.com or .me for freelance business?
I would really try to get a ".com" even if you have to slightly alter your URL to not just be your brand name. Alot of people will add their city or a service that they are associate with or provide after their brand name ("www.abcwebsitedesign" or "adcnewyork" as examples).

Language Tunnel - Help!
Hi there, I'm not sure if you'll like my reply or not but this is something that we've done before when we faced a somewhat similar situation with a client. We implemented redirects using some regex code...basically filling out the spaces where you would have stuff like /us /us /es with regex jolly jokers so that any page which would fit the bill would be redirected with one smooth piece of code. have a good day

Restructuring URLS - unsure if this falls on the spammy side of paths.
Which idea did you decide against please? Surely having more paths would work better for breadcrumbs would it not? Are you saying you think /courses/girls-only looks more spammy than /girls-only-course/ ? Thank you

Do I need to worry about these 404s after changing permalinks structure?
Hi Mark, Have you figured out if the URLs that are 404'ing are still mentioned somewhere. Either in the canonical tags or somewhere else or that something is wrong with the redirects? Martijn.

New SEO manager needs help! Currently only about 15% of our live sitemap (~4 million url e-commerce site) is actually indexed in Google. What are best practices sitemaps for big sites with a lot of changing content?
Hi Hamish I'm not sure how many products you have listed on your website but I am only guessing that it is not 4m of even 400,000. I think the question you should be asking yourself is 'do I really need so many URLs?' If you have 50,000 products in your site then frankly you only need maybe 51000 pages in total (including support pages, brands (maybe), categories and sub-categories. I am only guessing but I would suggest that the other pages are being created by tags or other attributes and that these elements are creating acres of duplicate and very skinny content. My usual question is - 'so you have 400,000 (never mind 4m) pages in Google? - did you write or generate 400,000 pages of useful, interesting, non-duplicate and shareable content? The answer of course is usually no. Try switching off sets of tags and canonicalizing very similar content and you'll be amazed how it helps rankings! Just a thought Regards Nigel Carousel Projects.

Do I need to add the actual language for meta tags and description for different languages? cited for duplicate content for different language
Hi. If you are getting duplicate content warnings between the Mandarin version of your website and a website in a different language, the first thing I'd suggest looking into is to see if your code correctly uses the alternate/hreflang attributes to specify the different versions of the pages in different languages. This tag is intended for sites that have translated content from one language to another and gives you a way to tell Google that the Mandarin version of the page is at this URL, the Spanish version is this URL, the English site is at this other URL, and so on. In terms of title, descriptions, and all other content, you do want to make that specific to the language of the page. So, your Mandarin website would have titles, descriptions, etc. written in Mandarin and your English website would have titles, descriptions, etc. in English, and so on. After all, your Mandarin website is intended for people speaking (and searching in) Mandarin so using that language throughout will increase your chances of ranking for that audience.

What Should be the URL of third party blog for my website
Hi, Im afraid this could be just a waste of time for you. Why would you invest time and effort to build a few more blogs (and fed them with content) when you can approach this via a proper back linking strategy? Find out where you can submit articles, get in touch with your industry websites with good domain authority and see what you can do to get backlinked. If you keep referral traffic/PR in mind, this can bring a lot more value (high quality traffic) to you than just a number of backlinks from artificially created blogs for the backlink purposes. I hope this helps Thanks Katarina

Supplier Videos & Duplicate Content
Hi Becky It all comes down to intent. Whether you want to attract visitors to your page or your Youtube channel. There is no direct SEO benefit by having a Youtube video on your page, you are essentially adding an outbound link even if it's nofollow - however it does provide really valuable information for the user. If cost is an issue and you feel you have no alternative then I would use a Youtube video. The other benefit is that the video will be seen on that platform, the second biggest search network, and people searching for that product may click a link back to you. So if you are going to add videos to YouTube then make sure they are fully optimised. Fill in the description fully with the a link back to your product page in the first line (It won't help with SEO as they are nofollowed - but it may result in people following the link back to your site) Fully brand the video to heighten your own company's brand awareness - so maybe a 4 second sting at the beginning - then the video then a branded placeholder at the end. Also make sure all of the tags are filled in for search & location etc are filled in advanced options. MOZ use Wistia as a form of self hosting but do in fact put some videos on Youtube some months later. There is a new year video on Youtube - posted in May! (5 months later) - They title the two videos slightly differently so that they get two bites of the cherry for searchers. (Look up 'How To Create An SEO Strategy in 2017) Finally: Note that Zappos do not use Youtube - Kind of says it all really! http://www.zappos.com/p/rockport-essential-details-waterproof-apron-toe-dark-brown/product/8151504/color/325 I hope that helps! How to find out related keywords? e.g. business = commercial
Hi, SemRush will analyse your full page that is optimised for that keyword and scan Google results that compete when it comes to that keyword. It will suggest how to optimise your content and list all words that are desirable in the copy. It will also suggest where to get backlinks from. If your want to manually generate semantically related words, there is a number of tools, for example semantic-link.com - it will be a manual process of selection for you as there might be many generated and only a few will suit you. Hope this helps a bit. Katarina
