  • Thanks for your comments Nishadha !! I would deifnately do so for different languages but keep seeing and hearing seo/social peeps say that for both seo & social reasons you should set up country specific social paegs such as Twitter and FB So i still welcome peoples opinions as to which ones ?

  • I'm going to answer generally since there's not a lot of info here.  If you can manage to get good relevant links to your page, that's always helpful.  I'm not sure what you have on the domain right now, but if you have some sort of placeholder page with decent design and some kind of teaser or information for what will be there, this can be a very effective way to drum up excitement.  Off the top of my head mailbox (http://www.mailboxapp.com/) had a placeholder page for months, where you can sign up for a waiting list for the app.  It drew a lot of press, a lot of sign ups, and yes, a lot of links to a page that was not much more than a placeholder. On the other hand, if you don't have anything there now and don't plan on doing so, I would stay away from just trying to build spammy or otherwise unrelated links.  It could and probably will hurt you in the long term.

  • Hi Wayne, you case is interesting and, obviously, it would be a little bit easier offering a potential answer if - at least - you could tell us what is the market niche your client is operating. I don't if you are asking the question having in mind ranking for keywords like "xyz in "region"", xyz in "region"", and so on. Personally, I consider that the common product/service description pages should be just one and valid for all regions, than it should be in the conversion funnel, when people already are in a buying/requesting contact step, that you ask them in what region they reside, therefore funneling the customers to their regional funnels. Then, what I would do in order to have the site earning more relevancy on a regional/local base, I'd design a content strategy that look at local problematics related to the products/services your client sells, so to obtain the attention of local influencers, local news site, local bloggers... In this strategy I would not even exclude local offline marketing, paying always attention to have these very geo-targeted campaigns mirrored online in the site and social media profiles.

  • Thanks and assumed that was the case, Chris. Actually, I emailed them from their contact form, then saw a direct email link on that Contact page, so I emailed Tarek as well. He replied by email and also then called our office to apologize for the inconvenience and let us know the link was removed and we have confirmed this. Now, if every other webmaster would respond this quickly and politely, it would make our jobs a LOT less frustrating. Thanks for responding Kevin and Oren! - Patrick

  • Keep mind that the Search Volume displayed, is only for bing! You can use Google ad words tool to get an estimate from Google.

  • Hopefully the situation is already resolved, but having recently had to do this for both clients and my own projects... First, make sure that the email address used for your Youtube account is added as a manager to the G+ page you want to be linked in the future. You then need to go into Youtube settings and click on the option to DIsconnect from Google+. This will remove the link to the unwanted page - it takes about 20 minutes plus for the change to take effect across Google+ and Youtube. You can then go to Advanced under the Name section of the Youtube Settings and click to link your desired Google+ page. I'd recommend checking everything is all working, then finally go back into Google+ with your original Youtube email address and delete the now extraneous and unwanted page.

  • I'm not directly involved in the project, but I think that's actually part of what they're doing - using Google de-indexation and obvious penalties to train the system, but trying to avoid a system that would have to go look up the site on Google every time it needed to make a prediction.

  • This is a great question. Recently Google started hiding the traffic details from everyone, which is why you see "not provided" in the details. Everyone was affected by this, and we are trying to work with them to get this data type back. Rand talks about this in detail here: http://moz.com/blog/100-percent-keyword-not-provided-whiteboard-tuesday and Ruth touches on this as well  here: http://moz.com/blog/what-is-seo-now. I hope this helps shed some light on what you are seeing here. I know this is odd and not extremely valuable information now, but we are always working on improving this process and are very open to suggestions and feedback just like this.

  • Yes, I want to be able to add manually or be able to filter the results into segmented sitemaps based on the URL structure. I am fine with paying for a tool as long as it works Thanks for the replies so far.

  • Totally agree with Moosa's suggestion, even for just one reason: It looks spammy and is associated with spammers, this is one of those things that can make or break website conversion.

  • You're so welcome, Blair. Yep, no shortcuts. This isn't work most people adore doing, but it's so important.

  • I'm with Kate on this one. marketing/digital/research reflects the site structure, is very easy to read, and shouldn't be a problem. Keywords in URLs are no longer a real factor, unless you have an exact match domain name. Go with the URL that's easiest to read, will be easy from a structural point of view (in whatever CMS you're using) and most likely to get clicked.
