  • I am glad all of you like it! I think you are right about the Start Now button, but unfortunately that's where the biggest image of the logo went so we want to keep things as they are.

  • Best practice is to NEVER post the same content on 2 or more different sites.  It is considered duplicate content and although you may not get a penalty the Fox is right when he says that one site will win over the other and chances are you  will lose unless you have a better page rank and authority than tumblr... The only way for what you want to do to work is to be able to add REL=author attribute as well as microdata (HTML 5) distinguishing who owns the original content (yours) to the tumblr content.  and that's not happening... Tumblr is great for quick posting with links back to your site, try and create a brand for yourself... Good luck

  • I just checked with the help team. Rogerbot does not execute javascript and should not be showing up in your Google Analytics account.

  • From what I can see you have entered the ring with the heavyweights. This is a techsavvy niche and the people you are challenging work really smart and really hard.  And they have been doing that for a long time. I pay very little attention to DA, PA, etc.  Instead I look at the content of the site and the buzz about the biz.     To beat them you are going to need a popular site and a praiseworthy business. Go to each of these sites and get a measure of their social cred....  cartridgesave....  33,000 Google reviews... stinkyink... about 10,000 reviews.  Check twitter and FB for their brands. (I don't even live in the UK and I have heard of these businesses.) These are businesses that people are singing about.  People are typin' their domains into Google - asking for them by name - over and over again - every time they need a cartridge. Lots of people will disagree (especially hard core SEO linkbuilders). But I think that you will need a lot more than SEO to defeat them. I don't think that google is going to look at the links of a website and rank them above these guys without a huge human popularity factor.

  • I think the company logo or even a picture of the product could improve click through but this would be going against google rules as they ask for a head shot. I agree that you may be better of with http://schema.org. But it woulkd be great if you could find a way to protwct your unique contwnt with rel=author and not lose ctr.

  • It depends on your goal.  If your goal was just to get +1's to be higher in Google's social search then just plus one your site.  If you want to stay in touch with the people who've +1 you then you need to use your page. And none of that really matters as Google has provided a way to link your website to your business page. http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1708844

  • Hey Joel, Although I didn’t have a firsthand experience but I think I can pass my suggestions to you that sounds very actionable… Targets: target is to get targeted audience to signup and then +1 your page Target Audience: I am not sure about your target audience but let’s say age group between 25 to 35 years of people is your target audience. How to go! Do not just ask them to like the page or add you in circle but instead engage with them in such a way that they get encouraged a get signed up to Google+ and like your page. For example: Offer your audience an amazing discount or surprise gift on buying over $150.. this is common but you have to make it different by offering this offer to Google+ users only. Tell them that if you want to avail the offer you have to be a Google+ user and should added your business in the circle.. this way targeted people will add you in circles… this will attract the people who are not on Google+ and will encourage them to join Google+ +1 your page and avail the discount. (This is just a rough idea but brainstorming different ideas will make you come up to a good idea that will surly like by your people). Best of luck!

  • The best suggestion I can offer beyond your initial thoughts (all strong by the way) is to start in "Beta" mode (or maybe even "Alpha" mode), and make it clear that this is the case so people know it's very early in the life-cycle and thus will have much lower expectations regarding user / usage volume. And definitely find a way to partner with someone who has very strong marketing skills.  Without high quality marketing from someone who's "been there/done that", and you could very well be setting yourself up for a big fail.  There's no guarantee they'll help you succeed, or that early adopters will catch the buzz wave, however it's more likely they will.

  • I know about FWA but do no really follow it. I do follow Awwwards and I think i's a trust wordy website. I've seen there listed websites from brands like Pepsi, Coca Cola, Nike, Addidas. So yes do submit your website to Awwwards, but do it because you have a great website and you can get ranked as the website of the day. They have amazing websites there and can get you natural back-links from people that will like your website. I don't know much about the directory submission but I know they are a trusted website. Hope this Helps Cornel

  • Hi Kynduvme, Definitely follow the link Bede Fahey has provided. This was a major policy change that I would recommend you take note of and comply with in signaling to Google the correct business model. By being accurate in your settings, you will hopefully avoid future penalties of your listing.

  • I know of a company that likely worked out a deal with a chain of rent to own furniture stores and were able to get Google Places listings with their own unique local phone numbers at each physical address across the state of Texas. I notice now they do not have the places listings they once had? Maybe they did not hide their physical address as they should have since customers purchase online rather than come into store and Google shut all their places listings down. Not real sure. Also a lot of their local domains they bought do not seem to come up number 1, 2, 3 spots anymore. They appear on page 2 - 5 on Google although their main domain ranks for things well still.

  • Hello, Yes I have picked out a name registered it with the state and federal trademark (I used LegalZoom I have used others and LegalZoom might be slightly more but I like it they give you a lot for your money.) Blueprint Marketing LLC The company name is now changed from QuiZick Internet Marketing to Blueprint Marketing LLC I want to thank you much for your words of wisdom. I also would really like to know more about how it applies within SEOmoz things such my MOZ URL. And e-mail address profile and whatnot. Should I change those out I guess without worrying about any problems? Thank you kindly for the wise words. I did get the old site to rank for local keywords but as the domain was less than 90 days of age. Many of them penalized by Google sandbox pretty badly as it had no Moz rank whatsoever. This domain is 10 years of age I will move/migrate it to Dyn DNS for a 10 year term to get in Google's good graces as when I purchased the domain it gave me a single year or registration even though it is old I would rather not lose this one as the contest for the logo will be finished by the end of the day tomorrow (I used 99 designs) some pretty amazing results we got over 200 submissions then switch my host from Media Temple to Single Hop so when my site is finished by the end of the month I will be extremely happy. Right now we have the site being built by somebody recommended by SEOmoz I am unfortunately not a designer. I think after reading so much on video lately I am going to sit this one out with the same player on SEOmoz & HubSpot I'm using limelight right now and honestly I got to looking at prices and they want way too much in comparison to what you get from these other video companies. Please let me know what you think of my name change as well. Thomas Von Zickell CEO Blueprint Marketing LLC http://www.blueprintmarketing.com tzickell@blueprintmarketing.com

  • I would outsource it to a pro - but you don't necessarily need to pay a fortune, our agency offers infographic design, research and promotion for around $1,000 and we work with some of the biggest agencies and brands in the world (including Yoast, AOL, European Commission, PayPal, Ford, Experian, Orange, etc. etc). With that said it's perfectly acceptable to design one yourself, just make sure you put in the proper time, care and effort and that you promote it as hard as you can. Not only do infographics act as fantastic link bait, but they can facilitate some incredibly strong links via guest blogging - you'd be amazed at the strength of some of the links you can gain if you offer someone an exclusive, well design and well thought out infographic. Thanks for linking to my post Keri - hopefully that will be of some use to you Joel : )

  • Vistage, I can appreciate this and understand that this listing is probably in the recommended searches because of the query's popularity. Likewise, logic led me to believe the only way to get rid of this from the related searches was to create more highly relevant searches for the brand. Sometimes - as I'm sure you know- SEOs can implement a bit of voodoo to either 1.) eliminate, or 2.) expedite the removal of such unwanted information. I was just hoping that there was something I could either do in Webmaster Tools or another one of Google's products to accelerate this process. With reputation monitoring being as big of a discussion topic as it has been in 2012, though, I was confident that someone may've discovered some sort of work-around or other means of getting these unwanted queries out of the 'recommended searches' list. Regardless, thank you for your input. I still believe there has to be another way to 'bury' unwanted recommended search queries and if I find anything out, I will definitely let you know.

  • I don't know if you should back off on it. I found this post on google webmaster tools about it and it says for it to work you have to have a valid google+  acct... ? http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1408986 But I do know that in one of the latest ProWebinars  Rhea Drysdale talked about how some authors are taking advantage of the rel=author tag to help their rankings and she flashed a few success stories up too. http://www.seomoz.org/webinars/online-reputation-management-branding-for-serp-domination About 30minutes in she talks about some of the strategies and I think rel=author tags was one.

  • I have used almost all of these directories that you have mentioned.....they do have some positive effect imo but not that much and probably no where near enough to move you up above the bigger guys. You need to get more authorative links if you want to beat out national sites. Other than that you need to write better content than them and more frequently so more people link to you. Use site explorer and see if you can see any sites linking to them that you could get to link to you too at the very least that is a start....then look for other sites that are in your industry that can link to you. Try and get in to a local newspaper, local radio etc.  You need as many links as possible.
