  • Hi Ira, That's correct that we would expect to see the data we push to our 7 supported partners then be pushed out to their own partners (see Local Search Ecosystem for US: http://moz.com/learn/local/local-search-data-us) but this is not something we monitor or guarantee. We monitor and guarantee pushing your data to the 7 partners, but do not track what happens beyond that point. Also, when you create a Moz Local account we do provide some additional info about listings on several non-partner platforms, like Google, Bing, Facebook, Yahoo, Hotfrog, YP and Yelp. If our tool is pointing out that a business doesn't yet have a listing on one of these platforms, or that a listing could be improved by cleaning up NAP inconsistencies or adding additional details like photos or categories, we are specifically recommending that you take manual action to improve your overall listing score. Hope this helps!

  • A different thought here. Since you are doing printing as the service, would some things (especially business cards) be able to give a good clue as to industry without having to ask people?

  • Hey, Welcome to Moz pro. If you click on "About your data" which is on the right hand side just above domain authority, it will give you all the info on how often each section is updated. Not all elements update at the same time. Some are daily whereas others are weekly. I would wait for a few days and if you still haven't received anything then get in touch with a member of the Moz help team. I'm sure you'll see some updated data in a couple of days. Another potential reason could be because Moz just updated the user interface for the campaign data (about a week or two ago). They may be having some intermittent problems with data presentation or collection. Hope this helps.

  • I have not seen any guidelines laid out. It is important to note that <aside>tag is a HTML 5 element and as such highly likely every crawler will handle it differently. The purpose to the best of my understanding is to tell the crawlers this content is not exactly what my page is about, allowing for places on the site the owner can advertise or cross link similar but necessarily different content. Which if I understand it correctly gives every crawler / bot  the perfect way to weight the <aside>tag differently in their algorithms. Maybe Dr. Pete will run a test on Moz for us. Here is a good little read on the aside tag: http://www.html-5-tutorial.com/aside-element.htm </aside> </aside>

  • Hello Chris, Thank you for replying to my question. It is a difficult one, I think as a company we will have to go with a safer long term strategy and see how it pans out. Maybe a PR stunt, instead of exact match backlinks. Kind regards Rob

  • An interesting article on moz relating to your question here: The First Link Counts Rule and the Hash Sign - Does it Change PR Sculpting? I'm sure wayback I had an issue with apple devices not being happy with the # not having a slash. index.html#saving-water didn't work but this index.html/#saving-water did. You might want to check it out or I may have just dreamt it!

  • You can use the hashtags and query strings to display the content, just be sure to specify the URL parameters in Webmaster tools so you dont have multiple URLs getting indexed.

  • So my question is, will hosting our site in Australia on a .au domain rank it higher than relying just on subfolders? If it was me, I would. By having that extension you are stating clearly what your intended target area is. Additionally, this could save you money if you do run local country ads, due to the ads being of higher quality and relevance. Just be very careful that you do not have duplicate content index-able across multiple sites. Make it unique for each area and country

  • Hello, If you can provide me with the domain name I can probably best advise you. Once you get a spam action it is nearly impossible to remove all the bad links and can in many cases be easier to start with a new domain name. If you use Majestic SEO, download all your backlinks, then use excel to divide the trust flow by citation flow of each link to find the spam factor of each link. If the link has a value of below 0.3 it is on the spammy side and if you have hundreds or thousands of these then it is probably cheaper and faster to start with a new domain name. Kind regards Rob

  • Hi, Since an iframe is just a window into your site, it cannot harm your site and it doesn’t put you in a spammy neighbourhood as all of the links to your page are from within your own site. It will be registering views and visits on your analytics too, so you’re still getting some extra traffic. If you feel this Iranian traffic is unwanted, not converting or are simply just annoyed that this site is using your content as their own, you can actually block iframe calls quite easily. There are a couple of things you could do: .htaccess Simply add this line to enable iframe calls from your own domain, but block them from external sites: Header always append X-Frame-Options SAMEORIGIN Or disable iframe calls entirely with: Header set X-Frame-Options DENY These directives will only work if you have enabled mod_headers in apache. Another way to deal with it would be to use a javascript redirect when the top url does not match the page URL like this: if(top != self) { top.location = self.location; } Hope this helps, Tom

  • Hi Jarno, This happened some time ago and I actually exited the business. In hindsight, what you commented on was exactly correct. At the launch of the business, I had 0 brand queries. A year later, I had over 2000 monthly brand queries. What happened was that the press covered us in print, but we also became a 'resource' for the reporters. Every time they had a question or were writing an article for something related, for example seasonal trends in classes, or newly popular classes, they reached out to us and would often quote us in their articles. Interestingly as well, offline articles in the newspapers eventually made their way online and when i found these articles indexed as well, I reached out to my new-found contacts there and they were glad to link the company's name over to the site.

  • Dear Gerry, How much of a difference it makes i'm not actually sure about but what I do know: Some of my projects were started on a country domain (.nl). They ranked well, got some nice traffic etc. But on those terms where the competition was fierce it could not beet the competition. Then we build 2 of those projects on .com domain names (which actually is for the USA) and we started to see differences in rankings for the more fierce terms. So domain extentions do matter. If i were you and I couldn't get the exact domain you wanted maybe you could get a different version of that domain name (eg. with -'s in the url or with an extra word in it perhaps?) Hope this helps Regards Jarno

  • There are a lot of factors to this. It falls into the famous "it depends" seo answer 1. Do you want the email address to appear more professional? If not, then just get a gmail address that is easier to manage and troubleshoot that a server controlled email. I'm sure you could find something like BikramSCV@gmail.com available. 2. Do people (and Google) associate the abbreviation "SCV" with the local area? Doing a few searches in Google should let you know this very quickly. If so, then use the shorter domain. If not, then the longer domain since it includes the "yoga" and "santa clarita" keywords. You could at this point use the other domain for email, if the professional appearance is important to you. I did a few searches in Google for you, and it appears that they do not put the two together, and it shows different results for each phrase. BUT, that does not mean that users don't associate them together. Try and think of how your site will be searched for, and make your domain choice accordingly. You could also spend a few moments looking up other domains, just to see what is catchy, and available.
