I agree with Frederico everything he said is completely right on the money. If you are removing photographs and things that would not work well on a small screen then that is of course all right. Hello, What Peter says is partially true, weird thing is I Google the keyword from UK and they rank on page one for me as well. I did a quick keyword research for you and here is why I think they rank: partially EMD - they use part of the keyphrase in their domain. Before anyone jumps in and tells me how this is not as powerful as it used to be please run a test for property/location keyphrases or non-sales/money buying keywords. You will be surprised. Top 10 competition is quiet weak. I do not think I would have any problems ranking this web site with a couple of links and good quality articles There are 41 web sites in Google US that contain the keyword in both title and an external anchor text as per Market Samurai - again weak competition. Quality content properly promoted is the ultimate link building strategy. Consider how many artificial link building strategies from the past have eventually caused site owners problems. I'd post to your site first and when I was sure it was indexed, re-purpose it for social media. Best of luck!

Thanks Federico for the detailed response and quick feedback!  I was not 100% sure how subdomains were treated, so thank you for clearing that up. I definitely needed to pick some expert brains on this one. Looks like we will go with a separate WP install under a /learning/ directory just to provide our root domain with better authority from all this good content:)

Hi Christy, at the end the site started to recover the rankings naturally...

The best practice here is to create a sitemap index - a single sitemap XML file that lists each of the individual sitemap files. That then becomes the sitemap you reference in your robots.txt file and to help speed up the process of crawling, submit that through Google and Bing webmaster tools. (You only need to submit that index file - their systems will then "discover" all the individual files listed in it). See Google's sitemap index how-to.

Without going into a full site audit (which could take hours-days) a few areas I might take a closer look at: As others have mentioned, the site design does have an outdated feel. Beyond user experience it looks like a site that might be vulnerable to Panda updates. Relentlessly improving user experience will likely lead to an increase in rankings. Is the new site a copy of the old? Just wondering if any duplicate content exist out there from the old site. If you, you probably want to make sure to remove all old content from Google's index. I'd give the site a full link audit. You can do this by hand using Google Webmaster Tools and Open Site Explorer. Lately, I've been using Link Detox with good results. Disavow any dodgy links you can't remove. Overall your link profile looks decent for your vertical, nothing too penalty worthy but some of the directory-style links may be suspect (or at least lower in value) in Google's eyes. Just Discovered Links uses a different index from OSE. We have info about Just Discovered links at http://moz.com/blog/announcing-the-just-discovered-links-report. We discover those links via Twitter, and display them there. I'd use both for seeing what type of links competitors have.

Hi! Unfortunately, we're having known issues surrounding adding a G+ business page to your Moz Analytics campaigns right now. Our engineers have this in their top priority to work on, but I know it's really frustrating. You might try removing your personal page -- which was a bug when MA was first released and MA won't let you add a user profile anymore -- and then try adding your business page. Hope this helps!
