  • Hi there, We now show Google Places via Universal placement, however since our tool tries to provide unbiased SERP results, we do separate out the local listings since we don't treat them as "Organic" results.  Our product team is working to introduce filters that will hopefully allow you to put more "weight" into those local results in our future iterations of the tool, however in the meantime we still record them, check this out for more information: http://www.seomoz.org/help/rankings Best, Peter SEOmoz Help Team.

  • I'm assuming you mean the SEOMoz on page report card? This issue usually seems to be related to not using a valid URL or being some sort of cookie issue (pushing the button twice) and clears itself up. http://www.seomoz.org/q/why-am-i-getting-an-access-error-when-creating-my-first-campaign http://www.seomoz.org/q/onpage-report-check https://twitter.com/fkaasgaard/status/258555937231630336 So make sure you're using a valid URL - if you know you are, clear the cache & cookies, reboot the browser and relogin to Moz. Should clear itself.

  • agree with george, I'm seeing in your blog all urls having appended the - codebaby text in the title. Check in your wp configuration of titles, maybe you've installed a plugin which is overriding your initial titles and appending that.

  • http and https is immaterial  from a campaign point of view. The s only means the session is encrypted, not that the content's different. Rogerbot's purpose is to mimic Googlebot,  Bingbot etc.  It will have the same access as the other public bots. The only time it  will have an issue is if it gets 804 - HTTPS (SSL) errors due to improper set up. But, you'll know about that well before the campaign gets started. Now, you could be doing some server side tricks to make the content different once the session is secure.  In that case, link and/or do a redirect to the secure URL and the bots will follow.

  • Hey Brian, Thanks for the question. I first want to show you our API developer forum which is your best resource for API support right now. https://seomoz.zendesk.com/forums/293196-Developer-Discussion-Group Second, to answer your question, you'll need to make sure you are including both a scope AND a sort in your domain_to_domain calls. It should be formatted more like this: http://lsapi.seomoz.com/linkscape/links/www.jbwebanalytics.com?AccessID=member-XXXXX&Expires=XXXXX&Signature=XXXXX&Scope=domain_to_domain&Sort=domain_authority&Limit=400 I hope that helps. I'll see you in the API forum. Cheers, Joel.

  • Hey Donal, Thanks for the question! That message can sometimes come up if there's just a slow response on the initial site validation ping. It can sometimes be indicative of a greater issue, but if you confirm the site is responding to requests and you aren't blocking anything you shouldn't be, then I would just hit continue and it should crawl just fine. I hope that helps. Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers, Joel.

  • This may be an obvious question, but I just need to clarify for myself; do the pages at brand-state.com and company-name-brand.com have the exact same content/design? If the answer is no, it's possible that keywords are on alt tags on one page and not on another. If the answer is yes, you got me without having a look at it myself.  Have you compared the rendered source code?

  • Hi, I have seen the same thing in a number of Magento shops I track, but while Magento can be a bit of a pain (those url variables oh man!) I think this is most likely due to thin product content and how the SEOmoz report decides on what is duplicate content. The modal window content is repeated across all or most pages as you say, and since that content is the vast majority of the page's content, then the report is saying these pages look all the same. The product details are very small texts in comparison to all the generic shipping etc content you have in each page. I see in my reports the duplicate page report numbers bouncing around all the time as the report decides one week that these 5 pages look the same and the next week a different 5 pages look the same! I don't know the specifics of how exactly the report decides which pages to flag as duplicate or why it bounces around, but I think the main issue is that if the report is seeing the content as duplicate, then there is a good chance the search engines might as well. It is at least an indication that something is amiss. How to fix it? Well I would suggest 2 things: 1. Add more product details to pad out the product specific texts on product pages and 2. Move the modal content window data into separate pages and then either link to them from the footer as you do now, but leading to their own page or else load the separate page data into the window using ajax or similar. Both solutions require a bit of work, I would think the second would have the most immediate benefit in terms of the SEOmoz reports. Hope that makes sense!

  • If I may make a suggestion stars verse gurus, or we all know SEOMoz has a weakness for unicorns http://www.seomoz.org/help And now that we know unicorns are real Beyond any shadow of a doubt because of the North Korean media http://www.today.com/video/today/50054562#50054562 I would propose having unicorns over stars or just how many unicorn horns equal guru or Unicorn master What do you guys say unicorn master with maybe a photo like the thing shown in this URL. • Hi there, This is Peter over at SEOmoz - thanks for writing in and sorry for the confusion there! It looks like the number that you're looking at in the Web App Competitive Domain Analysis tab is the total amount of links to the entire subdomain, but the number you're looking at in Open Site Explorer is the total amount of links to that page only. Sorry about the ambiguity there! The numbers at the top of OSE all pertain solely to that URL rather than to the whole subdomain or root domain, but you can get information about the whole subdomain or root domain by going here (as an example): http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/www.seomoz.org/a!metrics. Here's a screenshot of the numbers: http://markup.io/v/djd8djeptg5n. You can also look at all the links going to the sub/root domain by changing the filters in the "Linking Pages" tab.
