I go with the simple rule here, whenever dealing with the on-page optimization, try to go with the options that go best for users and search engine will come along. If you think having the same H1 as Title will serve users better then go for it and if you think you can craft a better H1 for users to engage with the website and continue their journey then try not to go with option one. Have you tried tools such as pingdom, page speed insights or yslow? These can all give you a good idea where to start.

Not a problem. If that's your only sidebar/footer link, you'll probably be just fine. In regard to any link building in the future, if you would give the site your credit card number without much thought, it's should be okay. If a site looks like a site/page only exists to serve exact match anchor text, that one should be avoided. (Think blog spam and most PHP link directories.)

Since it is shares and likes in a matching number for each page it sounds like the probably bought a service from a site like Fiverr to give them a certain amount of shares, follows, re-tweets, etc. They could also be using a program like Synnd to automatically get social shares. Either way, I wouldn't spend much time worrying about it.

WOW!! This is indeed a very long question! Let me start with the bad news that Google is tightening the space for low quality link builders and website that are using low quality spam but they are not finished and you will see some websites here and there (even in some busiest niches like SEO) that websites are ranking on money making keywords on the basis of low quality spam. The websites that are ranking for the terms “SEO Services”, “SEO Company” and related keywords sometimes contain hidden links in their link profile (not one or two but tons of them). If you notice these SERP positions over the period of time you will notice that these websites does not stay there for a longer period of time and results will change after every few months. The website, I was noticing 5 months back is nowhere for the term “SEO Company” at that time it was ranking on the first page somewhere above the fold for this keyword. Ok, so now your second question simply divides 2 type of SEO the unethical SEO and the ethical SEO. Both works well but one is short term while other is a long term game. Now it’s up to you, how you want to play! About Guest Blogging, yes Mat Cutts said its dead but, I have my personal opinion on this and I still believe if you can create value from your guest posts, you should go for it! If you follow someone on Google+, content they share will be biased higher in your search results, if you're logged in to Google yourself and don't have personal search results disabled. That's the only definite. Oh, I see what happened. The domain was misspelled initially. I found the right site with intitle operator. I was a little confused about the difference in geographic targeting. San Francisco not being in Florida and all. ; ) But it still holds that the instagram plugin uses a vulnerable version of prettyPhoto. It's a great idea to see if there's an update, or you'll definitely want to consider a replacement.

Hi Jason Glad you are liking the community so far! I would recommend starting with this post I did for Moz to help answer exactly these questions about WordPress and SEO: http://moz.com/blog/setup-wordpress-for-seo-success When you're starting out and have just a few tags (6 isn't much) it's not a huge deal, but for some sites as they grow it turns into 300+ tags without planning on it - then it's a little more of an issue. Not something that would cause a penalty per se, but just not great for the site to have those extra pages indexed and existing because they don't generally add any value (they are often similar to the posts themselves). I would use maybe 3-4 tags tops for any blog post. They are little detailed words to describe the content. Additionally, tags only have a utility if used as navigation in the site somehow: either a list of popular tags in the sidebar or sometimes you can click on the tags for each post at the bottom of the post. Lots of people try to make tags to rank in search engines but I have found this to be a bad strategy. In general, I recommend people to noindex tags as shown in the article. With the Yoast SEO plugin for WordPress you should also "noindex subpages of archives". Categories - I would create 5-7 categories that you will file all blog posts into - and only use those and don't let categories grow (don't keep adding new categories). If you have a lot of links that you can control the anchor text on, that's a pretty sure sign that you should remove them. These aren't the links that Google is going to reward or ignore in the long term. Whether you're currently being hurt by them would require a very thorough review on an expert's part, but I'm sure that links you place manually are links Google doesn't want to count. There are thoughts that Google is using its "link churn" patents to use the rate at which anchor text or links change as a part of rankings, but it's not known exactly how the mechanism works. Regardless, if the links are spammy and you're subtracting spammy links rather than adding, you won't get hit by any mechanisms designed to flag artificial rank manipulation. Do try to remove links before you disavow them. Disavow is a last-ditch option, and Google still won't accept it if no effort has been made at removal.

As a rule of thumb, I don't trust anything with PHP Link Directory in the footer. There's a few correlations here: 1. The anchor text used and the ranking lost are very close. 2. The number of links (and anchor text) from one place shot up dramatically in that time frame. 3. The ***linking site's link footprint appears to be pretty terrible as well. If you want, you can try Linkdetox Pro for 149 EU a month. Just take a couple of weekends and really sort it out. (I'm not affiliated with Linkdetox.com)

this would depend on if you're linking you're short URL that your domain. And what you're actually  use  totally.awe.sm I can say enough good things about it. I hope this helps you. You can also see exactly where your shares went. I believe that the Bitly enterprise edition has similar features. I hope this will help, Thomas

But generally when it comes to using a plugin for redirection, I go with the Redirection plugin (I know clever name ) But its the most popular plugin with 1.5 million downloads and for some good reasons its definitely a feature filled plugin, here are some neat things it does: 404 error monitoring - captures a log of 404 errors and allows you to easily map these to 301 redirects Custom 'pass-through' redirections allowing you to pass a URL through to another page, file, or website. Full logs for all redirected URLs Redirection methods - redirect based upon login status, redirect to random pages, redirect based upon the referrers Automatically add a 301 redirection when a post's URL changes Manually add 301, 302, and 307 redirections for a WordPress post, or for any other file Full regular expression support Apache .htaccess is not required - works entirely inside WordPress Redirect index.php, index.html, and index.htm access Redirection statistics telling you how many times a redirection has occurred, when it last happened, who tried to do it, and where they found your URL Those are some great features there. One thing to Note A plugin with so many features can interfere with some of your other plugins so test accordingly. Hope this helps!

Hi William, It mostly depends on how much volume based on traffic you're generating. If you're just hosting a simple WordPress site with on average a couple of thousand visitors you could use AWS but it's probably not really for you as the setup time will be much higher. Although if you're receiving tens of thousands of visitor everyday then it could be worth it as you can easily scale the number of servers you run. Hope this give some insights.

I like that idea but I'd consider alternatives to Facebook and 302 temporary redirect the article. When the traffic decreases I'd want to remove the redirect so all of those links and shares benefit my own website, and not another website.
