  • Hi all, Following up from Brad's post, just a note that the index was updated on March 11th - next update scheduled for April 8th. Cheers all, Jane

  • (As far as I know) You cannot add a column or field for domain name in the advanced reports (for inbound link reports). you will have to use the linking domain reports or use excel to extract (manipulate) the data you are looking for. There is another solution though. If you are a pro member, you can use the Moz API to pull exact fields you are looking for (http://apiwiki.moz.com/url-metrics). You can pull the url of the link (uu) and the root domain of the link (upl) as well as well as any other parameter from the Mozscape. If you are a pro member (have an API key) and have some Excel knowledge, I would check out the SEOgadget for Excel tool which uses your Moz API (and other backlink tool APIs) to pull data into excel for you to use. And it's free! Hope this helps!

  • Hey James, Thanks for the question. It sounds like you're seeing the 25 links per root domain limit that's placed on all reports from OSE. While your total links count is 3115 that includes a large number of internal links and you have several domains that contain more than 25 links to your site. We will cap the export at 25 links per linking root domain. I hope the makes sense. Cheers, Joel.

  • Hi Steffany, thanks for your reply, indeed I didn't know the competitive link metrics in my campaign yet. The thing is, that my campaign is very new (same as my website). So I don't have historical link data. But is there a way I can see (on a time graph) when my competitors have started to build links? This would help me to see their pace and effort in a visual way. Best, Robin

  • Hi there, Creating a new website to replace the old one you have to make sure that the old website (old page's) isn't accessible by crawlers. So a quick solution would be to add a robots.txt to your domain and disallow the url's of the pages you don't want to be crawled. Here is a cheat sheet from MOZ on how disallow works and how to implement it.

  • Moz doesn't have this, but there are a number of tools you can use for this purpose. Xenu Link Sleuth and Screaming Frog both will help you in this process.

  • Hi Todd, Thanks for writing in to Q&A! I know all of this can feel confusing sometimes, but don't worry! We're all in this together, and we're here to help!!!! There could be a few things going on here. For starters, if your inbound links are "no follow," then we won't follow them. That could cause a problem. It could also be that we don't have your inbound links in our index. One way to test this is to find a URL that you know is linking to you, and put it in OSE. If it doesn't show up there, it definitely means it's not in our index. If you ever need more help, you can always reach out to us as help@moz.com! Have a great rest of your week! Cheers! Erin

  • Hey 720, Links in Just Discovered Links are completely separate from Links in Mozscape/OSE. JDL "indexes URLs within about one hour of being shared on Twitter—as well as the URLs linked from those tweeted pages." As I understand it, JDL URLs are displayed in the report without regard to their value or the value (DA,PA) of the pages the links reside on.  On the other hand, URLs in OSE are not indiscriminate.  The links in OSE are the result of crawls that attempt to reach only URLs of a predefined depth/quality. I'm not sure if this is the case for your situation but (again, as I understand it), if the links that show up in JDL are found on low quality pages, it is possible that they will never show up in OSE. 30 days is the length of time a just discovered link remains visible on JDL.

  • Hi There It appears there are more than 100K results so the report is timing out. You will likely be able to filter the results by domain authority to get under 100K. Start with 40-100, then 50-100, etc to see if it will help!

  • Hi Mark, Yours is a really interesting point. Have a look at this post, from Ana Kravitz, which I suggest you to read, I believe you will find some of the answers you are searching for. http://www.akravitz.com/tag-track-social-media-traffic-for-google-analytics/#comment-106132 Cheers from an almost sunny day in southern Spain.

  • I guess I am unsure of what you are looking for then. ahrefs does separate them out in terms of showing a percentage and being able to look at the sitewides versus non, but there is no way to exclude them overall when you have used the disavow tool, etc. When you have someone nefariously linking to a site with 20000 links from a single site, it muddies the water to have them all there. Even though they show what is or is not sitewide, it would be nice if you could see the reports totally excluding them. Best of luck

  • Hi Sam, That's great to know. IMO the ability to get these 'just discovered' links into the main index is a significant advantage to Moz over other tools. Given a just discovered link must first be tweeted, these links are (generally) more important than non tweeted links, and therefore of more importance to the overall link profile. Cheers

  • Hi, this problem was resolved - thank you. I received and email today to check if it had been. I unsubscribed from Moz because the tool I thought would solve my problem was not the right one and in the end one of your community pointed me in the right direction (an Spider software) to identify all the links in the website I am editing. Cheers Hugh

  • As Wiqas mentioned, we can't give that information because Google isn't passing it along to anyone at all. We can give you what Bing and Yahoo send along, but Google is not providing that information anymore.

  • Tools like Xenu Link Sleuth and Screaming Frog are also good for looking at your outgoing links, checking their status codes, etc.

  • Hey Gordon, Thanks for following up. Unfortunately, it looks like the index from January 17th and the one that was just updated yesterday, the 30th, are both still being affected by the 2 point drop in DA. Our engineers are still working on a fix for this, but you wouldn't see the changed until at least three weeks after the fix is deployed to the index because it will take three weeks to collect and process new data with the fix in place for a new index. I'm afraid we don't have an eta right now for when this will be fixed. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience this causes. Chiaryn

  • Hopefully this will help: Login to GA and click Acquisition --> All Referrers This report will show all websites that sent traffic to you in the time period you have set in Analytics. Click the Ecommerce or Goals tab at the top of the list and it should give you conversion data for your referrers. Just let us know if we've misunderstood what you're looking to achieve.

  • Hi I was curious about this too. And then I found this https://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/20770156-Open-Site-Explorer-to-crawl-HTTPS Looks like it was in development but had some issues. Hopefully it'll be available soon.

  • Hey Everyone, Starting yesterday afternoon, we had a an outage that caused the reports permissions to fail. The issue is now corrected and you should be able to run new reports with no issue, but we are still working to regenerate the reports that were requested during the outage with the proper permissions. In the meantime, you can re-create reports that you are unable to download if you are unable to wait for a final resolution for the original reports. I apologize for the inconvenience this causes. Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Chiaryn
