  • It turns out it was an issue with schema.org tagging overwriting any opengraph or the actual HTML attributes. The itemscope "name" property was just set to the company name. I had a LocalBusiness schema.org markup on the page which takes precedence on Google+.

  • Just know that you'll need to have a personal profile and a page profile to accomplish this. Michelle Ross over at Search Engine Journal did a great post a few months ago on how to get started on Google+ That is a great start there but I think the best one I've seen for Businesses is by Marvin Shervington (marvinshervington.com) and he created a complete guide for Google+ for brands You're question is kind of like asking "how do I get started in SEO"  It's really hard to answer without giving you some sources first and when you have specifics then you can come back and ask those question and get better discussion. In my opinion Google+ is Twitter, Facebook and Google combined.  There are a lot of nuances with it and giving you one big overview is pretty tough.  Read up on the resources I've provided, and others that you can search for and feel free to ask any specifics you have.

  • Thanks, Paul and Kevin. I understand now. I've often thought about doing a campaign to find out which of my followers would be willing to give us a link. As I understand it, offering a coupon or something would be a big no-no, so I've been a little unclear on how to do that. I really like the tools here and the list on www.pointblankseo.com. They've both helped, but we're new and it's slow, yet enjoyable, going.

  • Hmm, well Slideshare, Scribd and Pinterest are the best for direct / leads and sales. LinkedIn can be a lead generator if you join some groups and watch the discussions. Facebook is a brand awareness tool and hardly anything else.

  • Such a script/app is against the facebook terms of service. At https://www.facebook.com/help/210896588933875/ FB states: Can I know who’s looking at my timeline or how often it’s being viewed? No, Facebook doesn't let you track who views your timeline or your posts (ex: your photos). Third party apps also can't provide this functionality. If you come across an app that claims to offer this ability, please report the app.

  • Another question i forgot to ask - if you're implementing a social media share widget (such as: http://sharethis.com/publishers/get-sharing-tools) which included: facebook, twitter, google plus, etc Do you have to still create and add Open Graph Protocols e.g. og:url, og:url, og:image ? Thanks, Matt

  • Google doesn't guarantee that the author picture will show up and whether or not the picture shows up varies, depending on the searcher's search term. Writing more under a particular byline seems to help.

  • Supposedly, once you have verified authorship, Google should take it from there. I have tried adding direct links on posts to Google+: "Joakim Westman can be found on Google Plus" (which then links to the author's Google+ profile). The author biography pages on my site almost always come up in the serps with pictures, and I link those back to their Google+ pages as well. But really, my best indicator has been the more the author writes, the more they show up. As far as Google not trusting you, I'd look at the overall picture, not display in serps. Google is always messing around with display, for their own reasons.

  • There are a few Good Ways to go around Fiverr. 1. Dont Buy Likes, Buy Add Me Fast Points. You can target countries (that's the only targeting you get) but you will have about 8000 points which you can spend on not only  likes but Shares...  The person that likes the shares your post is only doing it to gain points himself, but his friends might be interested in your content. 2. I found a russian selling 10,000 likes These 10,000 likes I use to target a generic term such as "fizzy drinks" as long as i get more likes than the current "fizzy drinks" page all the new likes for that page are mine. And I can monetize by advertising further to the real fizzy dinks fans. 3. YouTube Hits, I bought 30,000 YT hits. All mobile views (some include likes, comments and subscriptions too) - These were the best! Every time my video goes viral after the initial 30k a couple months down the line I'd get up to 120K and 10K real visitors. and real sales resulting from this. 4. Organic Traffic. - Dont Buy Traffic, buy advertisement through social networks which generate trafic, there are a few out there that do that for you... anywhere from 50 per day to 8000per day. This got me a few sales, but not as much as the YouTube Likes Additionally: I ordered all the 10,000 baclikns, the 50billion edu and gov spun article placemnt, search engine submissions etc. for 1 site.   SERP for main keyword 1st place!!!  Page Rank 0 It looks like Blackhat killed my domain name, I dont see how I can make actually get a PR now as there is just so much junk on the net out there linking to my site that, the genuine links are ignored, although i get no warnings, and im blacklist free. So to summ up: Get 10,000 fake likes and ruin your LEGITIMATE status (aka you become spam) BUT You will have about 1,000 real, semi-interested fans.

  • Hello Scott! That is a great question. To add the Facebook account, you need to be an admin on the FB account and you have to have 2 or more likes. If it is still not letting you add your Facebook profile, please message us at help@seomoz.org and we can investigate this further to make sure there isn't anything blocking you on our end. Hope this helps!

  • Hi, The meta keyword tag is pretty much useless in terms of ranking, so if these are the keywords you are referring to then I would not expect to see any results. In terms of improving rankings, in the first instance you will need to give the search engines (and users!) some more information about what your site offers. Having a quick look at your homepage I have no idea what yookos offers that would make me want to register. I would recommend getting some text into the homepage describing who your site is aimed at and why it is different from other social type sites. Your page title for example is 'Log in with your Username | Yookos', this is not helping the search engines understand what your site is about! The same comment goes for your meta description: 'Yookos is one of the leading and fastest growing social networking sites that provides a safe and engaging environment for users.'. Why is it a leading and fast growing network? Who is the main target audience(s)? Beyond the homepage, it would help to get some more indexable pages on the site. Some ideas might include users guide or frequently asked questions type pages which will give you some more content that you can use to explain what the site is all about to users that have not already registered and also give the search engines some more information and pages they can use in the serps. Hope that helps!

  • If the URLs you want sharing metrics for are in an RSS feed, you can use this tool: http://www.rypmarketing.com/tools/rss-social-analyzer.php

  • Sadly, though, I just discovered that I lost all my FB likes and Linkedin shares...Not sure if there's anything I can do about that.

  • Hi Thanks for your reply - it was excactly what i was looking for :-). This is not only a SEO-excersice, its also an excersice in giving people relevant information about our company - and using the right channels to do that - and as far as im concerned the two things are close related, and will be furthermore in the future. Twitter and Facebook are a given for our company, we need to be on those social media, and i don't know if there is anything we can do in order to optimize those for SEO-purposes? And then i will start creating a Google plus profile, and trying to integrate Google +1 oppertunities on our site. Your thoughts about Tumblr and Pinterest are very interesting, but it seems that where we are located (Denmark), it will be Instagram that will be the 3rd biggest social network, behind Facebook and Twitter, so if we add ressources into a fourth social network (besides Facebook, Twitter and Google+) it will probably be Instagram.

  • Google Plus has changed big time since this post but to help anyone looking. You can now circle, "friend" and use your business page just like a personal profile. Check out Google+ for business http://www.google.com/intl/en_US/+/business/

  • That's correct, Gina. Eliran, you need to set rel="publisher" on your home page and tie it to the company page on G+. Using rel="author" set to a company page won't work (it may check out as okay on the rich snippet testing tool, but it won't appear in the SERPs, and it won't tie the G+ page and the site together in the Knowledge Graph)
