  • Thanks Matt, I do have Search Console, sorry for not making that more clear in my question. I've experimented with if I can ask it to crawl a page I know Google knows (it allows me to) but I couldn't see any evidence of it doing anything with that index. Are you suggesting then that asking it to crawl a page already in its index does have an effect? If that is the case or if that is all I can do then perfect

  • Hey Trazo--yes, you'll need to add the different variations of your domains to GSC. You should create separate properties for these URLs, then make a set of them (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6338828?hl=en). In order to indicate to Google the primary URLs (www vs non-www), you'll need each url to be set up as a property. As for your SSL question, are you serving both SSL and non-SSL URLs on your domain? If you're not, and all the URLs on your site are SSL, you should make sure any non-SSL url counterparts are forwarding to the correct SSL version.

  • So those sitelinks you see for [squatty potty website] are what I want showing up for [squatty potty] as well. I see a couple text links is all, not expanded full sitelinks.

  • Hey Dieter, I might have considered a more dynamic/interactive solution for showing multiple variations/colors of the same product (gallery/Javascript, etc.). My concern would be as follows: Each time you ask a user to refresh or visit a new page in a purchase funnel, you're increasing the likelihood of a lost opportunity. If a single-page option is not possible, you are right to look at a noindex or canonical solution. Personally, I'd recommend the canonical solution. This way, any existing link juice (if any) is being attributed from extraneous to the primary product URL. Best of luck to you. -Brian

  • There's a old use case, but I can't seems to be able to find it googling right now. I remember reading it before to switch few websites to ssl, at least two years ago. Anyhow they examined few websites before and after switching to standard ssl (some) and ev ssl (some others), and they found out the conversion rate didn't change with standard ssl, and it decrease with ev ssl. Why could it be? Not clear. Probably because no one noticed the change to ssl, while ev ssl being so prominent lead some to notice it. And as it often happen if a buyer is not concerned of something and you rise the topic to him you feed a doubt, and when you feed a doubt you delay a purchase, and when a purchase is delayed is potentially lost.

  • Hi there, This is a great question. Recently I've found that Google is placing high value on photos on a business's GMB profile. Because of this, I suggest that you do not use one set of interior photos for all of the locations. While I don't think you will necessarily get penalized, it's probably best to follow the guidelines Google has in place In case they do penalize you later down the road -- and then you would have to go back and make adjustments after the fact. Even if it takes some time, I would focus on getting photos of each individual location for their profile.

  • I think your folder structure is fine.  If the helpdesk is a single page and you're not gonna have any content depth pages below that then you should be able to get rid of the trailing slash. If you're going to have content that would fall specifically under the helpdesk then I would say make that a folder and add your pages underneath that and include helpdesk in the URL structure.

  • Hi there! <dl> <dd>Google will not always show your meta description, the likelihood of your meta description appearing in the search results increases incredibly when your meta description contains the sought for keyword though, which is why the focus keyword functionality checks for the appearance of the focus keyword in the description.</dd> </dl> Google’s own Matt Cutts put together a great video that dissects how snippets work and how they pull from various parts of the page when they deem it necessary. • Hi Brian, Piggybacking off Kevin's answer, I agree. Typical FAQ questions and answers are all on one page, but if your answers will have enough content (depending on the question), then I would suggest building out individual pages. Some tips, make sure you directly write out the question be answered and then concisely answer it. The better your answer, the great the opportunity you have to rank in Postion 0 on Google. An FAQ page is a great opportunity to grab this position -- which puts you above all the other organic listings. Read more on Position 0 here: http://www.bluecorona.com/blog/position-0-google-rankings/amp/ To increase your chances of being featured as one of Google’s rich answers, you should: Identify a simple question and include that question within the text of your page Provide a direct answer right after the question Offer valued added info Make it easy for users (and Google) to find Use ordered lists, bullets, or tables that Google can read to take up more real estate in the “zero” ranking spot Learn more about featured snippets and rich snippets from Google » Hope this helps -- let me know if I can help with anything else.

  • I agree. This is going to make the title tags too long. Instead build out individual service pages for each location so you can include the city in the title tag of each of those pages.

  • Hello, First of all claim (with the same google "owner" account) the location. Then sign in to Google My Business. Click Duplicate locations at the top of the page, then click the location you'd like to remove. Review the location. Make sure the business information for the duplicate location is included in the location that will remain in your account. Make sure that the photo URLs, ad-specific fields, and store codes are up-to-date in the location that you are keeping. Click the back arrow in the top-left corner to return to your location list. Click Remove duplicate on the right side of the location you'd like to remove. Find more: https://support.google.com/business/topic/4669096?hl=en&ref_topic=6377390

  • Hi there Linda! I agree with Oleg. I would sort through the reviews and see which service or product they mention, and then place the review on the page for that service or product! That way you're not just adding content to add it, but adding relevant content that could help convince people on the site.

  • One last update Both sitemaps now only show 1320 indexed pages each or 2640 total. So the non secure urls in the xml sitemap did fall off a few days after submitting them. The site is still fully indexed in google but overall impression share has fallen according to GSC. GA shows slight increases in overall organic traffic.

  • Actually, the 62 domain has no content directly associated with it, it has only ever been used to redirect to the 91-score (it's actually 92, I see now) domain. It's function is purely marketing, as it is a more momorable word than the 92 domain. Thanks for your answer!
