Is paraphrasing tool reliable?
Several brand new accounts have recently come and posted here, with their only posts being ones that discuss this tool. It is a bit odd.

Blocking Dynamic Search Result Pages From Google
Hi, So the main issue with dynamic search results is that they won't have unique content, and will quite often duplicate other pages, as you've discovered. E.g. Products under £10, Products under £20, and Products under £30 would all include content from the first, and then the first and second categories. The usual answer is to just noindex all of them, particularly if individual product pages are your focus and ranking well. Unless you specifically want to rank for 'x products under £10' then there's no issue with removing them from search results. You have a couple of options for doing this - either by noindexing any dynamic search content via robots.txt, or Noindex,Follow, which still allows crawling, but won't display the results. In general, I'd say that Noindexing the dynamic search results with a wildcard is easiest and most effective. If you did have something you wanted to rank - then it's be a case of setting a specific search result with some unique content describing that category etc. Dan

In our reports we get alt tag errors for our banner images. We are unable to add alt tags to the banner images as they live inside CSS. We can add a title tag on the div title for the banner. Does that help with SEO and accessibility?
Instead of using javascript, will adding a title tag within a div help with SEO and accessibility?

Redirects & Authority when Updating Product Pages
Hi Becky Essentially yes although htaccess is for Apache servers only so check with your developer/platform host that they have been inserted correctly. Then find a few old URLs and satisfy yourself they are redirecting to the new ones, Best Regards Nigel

Duplicate content issues with file download links (diff. versions of a downloadable application)
Jon, If there is no content and these pages are just the download link then instead of putting a canonical link on them, set them as noindex. I assume you have a landing page that directs people to your downloads, this is where you should optimize your content to get organic traffic, the direct download pages (with 0 content) will have no real value from a search perspective.

Two divisions, same parent company, identical websites
Hi, Katarina! Thanks for this very thorough response - I'm beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel. When you say stress the address via directories, you are referring to making sure my external listings and directories are current, consistent, correct, yes? Just confirming you are not recommending something internal to the site? We are writing out driving directions where possible, and using the google maps api to display the location. Also, we won't have unique images for the products - I might be able to do something to edit them differently, but they are the same thing. Will naming them uniquely matter? For the rest, we are writing, writing, writing! The client had no idea their former developer (yup, they paid someone to do this to them) had done a bad thing, and when I first read their GA and MOZ data (before we really dove into the content on each page and realized it had literally been pasted from one site to the other), I thought the data had to be wrong, ha! We're pursuing the suggestion about unique content, and think we have a way way to enough of it to matter. Thanks for taking the time to answer. I will try to post some before and after scores when we are done.

How much of an issue is JS?
Hi SwanseaMedicine, Have a read of this hidden content experiment by Reboot Online: https://www.rebootonline.com/blog/hidden-text-experiment/ It was a very well-run experiment and, in summary, they found that visible content outperformed hidden content. However, this will change once Google's mobile-first index rolls out (sometime in 2018?) where hidden content will be given full weight (source). Cheers, David

Single topic website or as part of a multiple topic website?
Hey Kate, I'd stick with the original one. In case of changing, you'd risk drop in rankings for 18 months which is quite long period of time. On top of that, Google likes bigger pages so multiple topic shouldn't be a problem. Cheers, Martin

Query based site; duplicate content; seo juice flow.
No problem. And there are ways around presenting the same content differently. It's hard to be specific without being able to know what the product is, but it's something I've had to solve for various clients, whether it's been for software or actual products.

Is Canonical Tags a Good Option With 2 Similar Sites?
We had this issue with products which we sell on two different websites, that Google would rank one or the other, randomly swapping them out for each other in the rankings. We used cross-domain canonicals to solve this and it has fixed the issue for us, i.e. the website we want to rank now ranks for these products, the other one doesn't. If you use canonicals, it will most likely mean that only the main page will rank (the canonical URL).

Do any presentation sites, Slideshare, Google Slides, HaikuDeck offer great SEO links?
That's a great idea Dan. I could give them a slide presentation and let them post it on their blog.

Infographic Backlinks - Anything to watch out for?
@Zack Barton Thanks for the info. What would you class as bad neighbourhood ? im looking to post my infographic to about 25 websites with dofollow backlinks. They all are above DA20 and the spam score is 1-2/17 on most of them. There are a few that have spam score 4-5 out of 17. Is there something else i should be looking out for ? Thanks for any info in advance. Kind Regards Rory
