How to authenticate Moz crawler so that others don't use Rogerbot useragent to scrape data from our site?
Hi There, Thanks for writing us so there seems to be a few things going on here so if you need any additional clarification please let me know. So Moz will use a dynamic IP, so there is not just one IP we can provide for authentication. Unfortunately, your best course of action in this case would be to authorize Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; rogerBot/1.0) This would need to be conducted on the hosting level so you would need to work with your current hosting provider for a viable solutions. Also, you could set up your robots.txt file to disallow all robots except for Google and Rogerbot, unfortunately malicious robots will often ignore robots.txt files, so any long term solutions would need to go through your hosting provider. I am sorry that we could not provide more assistance on this matter and hopefully the attacks on your site do not last. Have a great day!

Does a text URL (without hyperlink) provide any SEO value?
If we understand that a major portion of SEO is link building, I would say that url text (only) is not a link and does not offer any direct SEO value. If the url is to good content that you're trying to amplify, someone else could see it and re-post it in other places which would (in some cases) provide SEO value. Just my two cents...

Link building strategies for boring businesses!
My two approaches would be: 1. figure out a passionate group related to your product that you could include in your content. For example I work for a lumber company but some of our post featuring custom stairs and custom guitars using our wood have been very popular they are not our products but do relate and can get traffic. 2. I would look at just simple common questions or comparisons that customers would look at and provide detailed explanations of those. They may be boring but if someone is looking for info then they are gold.

What will happen if all our website content has the date created amended to the migration date?
In my experience, the date created referred to the page itself as opposed to the entire site. I have migrated about 20 sites and this has not created an issue at all. As long as your domain doesn't change you should be ok. Part of the domain age is when it was first registered, how long it is registered for and whether or not it is an active site. New pages get added to sites all the time. The "date created" is another tag for Google to be able to use to know that there has been an update and there is new content to crawl.

Is ListofDomains.org a bad linking site?
Pretty sure google knows of domains like that already. If your link profile is already solid, then that's irrelevant. You should spend your time on other more important things. If you just want to do it now, then disavow it. It won't really change anything since you have a solid link profile already.

A good content calendar/organizer suggestion?
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Asana yet. I've found this tool invaluable when it comes to managing multiple teams (content, development, outreach, etc.) True, it functions very similar to Trello, but I think the format is a bit more intuitive. It always seemed that my Trello calendar was always looking so cluttered... though that could be operator error

Is having copy above the fold still beneficial for SEO
This article on Google's content quality scoring definitely recommends having your content "immediately visible" and "above the fold." There was a page layout algorithm in 2012 that the article claims "lowered rankings" for sites that lack content above the fold.

URLS appearing twice in Moz crawl
Hey Jon! There are only two ways for these URLs to be picked. Relative links in the source code or malformed sitemaps if the <loc>tags are not on the same line as the URL</loc> Incorrect: <loc>www.domain.com</loc> correct: <loc>www.domain.com</loc> If the linking page or referral URL is the sitemap, look in the source for the tags. If they are from another linking page, look for hyperlinks missing http:// the relative link would be Hope this helps!

How to take out international URL from google US index/hreflang help
Hi Sheena, sorry I didn't respond sooner, I wasn't receiving any notifications. Thank you very much for your answer though, this was extremely helpful and helped verify that what I was thinking was correct, with some added help from you. I didn't think taking away the 301 was the best approach, but from a bosses standpoint he sees it as them getting clicks that shouldn't be theirs, I just have to do my best job of explaining why it's better for long term. The hreflang is in place and I think the best approach would be to consolidate international domains to the .com ccTLD's Thanks again, very helpful. -Reed

Google Is Indexing My Internal Search Results - What should i do?
A couple of things come to mind: Why don't you want the product pages to be in the index? Why is there concern of a penalty? As to your question: Are you signed into Google when you are searching? Google will show you these types of results in the SERP's, but they are not necessarily shown to customers. If you have Google desktop installed it will also show you documents on your machine in SERPs if they find them relevant to what you are looking for. * Do the URL's have parameters? If so you can set those in GWT and inform Google what they should do when they encounter them as they crawl the site. *Canonical the pages you don't want in the index if possible to the static pages.

Are .clinic domains effective?
(This is all speculation as I've never done this before. There are probably people in the forum that have) Be aware you're switching from a ccTLD to a gTLD. Is the clinic primarily for Canadian residents? In the simplest terms, switching from a .ca to a .clinic may hurt your Canadian rankings, and help your rankings everywhere else. If you want your site to continue targeting Canadians specifically, you can set that in your Google Webmaster Tools, although I think having the .ca domain itself is a stronger indicator to Google that your site is geared towards Canadians.
