  • I think the  second link is showing as duplicate because the page has exact same title. I did face similar issue and I added "Page=n" to the title using the software. This may or may not be possible in the software you have but essentially the links are not showing the same pages and so there title should be different.

  • Many thanks Kristen, I appreciate the answer being specific to the question Yes, we've racked our brains over this one. The business serves London almost uniquely but the HQ is further out. I wonder if anyone has found away around this that works? This is interesting and a bit of a minefield. I guess the only thing we can do is test. Hopefully Penguin 4 will ensure quicker feedback on testing than previously.

  • Moz spam score should be looked as guidance and not a last word. I had some legitimate sites directories shown as spam as directories tend to have lot more outgoing links then the content on the page. And I would have lost , lots of traffic and link juice I would be getting if I consider spam. And some of the sites are high domain authority and really good research resources. I do not agree anything above score 14 is "definitely" spam. But it is "likely" spam

  • Any resources on how to get rid of the canonical tag for those pages, and also categories and tags? I found something in Stackoverflow but I'm copying and pasting it into my header.php page and it's not working... so I feel a little clueless. Any ideas? http://stackoverflow.com/questions/32372589/how-to-remove-rel-canonical-from-tag-pages-in-wordpress

  • Hi there! Tawny from Moz's Support Team here! That's a great suggestion for a feature request! I'll pass it along to the product team and see what they think. Maybe it's something that could be included in future updates to the tool. Thanks for writing in!

  • Hi JK, Thanks for the reply. First of all, this is an old article, and many (if not all) of the information given has changed in Google search algorithms. In the case you are describing, in nowadays SEO (2019), I'd suggest you not to focus on having any keyword weight in the domain/subdomain. Keep both services in the same domain, under the same company name. Google will understand that its the same company offering two services. Of course, you should have different pages for both services. Probably would be of help, creating really good content to give context and use internal linking to tell Google which are your main pages and targeted search terms. Hope it helps. Best luck. Gaston

  • Hi Jazee, I'm afraid that is not possible. What you can do is "play" with the Page title of the  www.repairshop.com/bmwrepairs. Something like this BMW - Repairs That way you will be calling the attention on what you truly wish. On the other hand, it seems to have more sense to redirect the other way. A 301 carries  the rank, either good or a bad one. Mª Verónica B.

  • Have you done anything funny that would warrant your site being removed? Google only notifies webmasters of manual penalties if I am not mistaken.

  • Completely agree with Rob! Doesn't matter in any way usually if you keep or remove it. Even as a publisher ourselves we tested it and what we mostly noticed is that almost nobody cares ;).

  • In general, if you are writing about information that is commonly available on many websites, then that information can be considered to be "common industry knowledge" - and most authors would not use citations.   Facts that would likely be in the body content of an introductory college textbook would also be considered as "common industry knowledge". However, if you are stating specific information that might only be available from one or a few sources, then a citation is a proper thing to do.  Also, if you are giving facts or advice that you feel it is important to give others credit or responsibility, citations are good there too. The above is what I generally do for writing content for a specific industry.  I also tend to use more citations where parts of my writing approach the limits of my firmly confident knowledge. You are obviously doing research and visiting sites that you think would be superior to your own.  What is their practice on citations?  That might be a guide for you too.

  • Actually my question wasnt't about the img itself, was the fact that i don't use only the image as anchor. We use the  whole block. Anyway, thanks for answering.

  • Hey Bernadette thanks for the insight. I agree that creating a second site is not the best option. Unfortunately we really do not have the luxury of setting up a sub domain. Because of countless outside (and internal) forces we must open the store as described above.

  • Hi Donald Woops! My mistake. I see your client is a real estate attorney, not a real estate firm. So sorry about that. Interestingly, as far as Local SEO goes, some of the same issue apply in terms of both industries commonly featuring multi-partner practices and that rolling out as citation confusion. But, you say you've done a good job of managing their citations and want advice beyond the average checklist of local search basics, I have two thoughts: I'm hoping you may get some more feedback from community members with legal clients. I haven't personally worked with more than a handful of lawyers over the years and don't have any tips that would be stunners specific to the industry. Are you aware of NiftyLaw? They're a subsidiary of NiftyMarketing.com, owned by Mike Ramsey. You might comb through their blog (http://niftylaw.com/blog/) to see if they are giving away any gems, or, if the client is really having a hard time, you might even consider consulting with them. Hope this helps!

  • I think few people are in the circumstance of EGOL, so it would be best not to follow his lead. The internet changes so rapidly that you need to be predictive. What is the next big thing? What will Facebook do? In my crystal ball, I think that Facebook will take on Google and Yelp.  They are already trying, but I think they'll get better at it. So, if Facebook becomes Google, most businesses will want to be there, with a Facebook Page that has a good number of likes and a couple updates a month at least. No need to go overboard, but make sure the page doesn't look abandoned. Plus, Facebook and the other social sites rank really well on Google. Does a business want to give up that real estate? When someone looks up my company by name in Google they see Company website Company Yelp page - with 5 Star Rating Company LinkedIn Page Person LinkedIn Page Company Facebook Page - with 5 Star Rating Company Angie's List Page Some stinky competitor trying to rank for my biz name Personal Experts Page Company Groupon Page Thumbtack Consolidator Without social, people would see several of my competitors who try to optimize for my name "Get on the Map" and some dull profiles from websites like Manta.
