  • However, I will ask you just to clarify - which meta description is getting picked up? The one further down the page? If that's the one getting indexed, then it's something else probably... shoot me an email at help@seomoz.org and I can dig into it further to see if it's a bug on our side. Thanks!

  • Here's what it says: Last Crawl Completed: 2011-03-30 12:17:51 -0700 New Crawl Starts: 04/04/2011 Unfortunately, the errors that it mentioned were fixed several days before the crawl started.  If it happens after the next crawl, I'll be worried.  So, I'll just wait until then.

  • After researching a little more. I have found that there is duplicate content.  there is some informational content that is controlled by a third party site.  It is good useful information, but i have found it in multiple place when searching the content. how much does this type of information hurt our site ranking?  If it didn't exist on our site, would that make any difference?

  • Well, To anyone that might be interested, the 'Real' Google UK search, updated about a week later to match the results I was getting on the Blackberry Google app. Guess that means I should keep an eye on the app results, as they give me a heads up as to whats going to hit the 'Real' web results. Really surprised though, that I didn't get more response, or support from the 'guys in the know' on here, unless this is a new revelation and nobody has come across it before - In which case, I claim it and it is now called 'Limegreen's Law'. I thank you (now speaking like a man who knows his stuff - however put on it is). Limegreen. Founder of Limegreen's Law

  • Your reality will almost certainly be different to another persons. I tend to use a number of ranking checkers (every so often) just to compare results. As long as your avg. position is staying in the area you want it to be then I wouldn't worry too much. DD

  • Nick, Thanks for checking. I had redirected in google Webmaster to non "www" homepage. Ironically, my rankings have actually gone down since I started using SEOMoz. Maybe I am just paying attention now. Thank you again, Eric

  • Thanks Rand. Appreciate the reply. It's not a dealbreaker, as such, more of an inconvenience. Currently trialling the pro version. I must say the web app is otherwise a very impressive product. I've tried various combos of online and software tools before, nothing as comprehensive or as intuitive as this. Now I just need to convince my boss it's worth the monthly investment Cheers, Nick www.vendhq.com

  • I hear you - it's a frustration, but in a system that needs to crawl 30K+ sites each week without hitting anyone's server too hard, being a bother to a SysAdmin and keeping up with a massively complex, ever-changing queue, it's the reality. That said, we do have a custom crawl tool you can fire anytime and usually get data back within just a few hours! It's here - http://www.seomoz.org/labs/cc The intent/value behind the crawl inside the campaign is much less about a specific, one-time crawl, and more about having data every week, with historical information showing progress, updates and warnings (in case something goes wrong). There's lots of good free tools as well for single-purpose crawls, e.g. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/xenu-link-sleuth-more-than-just-a-broken-links-finder Also, just to be totally clear - the system running the crawls for the web app in you campaigns is different than the Linkscape web index (which only updates every 3-4 weeks). Eventually, the two might merge, but we didn't want to bias any crawling inside Linkscape when we launched the web app last September.
