google maps. How can we add it?
Thanks, Erick. We do have a verified listing for one of the locations (verified many months ago) and it isn't showing as expected. We're waiting on post cards for the other locations, but I am concerned that they won't show up either.

Moz not recognising url to setup a new account
Hey Kimberly, thanks for writing in. When I use the Hurl.it tool, I'm actually seeing a 500 internal server error from the site: http://www.screencast.com/t/q8ztS92saho, but that doesn't seem to be the main issue that is causing the error for our tools. When I curl the site as Rogerbot, I get a 403 Forbidden error for our crawler: http://www.screencast.com/t/x6hfVJj85I. Unfortunately, this means that your server is specifically blocking Rogerbot from accessing the site, so you would need to work with your webmaster to white-list our crawler in order to create a campaign for your site. Once we are allowed access to the site, the 500 internal server error would also become an issue, so I would have the webmaster for the site look into that, as well. I hope this helps!

Moz is advising that a page has too many of the same keywords.
Depending upon the keyword and context this could be an issue. The biggest concern is obviously the appearance of keyword stuffing the page, and the percentage of content on the page that is not that keyword. Is the keyword necessary in the product name? E.g. A category of Rome Tours, and you list all of the tours as "Rome Tour of Pantheon", "Rome Tour of St. Peter's Square", "Rome Tour of Spanish Steps", etc... I could probably be more helpful if you could provide an example...

Merging Two Unrelated Sites into a Third Site
If marketing/branding feels like they want all of them to be consolidated under the brand, I would go ahead and move forward, and just be sure to cover my typical site merger bases. From my experience, it ends up happening at some point, so you might as well take advantage of the extra press, etc. that is likely happening from the merger to get it right as soon as possible.

Blog - subdomain vs. subfolderq
Hi Erick, Thanks for the response. It all makes sense to me, and I'll push for it. I'll have to build a case of why we want to go with a subfolder, so having feedback and real life case studies from others is great! Thanks!

Display:None CSS & SEO
My reply is.... When we made a couple of pages that had text revealed with a click, those pages were really really big pages, with about 5000 words total. We just though that it would be easy for the visitor to make a short easy menu with the answers opening with a click. It was an experiment that I had no intentions of doing other places, because I believe that text behind a click is not seen by lots of people. So, we tried it. Long tail traffic that was really valuable disappeared. So, now, I put all of my text out in the open where everyone can immediately see it. If I write text (and I write lots of it), I want it to be out there where everybody can see it. I want them to scroll down the page, see every bit of it, whistle and say "holy smoke".

Only homepage is ranking after site re-launch
Thanks for the link via PM. You have 20,000 links from Chinese spam. Your main anchor text is like 56%. Your main homepage is a country selector page. Meta titles are almost all related to the same 3 keyphrases. I'll PM you - but yes, I see more than a couple problems.

Big drop in Domain Authority on 17 Nov 2015
Hi there. It's not me suggesting it, it's Rand Fishkin (founder of MOZ) saying it - check the link I refer to in my answer. Second paragraph. (It's quoted in my answer as well)

Client wants to show 2 different types of content based on cookie usage - potential cloaking issue?
Thanks Peter - I didn't know you could do that. I'll pass it on to the developers (who might already know, but wouldn't hurt to reinforce its importance).

Moving From HubSpot Help
Hi Jay Here's what I'd do: Create your new WordPress site As Matt says, try to keep your URLs the same if possible. You can probably adjust these with your Permalink Settings: https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks If the URLs are the same, no need for redirects. If they are different, you can do 301 redirects with either a redirect plugin or directly in the .htaccess file You can check everything when you're done by running a crawler, like Moz's crawl tool or Screaming Frog SEO Spider. Fix any additional 404s you find by redirecting them.

Measure impact from new meta descriptions
Hey Chris, I recently did the same thing, I looked at traffic from organic to the specific pages I changed the meta descriptions for. I did 20 for my top sellers and 20 for my slow sellers and watched for incremental increases YoY and WoW through GA. I did see increases although small, will impact my overall traffic in bulk - I have educated the rest of the business and now we write better meta descriptions. Although your method seems sound and as Matt said ultimately you want to make sure you are converting those people too. All the best, K

Where and how much; Schema best practices.
So here's one issue I have; I don't have the company name plastered all over the place. The only place that it actually appears in text format is in the footer. Site image in only in the header, hours of operation are only on the contact page. http://grinbaum.moderninterface.net/ Currently I only have the contact page marked up, and I brought in a hidden div so I could mark up the info that appears only in the header and footer. What would you suggest?

Pros/Cons on Where to Host Stores for Ecommerce Solution Provider (subdomain vs. throwaway domain, etc)
Thanks for the help here Matt! We've had issues in the past with penalties from unnatural linking networks derived from subdomains, so that will certainly be a focus here. Appreciate it!
