How do you create a content "stream"?
For Twitter, we do have a partnership between Followerwonk and Buffer (more info at http://moz.com/blog/followerwonk-partners-with-buffer). Other than that, no, we don't at this time.

Does the inbound links report include links to all pages of the domain being researched?
Hi In Open Site Explorer, there are various filters for the Inbound Links report. By default it shows "all" links from "all" pages to "this page" (i.e. the page at the URL entered). But you can change the filters to show links that are from "external" or "internal" pages to "pages on this sub-domain" (e.g. www.) or "pages on this root domain". Yes, different tools will show different results especially for external inbound links due to the nature of how much of the web they crawl. In those cases, I would always look at the highest figure on the basis that the crawler that reported was able to crawl more pages and find more inbound links. I hope that helps, Peter

Any idea why ose is so slow in generating reports?
It's not a regular problem. In this case, it's best to cancel and restart your exports, though it still may take 24 hours due to the backlog. Ugh...gotta love Mondays.

External Followed Links report
Hi Niall, Thanks for reaching out! I think I have an answer for you! OSE only displays 25 links for each root domain. So if you you have 2,951 links but 300 of them are from one domain, it will only show 25 of them. That should help explain the discrepancy you're seeing. I hope this helps! If you have any more specific questions about a particular campaign, please don't hesitate to email help@moz.com! Cheers, Erin

OSE Appears To Be Running Very Slow
Hey David and Denis! I've got the same issue. My "Advanced Inbound Links" report is in the processing status for the month or so. I've resubmitted my request for 5 or 6 times, but the report never finishes. Actually it stuck on this: "Getting data from the LSAPI. 158 out of 100k results found". Would much appreciate your help! Thank you.

Domain Authority Trending Down?

What does "Number of Domains Linking to this Page" mean?
Hey Katrine, Thanks for writing in and sorry for the confusion. The "Number of Domains Linking to this Page" and "Number of Domains Linking to Domain" in the CSV you downloaded actually refer to the URL that is linking back to your site. This information is provided so you can have some insight into the quality of links that are referring back to the page you are researching. I hope this clears things up. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Chiaryn

Open Site Explorer
As Frederico says, Open Site Explorer uses the Mozscape link index which only crawls a portion of the internet. On the front page of Open Site Explorer you'll see some stats about the index: 106 Billion URLs, 150 Million Root domains, 764 Billion Links. While this sounds like a lot - it's nowhere near every link and every domain on the internet! I believe Raven uses MajecticSEO's link index which may (or may not) index the sites that link to your site hence the disparity between the two.

MOZ Tool Bar Query

Is there an option that's more precise over Open Site Explorer?
Hey Jonathan, Thanks for the question. You'll want to keep in mind that OSE doesn't know what your official Facebook or Google+ pages are. So when OSE reports those numbers it's URL specific. For example: Moz has 135,040 likes on our Facebook page, but in OSE it only sees 2,162 because that's how many people liked the url moz.com as opposed to our FB page. I hope that makes sense. You can try adding your social networks to a campaign to get more in depth social metrics. Cheers, Joel.

Is there an efficient way to use Open Site Explorer to find unnatural or harmful links
I'm honestly not sure if there's a great way to use that process to drill back into the links to see which ones are low quality - it was intended more as a big picture look at your entire profile. We're actively working on more spam detection metrics, but it's a tricky business and we're really concerned about potentially giving people false alarms, especially with so many people hacking at their links. I know some folks use OSE to export links and pull out specific bits of data, like very low PA pages, pages with exact-match anchor text on keyword-heavy phrases (non-brand), etc., but even then you've got to be a bit careful. A low PA page isn't necessarily "bad", just relatively weak, from a link perspective. One spam marker we've found pretty relevant is sites with a disproportionately low MozTrust to their MozRank (or to their DA). Sites with high authority but low trust may have spammy link profiles in general. These are the kinds of factors that 3rd-party link evaluation tools look at. Some of them are a good starting point, but you still need to fact-check. I'd definitely start with some kind of domain-based analysis. Your 40K links might be coming from 4K domains, or even 400. Getting a broad sense of linking-domain quality will be an easier starting point.

Open Explorer reports bug?
Hi Chiaryn, Thank you so much for sorting out the problem with the reports. It looks like the reports are now populated, so I think you must have fixed whatever the problem was. All the best, Amelia PS Happy Halloween!

I've been kicked out of OSE about 6 times today
Hi all! We discovered a secondary issue with the SSO tokens earlier today. The two symptoms associated with it is either being stuck in a redirect loop or being logged out when switching between Moz and OSE. A preliminary fix has been deployed that should cover most of the effected customers. Our Developers are working on a follow-up that should fix it for everyone else. There's no ETA on that as of now, but they're all-hands on it so it shouldn't be too much longer. Sorry about this! Best, Sam Moz Helpster

Hi Lorenzo I sent an email to you this morning from our existing thread. Are you able to see it in your inbox or spam folder?

OSE Stats - Number of Unique C IP's and PA/DA keep going up and down. Why?
OSE crawls a different number of domains/pages with each update. It is normal to see fluctuations in all of these metrics for for links to appear/disappear in OSE reports. OSE and Linkscape data is an extremely valuable for gauging site/page strength, as well as a healthy amount of backlinks to a given page. I do not think it is a great tool to use for benchmarking your site authority or backlink profile growth, due to the inconsistencies between their indexes (or is it indices). If you are tracking competitors with it, you will likely see similar fluctuations in there data as well.

Root Domain and Subdomain Links OpenSite Explorer
Thanks everyone. Helped clear my head a bit on how to use the tool. The reason I was concerned was that the 4,000+ links were coming from 9 domains. Tracked it down to one, another site they own.... Just had to leave the project for a day and come back to it to think more clearly on how to find which site all the links were coming from and then how to show them all the links (and why it might not be a good idea to do that).

Open Site Explorer results are not satisfactory.. is there any issue with it?
Hey, Some great answers already. I just wanted to chime in real quick. When you are trying to compare metrics between companies, make sure that you're comparing the same metrics. Often times people will look at the page specific metrics in OSE and then compare them to the root domain metrics in other services. This is inaccurate and isn't doing you any good. The url in question has 2532 total links in OSE. I checked in in Majestic -who has a larger index because that's their primary function- and found that it had 3652 total links. So Majestic does have more because that's what they do. If you aren't satisfied with the links in OSE, I would recommend combining our tools with a dedicated back link service since we will unfortunately miss links and/or leave low quality pages out of our indices. Thanks! Joel.
