  • Hi Mike, Thanks for your answer. Both organic and local. My main concern was whether displaying the 3 addresses in the footer  as well as just one of the addresses on each location page was a good idea. Thanks.

  • You can you a 301 to redirect back to the main page, but where is the anchor that refers to ./category in the first place? There is nothing showing up on your home page. Your can do a crawl test to try and isolate the erronous link. The two links your posted are the same page and both work for me.

  • Yeah it can get really confusing.  Here's the concept.  Each Root domain can have many subdomains, as well as sub-folders. Any link pointing to any subdomain or subfolder will provide some linking value to the entire root.  It's not as much as that individual subdomain or subfolder gets, however the cumulative impact is there and it's real. The reason is pretty straight forward - any sub, (domain or folder) is naturally associated with the root.  It contributes to the overall weight of that root. It's not unlike the branches of a tree.  While the rain may fall directly on a branch, some of the water has the ability to work it's way back to the main trunk of the tree. Just like water that seeps into the ground and soaks into the roots, can and will work it's way up the trunk and to the branches.

  • Any hosting or ISP packages for SEO are not really SEO packages at all, they're just submissions. At some point in the future there will hopefully be more transparency on this stuff, and companies will have to make a proper distinction where they can't just loosely use the term SEO, when they only offer something that is under 1% of what SEO really is.

  • It's going to be very difficult for sites to abuse the schema.org structure, though I don't doubt some will try. And if a site does go that route, it's essentially a deceptive business practice, which may cause them other problems.

  • That's a very serious consideration.  I wouldn't wander too far from the primary phrase, and would even consider leaving the primary phrase on that inner page then having two others on that page that are tightly focused and related. Add some internal links to those additional phrases, work on some inbound links with those.  Just be sure you don't let that slip away and have the overall page's focus diluted away from the primary.

  • I usually don't submit my content however, some of my visitors will do that.  Some of my articles will get a big spike of visitors from reddit (a few thousand) but the real traffic for me is from slashdot where I have gotten a hundred thousand visitors over two or three days.  Stumbleupon is also a good traffic source for me but instead of delivering a big spike of traffic I get a steady flow of a hundred to a thousand visitors a day. It takes a really special article or image or other type of content to get massive traffic from these sites.  Most of my content gets very little attention however a few times per year we see the slashdot effect.

  • Really useful info. Didn't know 1and1 did offer it and I'll check Maven too. I do own 6 different accounts in spanish hosting (my principal target) but they don't use to have more than a pair of C-class IP's per datacenter, so you get redundant after building a short "wheel" or you become crazy (the point I am lol). Thank you Marco
