While it is rather peculiar for this statistic to have jumped so rapidly, it looks to be stemming from a more extensive indexing of the site's internal links, which you can see here: https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/comparisons?site=www.propchill.com I can't necessarily speak to why all of those internal links were indexed this time around, but I do hope it helps to clarify where those links were being found!

The most important thing to do is to have generous amounts of informative text.  Lots of people use the same images, you can still have a good website if the text is generous in amount, unique, and meaningful.

Disallow sounds like a fair solution. Has this not worked? The not found errors in Webmasters can be a bit wonky in my experience. For a long time after a domain change, I was getting "not found" errors that weren't linked from anywhere. Anything that was linked was properly redirected. I don't know if they have cached sitemaps or what was going on with that. I'd like to know more about how that works myself, but the point is, it may take some time of that stuff reappearing before it finally goes through.

Hi there. I never worked or heard about this company. However, very easy way to check if company is any good with their SEO services is to see how they rank for related keyphrases. So, that's what i did - using MOZ's rank tracker i checked their domain for three seo related keyphrases - seo denver, ppc denver and social media marketing denver - they are not in top 50 for any of these keyphrases. I understand that this industry is competitive, but if they can't make themselves rank on first 5 pages - something is wrong. Therefore I personally wouldn't go with them. Hope this helps.

Hi there. Yes, you should. Especially if summary contains parts of full article content or is very close in its content. Basically, if there is any chance that summary can rank for keyphrases, same as full article - do canonicalizing. Hope this helps.

If I were in your situation, I would probably do exactly as you say you're going to do. EDIT: maybe using Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager to verify the account would let you take off the part of reaching out to the IT guys, but if they work fast enough it's the same.
