  • I'll just add that make sure you don't overlook t.co referrals. This is Twitter's link shortener that can appear in your referral reports instead of social traffic.

  • The company I work for has just invested in Hubspot to market our own company to begin with.  I will let you know how we get on with it.  I originally took the call from a guy trying to sell it to us as I requested a free trial.  I ended up telling him that it wasn't right for our business as creating automated landing pages for ourselves and our clients would actually take work away from us.  We mainly build websites and landing pages you see.  I felt like he was effectively trying to take our clients onto their platform and we would see a few crumbs of commission.  I also said we have access to all the data they provided using multiple online software.  So I declined. Our owner/manager has recently bought into it thinking that inbound marketing is the future or marketing and  I would have to agree, it is why I signed up for the trial in the first place (Once all of the technical aspects of SEO have been taken care of, it then becomes more of a marketing role). However, I did think it was something that we could manage ourselves as David has said "use 3-4 third party applications instead".  This can be quite time consuming when your client list starts to stack up. I am still skeptical as it still requires a lot of hard work and money.  It's not like they create any of the content for you.  I will let you know the progress we have made with it in a couple of months.  If you don't hear anything from me.....I doubt it will have been very successful PS. I hope this all makes sense I typed it very quickly

  • I'm also new to google play and app store optimization (ASO), below are some links to understand basics about ASO and also please keep in mind that Google Play Store counts backlinks and app reviews from external websites but app store or Apple store has nothing to do with backlinks. http://www.searchenginejournal.com/app-store-optimization-aso-is-it-really-the-new-seo/61939/ https://blog.kissmetrics.com/app-store-optimization/ http://www.apptamin.com/blog/app-store-optimization-aso-app-name-and-keywords/ This one is very detailed: http://blog.sensortower.com/blog/2014/03/25/our-best-app-store-optimization-and-marketing-tips-for-app-developers/ May be my answer doesn't help you much, I'm new here, just trying to help you. Good Luck!

  • You can see all the IP addresses in server logs, or in your case possibly a javascript equivalent of the code posted by microdesign will be a more viable solution, as you are not trying to get the IPs of hits to your own server, but for your ads hosted on other sites. On the downside: this will not solve your issue. If anybody only a little bit experienced is doing a click fraud it is very likely that they are using zombies or bot networks to reach their goal. If they are using hacked servers, that is an easier solution, you just have to look at irregularly high number of hits from the same IP address accross your network, and block the IP. Using cookies and testing for them is a wise decision, because a php only bot won't be able to mimic cookies, if you set them with javascript. If you do all the above, there are still ways around it. If I were you I would contact a company experienced in user validating, there is no one stop shop solution for what you are trying to do.

  • Traffic, yes, SEO, no. Search engines cannot "read" videos very well, unless you have a very robust video sitemap, which each of these sites like ABC news, also uses. (It's unlikely they'd do that.)

  • We use both Adwords and Adroll.  My preference is always to do everything myself, and Adwords gives me complete control.  With Adroll, you'll have reps who are generally very responsive and good, but you still need them to help manage and optimize your campaigns.  So I'd second what Ray-pp is saying.  Use Adroll when you're ready to expand your reach outside of the Google Display Network, once you're already running (very) profitable retargeting campaigns in Adwords. In your comment below, it sounds like you're comparing your search clicks with display clicks.  Search clicks are always more expensive since there's implied intent in the fact the user is searching for something.  With $700 CPCs, retargeting is probably really important for you to try and recapture that user once you got them to your site.  You could try some retargeting through YouTube as well if display ads are working. If you have Adwords reps, I'd strongly recommend trying to get into the SCM beta, which is what the industry generally calls "search retargeting".  This would allow you to target users searching for those expensive queries (on Google, Bing, & Yahoo) after that fact via display ads.  It's in beta, but I think it's a fairly open beta at this point so if you have reps, you can probably get into it.  I couldn't find a good Google article about it, but this sums it up nicely.

  • If you know what is happening to pages with this session_id I would always add/ change the purpose of the URL parameter in Google Webmaster Tools. I would never let Googlebot decide what to do with the URL parameters as I never will know how they exactly interpreted the data.

  • They should be indexed next time the page is crawled. I don't know that they're very effective anymore. Obviously they're worth doing since they're pretty easy to set up, but Google continues to be highly selective about showing them.

  • Hi Bob - Good question! Well, what is easy for one person is difficult for another. (And what is manageable on an iPhone may be impossible on another type of mobile device.) To know for sure what your specific audience prefers (and that's what it all boils down to), test, test, test! A/B testing tools like Optimizely can show you how users respond to design changes based on device and browser.

  • In my experience this is mostly the case, probably the same rate is around 4% and they just multiplied the number of visits from this size by 22 just to provide you with the numbers. It drives me crazy as well
