Please Please Please help (not ranking any more)..
Hi Jane,I think now I know why my ranking has been affected.yesterday I noticed a message on my Google webmaster tools under "Manual Actions" which says:---------------------------------------------------------------Partial matchesSome manual actions apply to specific pages, sections, or linksReasonUnnatural links to your site-impacts linksGoogle has detected a pattern of unnatural artificial, deceptive, or manipulative links pointing to pages on this site. Some links may be outside of the webmaster’s control, so for this incident we are taking targeted action on the unnatural links instead of on the site’s ranking as a whole. Learn more.----------------------------------------------------------------then there is a button for "Request A Review"1- How do I know when did I received this message (there is no email from Google) ?2- How can I fined out what links they are talking about ?3- Is that the main reason that my ranking is dropping ?Thank youSina

OSE so slow!!!!
Hey Sophia, Thanks for the question. We actually haven't had any other reports of undue slowness in OSE. It's possible you're seeing a lag due to your connection or machine? As far as making it bigger, we're always working to increase the size and frequency of our indices. It's tough to compare it to a company like Majestic or Ahrefs who's entire business is indexing while OSE is just one part of a much more comprehensive suite of tools. I'm sorry to say it may be a while before we have the sheer volume they have. Thanks, Joel.

Twitter T&Cs
I would think no, because you are not actually giving money to them. These kind of promotions are quite popular, I think if they were against Twitter TOS they would have been mentioned by now. (In reality isn't it basically the same as advertising on Twitter?) But also apps like rafflecopter are allowed which is in a sense buying follwers as well.

Change in Google local ranking
Yes, in the great world of marketing we all know that a negative experience gets amplified far more often and to a greater extent than positive ones. I guess we'll take this one as a win and see how the rankings hold. Thanks for your responses!

Alt-text on all my images or only my contextual images?
I wouldn't add ALT tags to all images. Only those that add context to a page - if it's a design element that repeats from page to page it would be incredibly annoying to have it read out by a screen reader over and over again. Example: 'Company X Logo, Company X Logo, Company X Logo, Company X Logo....' How to wind-up the blind very quickly!!! I started my digital career working for an agency that specialised in producing accessible websites for schools, nurseries, public libraries etc. I learned a lot about how screen readers work there and it was a real eye-opener. (if you excuse the pun) XXX A

Subfolders and 301's
Hi the canonical is great but to reinforce it it's also a good idea to have a link on the page pointing towards the original and it gives Google that shove that its the correct one. Good luck with the launch!

Link Juice Inquiry
Hi Brandon, To the best of our knowledge, Google does not "notice" or count URL content after a hash, meaning that the link juice would stop with www.example.com. It is almost certain that the home page is receiving the benefit of these links. Cheers, Jane

Duplicate content on a sub domain
Using alternate hreflang tags may help... https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en I realize that they are both in English but if one is proper English while the other is American English this could be helpful...

Using Javascript to Display Responsive Images?
It would be generally recommended you also include a <noscript><img src=""></noscript> section for crawlers and other visitors without JavaScript turned on. I would have at least hoped your solution would use the element rather than a completely non-standard approach to display images. Not sure what library, provider or script you are using but maybe check out a responsive image service like Pixtulate who would actually allow you to use a standard img tag and still accomplish what you are looking to do.

Disavow questions
Great questions. I'll give my 2 cents based on what we've witnessed at Penalty Pros: 1 - Yes, this will do the trick. Just make sure that you are referencing the non-www version in the disavow. For example "domain:site.com" and NOT "domain:www.site.com". If you want to be super safe, just include the exact subdomains as separate line items. 2 - Google's official word is that you don't need to worry about nofollows, but we've encountered a few situations where nofollow links were pointed out as problematic in failed recon requests. This may be human error on the part of the manual team, but it's probably worth it just disavowing regardless. Hope this helps and good luck!

Does Having A High PPC Bounce Rate Affect Organic SERPs?
Thanks for your great answer David. Just to make sure I've understood this right... In your opinion would a high volume of people pogo sticking back to the SERPs after clicking on a paid ad adversely affect the organic search performance of the rest of the site? Or do Google discount this high bounce rate for paid ads?
