  • Unfortunately, this issue has been up for debate over the past few years and there's no clear-cut answer. You might like to take a look at this staff-endorsed answer from 2012, which indicated that Google will look at how much unique content is above the fold. If your content is buried deep in the source code and duplicate copy comes first, then this _could _be an issue. If you can place your unique content higher up within the source code, then this wouldn't be a bad thing, but I have suspicion that chances are there's always more pressing things to optimise. Sorry there's no '100% yes!' on this, but IMO this has always been one of the vaguest areas of SEO; especially as we know G has become more adept at crawling in the past few years (javascript support, etc).

  • Something to avoid, is the mindset of buying links / sponsoring. Google values a genuine link that is editorially gained, rather than a side note / footer / site-wide links. These carry very little value and in some cases, can create a big headache for you in terms of penalties from Google. Good SEO is actually a mix of a great user experience, easy-to-use website, interesting information and closely following Google's webmaster guidelines. This all boils down to best practice. Keep your visitors happy, social media buzzing, content well written and Google will start to value your site more. -Andy

  • Building a website with a list of high quality website to build your backlinks. example, you are a technology agency and you don't know where to build your backlinks for a backlinks strategy. You would go to the site search for technology category and you will get a list of all of quality  backlinks blog website that you can build do-follow backlinks in the technology field. I dont want to build a spammy directory that everybody would put their links. But how can I show to Google that this web sites with a lot of backlinks is not spammy. I tought that if i put content aroud of each backlinks it would be a solution

  • Hi RosemaryB, AFAIK, no - you cannot implement a 301 redirect from an old FB/Twitter profile to your new one. The business should minimize the old profile (remove any unnecessary content) and put up a description/text about the new company's handle/page/twitter. You could also send out an email blast with the updated profile and make sure to check the old accounts for any straggler users that find the old profile and need to be redirected to the new profile.

  • Uhmn. Yes and no. 302 suggests it will be back. but actually it will be never back.  So a 302 would keep the link juice where it is which is fine. because you do not want to have all that juice to the invaluable login page right. but noindex following is the way to go.

  • I think the script for Universal Analytics (new new version of GA) is built with subdomain tracking built in.  According to this Google article about cross domain tracking, "This document is only for tracking users across domains where browser restrictions prevent cookies from being shared. Tracking users across subdomains does not require any additional configuration." I'd try the regular script, and see if you can see traffic on both URLs for all of your subdomains.  If you can, then it's working!

  • Wouldn't there be cases where a trailing message could actually entice the viewer to click though? I know I've clicked on SERP titles before for that reason.
