My case it not quite that an incorrect page is ranking. It is the right ones, but I want to change the URL for these pages to optimise that part also, since the keywords are not included in the URLs right now.

Hi there, Thanks for your reply. Yeah, I know that I don't have to focus on our competitors and I don't. We do our thing, we write blog posts on a regular basis about many different topics (not only related to our direct market) and our competitors and most companies from Latvia (this is where we are from) are not doing anything in this area at all (I mean content marketing). And that is why I am just wondering how come our page/website is below our competitors who are not doing anything, their website is way too outdated and not mobile optimised and they don't even have a blog on their webisite... Just seems really strange to me if you know what I mean Ok, will try to work on link building activity and try to get as many other websites related to our industry to point at our website. Thank you Bernadette for that response and help. That’s what I thought would be the solution. Am I correct in assuming that because the http version is currently being indexed that there would most likely be an associated temporary drop in results while Google sorts everything out? – Because they are a seasonal-heavy business I’m trying to plan this accordingly so any experience/insight would be appreciated. I like the banner idea. Maybe what I'd do is use a canonical so people could still view the article, but then also put in a banner.

I am also having this same issue where I am receiving a duplicate title error for paginated pages even though they have canonical urls set and use the prev and next tags. Is there a solution for this?

Yes, a canonical tag will fix that. You might also want to check with your developer to see if they can redirect the /default page to / without it creating a redirect loop.

Schema.org shouldn't be able to get you into duplication issues. It's meant to be duplicated in there.

Not sure what exactly outcome you want to have. But I think whatever benefit you will get, won't last long. If the Website B has a higher DA you are likely get a better benefit from a subdomain.  The redirection benefit will flow to website B since it is ultimate destination. But it has higher DA anyway so you are not getting benefit to website A
