  • Donnleath, I wouldn't worry too much about this. In fact, Google has been rewriting title tags for about 3 or 4 years, now. Google, for whatever reason, has decided to rewrite your title tag for you if the one you're using better matches the actual search query being used by the searcher. It's quite possible that if your home page, for example, ranks for one search query they will rewrite it but for another search query they won't rewrite it. Google will use, from time to time, your brand name, company name, and even elements of your site's navigation to rewrite your title tag. I've seen them take internal links from a site's navigation and breadcrumb trail and use those words in the title tag. In your case, what you need to decide is if the title tags that Google is rewriting are better or 'worse' for your searchers. If they're worse, then you might consider looking at your site's navigation and breadcrumb trail to see if there's something that you can fix on your site to maybe influence Google to rewrite them another way. If you see that Google is rewriting ALL of those title tags, though, on all pages, then you might want to take a look at your site's title tags and see if they do need to be rewritten, taking what Google is suggesting, into account.

  • I would try and be as on the ball as possible with disavowing links that need it, even if there has been no penalty. One of the first things I look to do when onboarding a new client is review the current disavow file (if there is one) or looking at their backlink portfolio to find potential spam. The spam tool on Moz is quite good at finding these links but make sure you cast your eye over them first as it's likely some good links will have got caught up in there. Just be careful - it's hard to come back from making a mistake with the disavow process!

  • I ran into the same problem with that plugin - but I've tried everyone that WP currently has to offer and didn't see that option on any of them. My guess would be that they're not currently using it because AMP is only showing in the carousel right now, which doesn't pull in meta descriptions. I suspect they'll be updating it accordingly as Google continues to put more emphasis on AMP. *edit - As of Tuesday, Google is including AMP in the core search results, so hopefully plugin update is coming soon

  • Hi there One thing to remember is that Google and Bing are two separate search engines with different crawlers and different processes. This could just be a matter of Bing not seeing your images yet. One thing I would do, is create a Bing Webmaster Tools profile and submit your sitemap to them. This will definitely help you! Keep in mind that you don't have to create a second sitemap, you can include images in your regular sitemap XML. (ScreamingFrog can do this for you!) Also, take a look at Schema opportunities that will help you tag images on pages properly. There have been studies that show that pages with Schema rank higher than a page without Schema, so it only helps you there as well! Be patient, it sounds like you're on the right path, but with search engines, it's unfortunately a waiting game sometimes and it sounds like you're no different than the rest of us! Hope this helps!   • Hi there. Hreflang is only for pages with multiple languages. So, in your case, it would be homepage only. No need to add "fake" hreflangs to other pages.

  • Hi Joseph It's usually totally fine to leave your company name in there by default. Then if a particular page title is too long, you can edit the title tag on an individual page basis and create a title without the business name.

  • Hey John, I'm going to try to go through all of your answers, one by one: 1. Can it hurt us to blog at a high volume (4 blogs per day) in an effort to include all of our keywords and attach them to state and city specific keywords (ie. "keyword one" with "keyword one city" and "keyword one different city")? Yes, if the articles end up too short or too similar. 4 posts per day isn't necessarily a bad pace, it's just the quality of the writing that can get you into trouble. I don't know what your service is, but, do you need to have a variation for every city? I work for a business that provides city-specific services, but we write blog posts that are relevant for the whole nation, then have pages describing what we offer for each city. We do have some location-specific content, but most of our blog posts are not. Here's the way I'd figure it out: when people are looking for a given keyword, do they usually use the city name? When you search for the keyword without the city name, does Google return map results? If the answers are no, you can write one article that isn't location specific, and Google will rank it in all locations. **2. Is it more valuable to blog only a couple of times per month with deeper content, or more times per month with thinner connect but more keyword involvement? ** Totally depends on your industry. And company. Deeper content can rank for more keywords and has a better chance of getting inbound links, but it can limit the keywords you target. You really need to think about ... (next question) ... 3. Our customers are forced to use our type of product by the government. We are one of the vendors that provide this service. Because of this our customers may not care at all about anything we would blog about. Do we blog for them, or do we blog for the keyword and try and reach partners and others who would read the content and hope that it also ranks us high when our potential customers search? You should write content that appeals to whoever makes the decision to use your product. How often does the government choose whether or not to provide your service? If there's any chance at all that you could eventually lose your contract, write content that appeals to the people who choose vendors. How can you make their decision to work with you easier? Write articles about how your service solves their problem easily. Interview some government officials. Make it clear that you understand them. Also, write about whatever your company is knowledgeable in, so it's clear that you're the thought leader in your space. If it's really unlikely that you'll lose your government contract, or the government track doesn't work, I'd just focus on the last part: what knowledge does your company have that others don't? OKCupid, for example, got great links through their blog, which showed in depth analysis of how we date (making it a great purchase for Match.com, who, alas, stopped blogging). Pinterest developers have a Tumblr called Pingineering that talks about how their engineering team tackles big data issues (granted, this isn't on their site, but they're not struggling for links or rankings). 4. Is there an advantage/disadvantage or does it matter if we have multiple blog authors? Nope. Go for it. Hope this helps! Tawny from Moz's Customer Support team here.  ​ Open Site Explorer and the Link Analysis page of campaigns are both tied to our Mozscape index, which tends to update roughly once a month. Just a few points on how we compile our index: We grab the most recent index. We take the top 10 billion URLs with the highest MozRank (with a fixed limit on some of the larger domains). We start crawling from the top down until we've crawled ~130 billion URLs The idea here is that we're focusing on the highest-quality links we can find, coming from the most prominent pages of authoritative sites. So, while you may not see every link for a site within our index, we're aiming to report the most valuable ones available! Most new sites and links will be indexed by our spiders and available in Mozscape and Open Site Explorer within 60 days, but some take even longer for many reasons - including the crawl-ability of sites, the number of inbound links to them, and the depth of pages in subdirectories. You can see our most recently updated schedule here as well as some more technical metrics on our Mozscape API Updates page. You can also see when the last and next updates happened on the Open Site Explorer (OSE) homepage at any time. Since Moz focuses on quality of links over quantity, we are always focused on the most relevant links to display to our users. It's possible that Moz's index will leave out some of the lower-quality (non-link juice providing) links out of our index because of this. So, that might explain why you may see some discrepancies with what other tools may be showing.   • Oleg is right, you should disavow them. Google won't know (most likely) that you did them--unless your social media ID is tied to them. But, nonetheless, I would disavow them. If those links are only a small percentage of your overall links (less than 1 percent of total links) then you probably won't see any changes, and they will probably not hurt your rankings. But, if they're a large percentage of your links, then you might want to get them removed completely.

When you add new report combinations between your regularly scheduled update for URLs that aren't already in the rankings, you will see the [No Title] message and no data for the page score. This is because we aren't able to record new data for these reports between weekly updates. Once your campaign updates again for the next week, we will automatically record this report information and the title and page score will then display in the Track & Monitor list.   • being a standard drupal setting doesn't mean it makes SE friendly anyway I have no backup for that theory, I'm just assuming that new sites should be as simple as possible in order to google to get a better grasp of them and start trusting before complicating thing in an unnecessary way, unless the node url is adding any value to you, I would get rid of it and 301 it to its canonical.

  • Hi Gianluca, I also have a translation for Latin American Spanish, what is the best way to target that? Do I need a site for each country? Or should I just call it "es" and use the same site for each country that I need to target?
