  • Something that I also look at when checking rankings for different keywords(the very competitive ones esp) is to look at when google last cached each of the top results - I've found that this can sometimes lead to changes in rankings since our page has not been crawled in a few days and the few above ours just got crawled. Just a thought

  • Thank you for your answer. But do not you think that having the same content and between http://www.numeridanse.tv/http://www.numeridanse.tv/fr/ or http://www.numeridanse.tv/ andhttp: / / www.numeridanse.tv/en/, I can have some duplicate content? I know I can declare in Google Webmaster Tools, but you thinkthis may be enough for Google? Regards A.

  • 1. Does google index these links? In order for Google to index a page it needs to be able to crawl it. Crawlers are not able to activate functions on websites like 'search' or 'submit' buttons. Pages that you can only get to by submitting information cannot be indexed. For example, if you enter a competition online, very often you will need to enter your name and email address and click "Submit". You are then sent to a page that says 'thank you for entering'. This is an example of a page that will never be indexed, unless somebody links directly to it. (and its not blocked by robots.txt, but that's another story) In the same way, the crawlbots cannot do a search on Yahoo and then index the results page. The only way Google can index these pages is if somebody saves the SERP URL and then links to it from somewhere that the googlebot can index. So the answer is yeah, Google indexes some of these pages, but only a small few of them. 2. Does Google give any value to them? As Ronan said, search engines are just like any website, so their pages are just like any pages. It's unlikely that a SERP has a lot of inbound links (unless it's a particularly hilarious/interesting SERP) so the value of their link juice is unlikely to be very high. Let me know if any of that doesn't make sense and I'm happy to clarify - reading back it is quite heavy!

  • It sounds like you are thinking like this..... "Man, it is really hard to get links from other websites.  I just build a blog and use it to give links to my site." The links from a blog will not pass value unless it gets links from other websites.  Then most of that value will be stuck in the blog and only a tiny amount will pass out through the links that you have to your main site. So, if you really want to support your main site, publish the blog in a folder on the main site and fill with highly linkable content, fantastic content... then every link that hits the blog will count for the link popularity and domain popularity of your main site. With great content the blog can be a fantastic asset on your site.  In addition to attracting links it can be a showcase of your expertise and a reference for your visitors. Now about the .org.... it will have the same weight as a .com.  Google treats all types of domains equally.

  • The benefits of having it in the subfolder when the the topic is relevant to the main site are clear - another thing to remember is in terms of your marketing/link building work it's much easier to get strong links to your main site and then inner link to your blog/blog posts.
