Protecting Your Domain/Brand
The rules for who may register a country-level domain are set by each country's domain registration authority, not by the individual companies that sell domain name registrations, LBM In Canada, CIRA (Canadian Internet Registration Authority) makes the rules for who can buy a .ca domain, and after consultation with Canadians, decided that "the dot-ca domain space should be developed as a key public resource for the social and economic development of all Canadians. Individuals or organizations that wish to register a dot-ca domain name must meet CIRAs Canadian Presence Requirements." So it's not Register.com that's denying you, it's the fact that you don't meet the requirements set out by Canadian policy. These kinds of limitations are in place for many ccTLDs (country-level domains) including the UK as you've discovered. Note that, in Canada at least, in addition to citizens, Permanent Residents. and registered Canadian businesses, you can also register the domain if it is directly part of a trademark that is registered in Canada. So if you really want to protect it in Canada (I assume also holds in other countries) you can trademark the name here and then you'll be able to register the domain name in .ca. Paul

One writer, multiple brands - optimizing rel=author across several blogs
I personally go with the "Ghostwriter" option, as having a real person is key - and creating a real "Face" for your Brand is even more important. I know alot of people on here would suggest the "Create A persona" option and i think there is even a whle webinar on it - But I would completely disagree with this and think as you say it is icky and dishonest - but I know some niches a face is hard to come by Shane

RipOff Report and Google
Personally I believe it is an outdated approach that will be changed over the next few years. I think Google, and Bing tried to establish a system early on that would allow positive, and negative reviews to rank higher in the serps, and as the majority of webmasters, and bad seos, spammed the positive stuff it was demoted through the years. This eventually gave the negative sites the advantage, and sites like Rip off reports flourished. One of the easiest ways to rank a site for a keyword is to buy the sucks version of the keyword. Take Pay Pal for example one of the largest payment processors in the world with millions of backlinks but when you Google Pay Pal you will also find the Pay Pal sucks site. https://www.google.com/search?q=PAY+PAL&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Best to have separate private and the business twitter accounts?
Hi Igor I totally get what you're saying people are not interested, unless they are interested.. It's my focus at the moment Twitter, so I'm going to try to build up following is in each category that into that category. I was listening to the SEO called Kelvin Newman on his podcast and he a suggested that you should concentrate your efforts on one particular twitter account to build up your followers and save time etc , but it doesn't make sense. I like the guy and his advice usually but not on this occasion. I actually have control of another twitter account for a celebrity and that's building up more followers than all the rest of my accounts put together, but unfortunately once again I don't think the celebs followers will be generally interested in my holiday cottages or CCTV! At least I'll put a small ad at the top of the account for myself just in case Thank you for your clear punchy advice

Expert site feedback required please
I see Just tried that out and my local (UK) search terms are a little higher as expected. Seems odd that no one would be searching for "buy isle of mull cheddar" Does it just round down to 0 if the number is quite low? In your example, would 46 and 36 be numbers worth bothering with if you were optimising this website? I know this is treading dangerously into the "how do i pick the right keywords" territory, so i'll keep it just to this particular example When you consider that there are over 200 cheeses on the site, is 40 and 50 searches per month worthwhile considering i'll only get a fraction of that traffic if i make it to number 1. Thanks again Donnie!

Entireweb.com
Well, do you want to get included in these search engines? http://media.entireweb.com/images/pages/express_inclusion/ewpartners.png If not, I wouldn't worry about it. Those are not exactly major search engines they're talking about (the previous link was found at http://entireweb.com/express_inclusion/features/). Google and Bing both have ways to submit your site to them for free, if they haven't already picked up on it. Bing's index powers Yahoo these days, so by submitting to just those two you have over 92% of the US search market taken care of (per August Hitwise numbers at http://www.experian.com/blogs/hitwise/2012/08/10/searchenginesjuly2012/) So, I'd save your money and time on that one.

Is it a good idea to participate in review / giveaway bloggers
it has been three weeks. I posed the same question on Google webmaster forum I got two answers only. 1- “Go for it” 2- Paid for links is paid for link by product or by cash!! Google will not like that! I think it will give me good band exposure. And I should go for it for the good reason you mentioned. But I am very concern with Google link guidelines. Should I make the link no-follow? Thank you all so much for your input.

DMOZ Directory Lising..... 5 years since submission
I'm an editor for one of the categories, and depending on the catagory you're trying to listed in, it can indeed take some time. By the way, I actually don't think a link from DMOZ is all that powerful any more...just my 2 cents.

Best Way To Distribute Infographics?
There was a recent post a few days ago in the UGC blog on how to push an infographic. http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/how-to-push-an-infographic In reality though, a good infographic should do the work for you.

Microformats/ Snippets and local SEO
If the 3rd party will allow for it, then this is definitely recommended. Most local search platforms do this (Yelp, YP, etc). But if the 3rd party will not allow you to markup your NAP on your own, just having the data consistent will be beneficial to you.

Branding exact match keyword domain
It's a great question, as many people want to be the recommended brand within Google. I haven't seen any keyword domains as recommended brands in Google. You'll struggle to achieve this with a keyword matching domain simply because these types of sites don't give off very strong brand signals, which Google uses to list brands. An example of a brand signal is how other websites link to you. Other site will naturally link to the site with the domain name, as they can't link with a brand. There also won't be significant references/citations over the net. Here is a great list of brand signals to consider (http://www.seobook.com/potential-brand-signals) If you can replicate a lot of these then you may have a chance, but it will be tough. Let us know how you get on.
