I have two agencies fighting over Javascript and I am tired of trying to figure out who is right so I have a question. The website I oversee (www.seminis-us.com) utilizes the onYouTubeIframeAPIReady to play videos from YouTube.
One agency utilized GTM to install tracking parameters for the videos that overrode the Javascript in the YouTube iFrame API and caused all videos not to play. I am not sure what tool they are using to capture the video metrics (average time viewed, abandonment, ended, etc.) but I was pretty sure that the YouTube iFrame API had similar reporting metrics built in.
Is this the case or would I need to have the YouTube Analytics API installed too?
I found this link here that has some of the functions and events, but I cannot discern if they are the same metrics. https://developers.google.com/youtube/iframe_api_reference#Events
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
