  • What do you mean by "inbound links on your homepage"? The links in your homepage link yo pages in your site. Inbound links are those who come from external sources. I don't know what keywords are you using, but just the name michael harwinlaw returns an EXCELLENT result page (see screenshot). Now, if we are talking about specific keywords, then it will need an inbound link assessment, review for any possible penalty, etc. But to your main question: your index page being indexed, it is, and perfectly linked to G+ places, etc. fL7j2wK.png

  • Sorry to revive a long dead post but a good book never goes away. I suggest reading something outside of the marketing community that will help with understand people more and so get the creative juices flowing for new marketing ideas.  Try David McRaney "You are not so smart" or anything by Robert B. Cialdini.

  • @[Vadim Mialik I](http://moz.com/users/view/145337) think your "familiarization with the platform" is the answer. I know how to optimize - just not in Wordpress or other blog tech. RE:"what you mean by serious SEO" I presently rebuild pages to spec, in asp, rather than try to un-corrupt old code. I rename pictures, rename page filenames, edit the existing copy, etc. IOW, I build the pages around the SEO target. As I write the code, I make sure everything "fits" together. I have been getting excellent results this way. If I start retrofitting Wordpress sites, I won't have that kind of access to customize. I don't agree that Wordpress is inherently search friendly, but can imagine that demand has forced them to come up with workarounds. I think Vadim has the right approach -  learn the mechanics of what can be manipulated in Wordpress - then learn what I need to make up for what I can't do - my way. I will definitely take a closer look at the Yoast plug-in.....Thanks for all replies

  • Hi Shay, Content creation is always a major creative challenge. Writers and marketers all have different ways of brainstorming good ideas. If you are doing the writing, your task will be to research your industry and geography and see if there is something you can create that doesn't already exist or hasn't already been done well. Your industry might be thought of as a 'boring' industry because it doesn't automatically lend itself to exciting content. This means you have to work a little harder to discover what you can created that will generate notice. We had an excellent article here last year about this. I recommend you read this: http://moz.com/blog/the-guide-to-developing-a-content-strategy-for-boring-industries If you do not feel you can accomplish the job of content development and writing on your own, I recommend you hire help. Here on Moz, you'll find our recommended companies list that can help you connect with a pro. See: http://moz.com/community/recommended Regarding your Google+ Local listing, I'm not sure if you're asking me if there is something you should add to it. Your listing should be fully filled out in all fields and should adhere to the Google Places Quality Guidelines. Citations are mentions anyplace on the web of your business name, address and phone number (NAP). These can include listings on directories like Yelp, Yahoo! Local and SuperPages, and they can also include things like third party blog posts or social media mentions. It sounds like you've already built a listing on Yelp. There are lots more places you can build citations, too. If this is a new concept for you, I recommend you go to GetListed.org and use their free tool to help you start building important citations. Once you have built the basic citations via GetListed.org, you can decide to continue building other citations with the help of a paid tool like Whitespark's Citation Finder Tool (see: https://www.whitespark.ca/local-citation-finder/). Regarding your point #5, it is not a recommended best practice to acquire links by posting in forums. In fact, this would typically be seen as a spammy practice and should be avoided. I recommend you read chapter 7 of our Beginners' Guide to SEO. Chapter 7 will teach you about good methods for earning links: http://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seo/growing-popularity-and-links Hope this helps!

  • You are correct. This is essentially "duplicate content". I would have to assume that Google would then rank these types of pages on metrics other than content (inbound links, social shares, other SEO metrics... and probably breadth of a content library). But who really knows? You could just start comparing those types of sites to and get a good idea how Google is ranking them. Interesting to think about. Mike

  • This is really a market research project, and you have a few different ways to figure out who your customer is. You can get market research reports - Here are a few examples that turned up from a Google search: MarketResearch.com | IBISWorld.com | TrendReports.com | ResearchAndMarkets.com You could also do your own market research through a site like AYTM. You could also use a service like Qualaroo to ask your website visitors questions or you could create a survey on a site like AYTM but send it to your previous customers instead of their panel. With the data that you gather in the above processes, you can begin to build personas as already suggested. Good luck! -Geoff

  • Firstly you need to know what blocks make up an IP.  An IP is split up into different sections as follows: AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD The C Block typical denotes a neighbourhood of IP addresses.  It is unnatural to get only links from the same C block, as links typically come from different places.  Of course, a few links from the same neighbourhood is ok, but if you had 90% of links coming from the same place then it is probably indicative  that all your links are coming from the same place. Here is what Matt Cuts had to say about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsSwqo16C8s In answer to your question, you probably don't need to worry at all about C Blocks.  If you are getting links in a white hat way, your links will naturally come from different places, and hence most likely be on different C Blocks.

  • Hi guys, Robert excellent question. Just to clear up the legal question I did some searching and you are right there are circumstances in which you do not have to pay interns I thought you guys might find it interesting to see the actual law. I found the official law at the Fact Sheet #71: Internship Programs Under The Fair Labor Standards Act http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs71.htm & a PDF http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs71.pdf there are certain things that will allow you to take on an intern without pay. They are listed in the links above. You are correct there definitely are situations in which you can legally not pay for an intern. I thought you guys might think this was interesting. I know when I was in school I guess you could call what I did an internship I was not paid but learned a great deal and am more than grateful for it today. I think what you said about actually seeing somebody being able to accomplish something that they believed they could not or possibly without the internship would not have looked in that particular field only to find out they are good at that type of work in this case marketing. I also want to say kudos to you for telling the intern that said "I can't do this, this is not really my forte." Your response of "we do not have an option to tell a client we cannot do something. I would appreciate you going back and finishing, and then he looked down at his work." Very professional and very true you would never want to have to give a client that excuse and I guess for that in turn you live and you learn. I think everyone will agree when it comes to personal lives or professional non-of us have not made mistakes. However to have the wisdom of somebody there that has literally accomplished what these people are trying to do with their lives is such a good thing for them and for us because the more we can teach somebody in my opinion the better we become at our jobs. Outstanding question. Respectfully, Thomas

  • Why not keep leave the old page alive in the hopes that some will click on their links? Use a 304 redirect to your new site. We have hundreds of audiobook titles that have gone out-of-publication. For those who may come upon the original page while searching the web and click on the link we use a 304 redirect to this common page: http://www.audiobooksonline.com/out-of-publication-audio-books-book-audiobook-audiobooks.html

  • I don't recommend Magento, because I am a Prestashop person. But at the same time, one feature of Magento (and Prestashop) is that you can manage two separate shops at two domains from the same back office. If it were me, I would run both. The puzzle site is more targeted to puzzles, the toy site is more targeted to toys. Each has their own place in the market and can stand alone. It actually will give you a good ground to test the sites against each other.

  • hello Jakub let me reply one by one... -> and so what? Read more about Penguin and how it works. Yes, i did. -> If you do not agree with me on these fundamental points, unfortunately I don't know how to help you. Let me ask my questions again. The questions are about 1. Onpage + onsite seo. Is it okay? or do i need to make any chages. "2. Please give alook to my some post. SEO score is okay. But still, is it perfectly optimise ( onpage + onsite)" by the way, i m getting A score for all pages. 2. The second was about link portfolio since there is huge Link and IP diversify. There should be no reason for penguin penalty. according to u, its due to some bad link ( one year ago). And your suggestion is... "Low quality backlinks" Remove them... correct? or any thing else ? And if i remove them.. site will be okay? Before i do any thing.......!!!! I wish to know, what i m doing, and how it will help me or my project. --->>>If u think.... that.....site was hit due to Bad links Then... do u Agree with the concept of .....Negative seo...? Just create back link.. and site will be gone? Its not the case MY drear friend. Thats why, i said, that i m not Agree with u... --->>>. At this point of time... ->Domain Authority 29 ->Onpage + on site seo is fne ( if i should update, then Please be very specifc) -> ranking well on yahoo + bing -> ranking in google for some keywords... But still i know, that its hit by penguin... If any one, Can help me out with, good specific answers, then i will be very thankful to him  ( thanks to two gentlemen for there efforts) MY expense so far..... If i post this question at -->Warrior forum  -->> Bhw JR vip section  -> Traffic planet... I m sure, i get much better answers..... -->> moz.com I was expecting that... Moz should be the best.. Unfortunately, its not the case so far... I m getting the answers with may be..... its like posting on a forum, where some one is just posting there option Disappointed so far Thanks

  • Came here to say this. If you load your presentation to Drive you're in full control and only need to take the stick and your phone! SICK! It's like an HDMI usb stick. HDMI doesn't conduct power so you have to charge them and for the $35 it's cheap enough to throw away if you don't dig it. Along with power it requires a TV so not perfect for your answer but I'd carry one everywhere. (and will by next week)

  • I do have lots of experience personally and professionally on WWW and non-WWW websites. I guess you have expertise in WP and SEO, so giving only main points to determine without explaining the story of SEO and WORDPRESS. Lets consider the example scenario: domain.com occupies 9 characters in the search engine URL data www.domain.com occupies 12 characters in the search engine URL data (extra 3 characters) if you are very much serious about SEO and wanted to rank and optimize your site for search engine traffic better to remove WWW in the website URL Points to remember: 1.  Inform google webmaster tools about your website (either www or non-www) 2.  use .htaccess from www to non-www redirection 3. Use Wordpress Redirection plugin initially for monitoring what urls are being redirected and how If you aware of Canonical URL concept, please go ahead and use properly www.example.com example.com/ www.example.com/index.html example.com/index.php Note: As you might be using Wordpress, using SEO Plugin will help you in applying a Canonial URL When to use What - if you are looking for branding and not expecting too much search traffic use the extra WWW prefix if you are only interested to get search traffic and the website is not a brand (example: services, blog, keyword-rich domain) remove WWW Consider Examples like: moz.com yoast.com
