What to do with high-traffic pages that are not related to e-commerce?
Hi there Great to see a content marketing strategy generating "extra" traffic. In order to pass on an SEO benefit, you may want internally link from within the body of the article to your core landing pages. That may pass on "the strength" of that page, as it were. With internal links, you can link to your landing pages with your target keywords a bit more often that you normally would when link building from external sites, but don't overdo it. (I'd say 20-25% of links with your keyword in the anchor text would be OK for internal links - please don't do that for external links!). Of course, the main objective I see would be to capture that traffic that comes in on those blog/resource pages and get it to convert. Have you looked at running an email widget next to the blog? Perhaps you can use an exit popup, popup, popunder or interstitial ad as well. These methods are more aggressive and "in your face", but contrary to what you may think they really do convert. Hope this helps.

How many words for product description
The description should be long enough to convey the features of the products, the benefits of it to the customer, and any other important info. If it's 50 words, it's 50. If it's 500, it's 500. Writing to hit a number means you're going to include a lot of fluff. Since you asked this question, it sounds like you're not a copywriter. Pay one to write your product descriptions. It will totally be worth it.

Advice on whether we 301 redirect a page or update existing page?
Without seeing the pages, url structure and how similar/different the products are its a bit hard to advise. However in general if you already have a page ranking, and it is possible to overcome the confusion issues (which can probably be done through design?) I would probably leave the page there, and tweak the content to include your 'blue widget' (but remember part of the reason you are ranking for the term 'red widget' is due to the content on your page so it will still need to be optimised for this. I've done 301 redirects a few times and when done internally they usually don't cause any long-term drops, however they may cause short-term (which can last a while) your page to disappear while Google re-ranks the new page (and the exact ranking will depending on the new page URL structure, content, page hierarchy etc). Hope that helps and makes sense

Duplicate content. Wordpress and Website
I was just hired at this company about 4 months ago and for years they have been running the blog through wordpress and had about 40k visitors last year. I decided that running the blog on the website would be a great boost for SEO and lead to better conversions. The site was made from a shopify template and the social media manager hates the layout and stats he obtains. He decided that he would rather go back to wordpress and wants to convert all the posts that he created in shopify to wordpress. I was not sure if about 20 posts would penalize us on google or not? Also, if we could post to both I would still get the benefits from the blog being on the site and he would get the benefits from having it on wordpress. Thanks for your help,

Is 36 Hours Billed By My Developer for Installing Google GTM Excessive?
This! Excluding external factors, such as hosting problems or plugin interaction issues and assuming you are just adding it to every single page you technically should install GTM on a wordpress site in about 5 minutes. This is obviously excluding configuration as well. To take 36 hours it would have to have had some massive issues and I feel like if it's taking that long he should have brought it up beforehand instead of just billing for 36 hours after the fact.

Subcategories within "New Arrivals" section - duplicate content?
I would just set the rel=canonical to the main categories. It would reduce duplicate content, send more strength to the main categories and as you said, people would probably prefer to see the full product list as opposed to just new arrivals on your site (so you don't need that to appear in search).

No problem Trust me, you will love seo-browser. It makes it sooooo easy to see what is really going on behind the scenes. Hidden H1 tags, hidden content, h3 header tags in sidebars above first H1, all that good stuff. Enjoy

Wikipedia and Domain Authority?
I was actually recently asked about a Wikipedia page for our company as well. We currently have a fairly strong brand but our domain authority is only 32/100 and we only have links coming in from 73 different domains(822 total links). Should we hold off on a Wikipedia page for the reasons outlined above? Also, I should add that somebody did try to create one recently but it was deleted by Wikipedia.

GWT returning 200 for robots.txt, but it's actually returning a 404?
If it were me I would use something like web-sniffer.net to try to simulate google bot and see what that does. I would also verify that the file is on the server by looking in the ftp for it. If it is, then I would look in the htaccess file and see if there is anything set regarding it. Someone might have it set up to only let bots view the file, which in itself is not really a bad idea.

Too many onpage links?
As per SEOMOZ 100 links are perfect from one page but most of the big e-commerce brand using more than 100 links in one page and coming in SERP's with good ranking so i think may be it's SEOMOZ personal view. Thanks, Akhilesh

Spike in server errors
1. Have you submitted the new pages via a sitemap/fetch as Google? Could be they are still trying to crawl all the old pages. 2. Have you manually checked some of the pages to see if the redirect is working? If they are, could be you have an error in your reporting through GWT (it's not perfect, and will often give warnings about old pages, even those you 301) Once you submit the pages, and have verified your pages are redirecting properly let it run it's course. Be sure to double check in analytics that you are not losing traffic due to any non-functioning redirects.
