Updating sitemap automatically
If you are logged in to your google account there is no reason why not, but as suggested - resubmission from webmaster tools is probably the better bet. If you are on an apache server you could also set the sitemap to be pinged with the major SE's via a chron job.

Content served in javascript
The cache will still show the page (mostly) formatted properly when viewed in a browser because it is just giving you back the full HTML, instead use one of the GoogleBot Spoofers such as: http://www.smart-it-consulting.com/internet/google/googlebot-spoofer/index.htm I would however strongly urge against using javascript to display the main content of your page, user notifications and such is fine. If your referring to doing a full AJAX site, that is a slightly different discussion.

Duplicate canonical URLs in WordPress
Hi Matthew - not that I saw. It appears to be a feature built in and non-configurable. Lot's of indexation options but nothing for canonicals.

Today all of our internal pages all but completely disappeared from google search results. Many of them, which had been optimized for specific keywords, had high rankings. Did google change something?
Perhaps it is. Each of the pages is about a different office of the same firm. So the language is similar. I am trying to make each page as different as possible to see if it makes a difference. Any idea how long it will take to get back to where we were?

Minimum # of words on a homepage?
Hi Martin There is no magic number although I have heard 100, 150, 300, 450 all given as the "best practice". The minimum I would suggest would need to be an amount in which you could achieve mentioning the primary keyword naturally at least 2 or 3 times. I tend to use the text on a home page as an introduction mentioning the company name, what it does and where. More details are then provided on an about us page. This approach usually means that keywords, phrases and brands are covered in this text. There is obviously a balance to be achieved between providing not too much text for the user as we are told they don't read it but provide enough for the search engines to be happy.

Best practices for fixing 500 errors
Hi Josh, If you have a list of actual URLs which always return a 500 Error, the problem is a bug in the code. You should send the list of URLs to your developer and ask him/her to fix them. Often, once a bug is identified and fixed, it will correct all or most of the errors. If you check the URLs and find that the 500 Errors are intermittent (sometimes OK, sometimes returning an error), you should take a look at this question I answered about random 500 Errors. Hope that helps, Sha

Google Shopping Australia/Google Merchant Centre
To update this thread, finally starting to see feeds being approved. We use kissinsights on a lot of client sites and google is classify this as a popup and has rejected some feeds based on this. It seems if we setup a feed, have kissinsights disabled and wait 1-2 weeks it gets approved. If not approved within two weeks, logging a support ticket seems to get it sorted within a few days.

Two spaces between keywords?
is there a better alternative... Just opinion here... I would not use any of the three alternatives. Honestly... If I really wanted Name1Name2.com I would pay whatever they want to get it. Get on the phone and track them down. Hire a broker to track them. Go to domainer forum at last resort and offer $xxxxx... your best offer for the domain. Accept no substitue. If you can't afford that then go with a brandable domain like twitter, google, digg, etc
